Florida Georgia Line are planning to re-release "This Is How We Roll" with added vocals from Jason Derulo. It's unknown if it'll have Luke Bryan or not. They're looking to replicate the success of "Cruise" when they released a new version with Nelly. This should be... interesting...

can someone please end this "country remix with a pop star" trend? I don't even understand who the songs are meant to appeal to.

Honestly. With DeRulo currently having the kind of success he hasn't had since his debut once again, trying to push this at Pop now will be the King of Bad Ideas, because this will do zilch. Though I'd rather see both do zilch, Jerrod/Pitbull would seem to have the likelier shot at hitting, IMO.

"Cruise" is truly one of the worst hits in actual years, so I can only hope this dies instantly.

Jesus Christ. Can't any good country artists try to crossover for once? Bro country has already cursed the country format, I don't need it cluttering up pop either.

I just love how pop stations won't play potential crossover smashes from Carrie like "Good Girl" or "Blown Away" because they don't have a "pop mix", but they'll play utter trash like this.
...I haven't even listened to it yet, but I know it'll suck.

Literally dead.
And this is from somebody who enjoys FGL from time to time while intoxicated.

I like FGL and "bro country" in general but these unnecessary Pop remixes are s**t.

Well, this is their second biggest hit after Cruise, and as much as people seem to dislike it, i can see it happening.
Between all their songs i think Stay is the best by far, but people seem to prefer this kind of song (because the vibe is the same that in Cruise)
I always prefer when country hits crossover unadultered to pop, but the featured pop artist seems to be the new tendency

Why exactly would you expect pop radio to play country songs that aren't sent pushed to pop in any one capacity? I think "Blown Away" was basically a perfect song to cross over and be huge--even bigger than "Before He Cheats"--but that was never going to happen without so much as an adds date. Can't blame pop for that one.

Somehow this ended up being worse than I thought it would be. That has to be an achievement. The one with Luke and Jason Derulo is so overproduced you can barely tell who is singing throughout the song.
I wonder how high it's going to get, probably not near Cruise but my guess is it will do much better than the Jerrod Niemann/Pitbull remix.

This is pretty terrible, though. It actually makes me think Drink to That All Night is a strong crossover effort (though I suspect this might have a better chance due to FGL's history at pop)

Um, wow.
I think this is even worse than "Cruise (Remix)", and that's saying something.
(Also, why does every "bro-country" pop remix seem like they have extremely cheap production? Seriously, the first time I heard "Drink to That All Night (Remix)" I thought that it was something I would of heard from a random YouTube video from 2007 or something.)

You can purchase the remix with both Jason and Luke on iTunes right now. But you cannot purchase the version with just Jason.

Not surprised they're trying to do this. Business-wise, they'd be stupid not to.
I know these guys aren't very well liked here, and they kinda suck, but they have a colossal fan base and appeal today.
Part of me pains me to say this, but these fellas have played a massive part in popularizing Country (and yes, despite what you grew up on, this is contemporary country for all intents and purposes today) among younger people today. It'd be wrong to say it's solely them, Bryan and Aldean are important too, but it's them that I heard blaring from many young crowds when I was back in the states. Crowds who would never dare to play Taylor Swift in public.

Crowds who would never dare to play Taylor Swift in public. I agree with you, but it's so sad that this music is even considered country (contemporary or not) in the first place (and I'm talking about the original version of this song). Aside from their southern/southeastern twang (with them of course being from Florida and Georgia), there's nothing country about their material, and a little bit of a southern accent in a person's singing voice shouldn't automatically mean their music is country. The entire culture of 'bro-country' is a stark contrast to the traditional values of 'regular' (for lack of a better word) country music. Country music always use to pride itself on well-written songs and real life stuff that people could relate to (cheating, addiction, relationships, rural life perspectives, etc), but bro-country songs are generally about partying and getting laid with the first hottie one sees. Most "bro" songs are just mindless songs about good times and parties. I don't know what genre I would classify it as, but I don't consider it (or FGL) country in the slightest. Unfortunately, since the parties they sing about take place in the backwoods or at a river bank or in a field, they've been marketed as country from the start. But sonically and lyrically, I just don't hear it (again, aside from the southern accents, but that's not enough to classify something as country, IMO). I listened to the Derulo remix and it's laughably bad. Even if they someday release a halfway decent, halfway country-sounding song, I don't know if I could ever like it. I'm sure that, in person, they are nice guys, but I've hated all their material so far and I cannot stand Tyler's vocals in the first place, so..

Yeah, F-G Line are basically country-pop (and leaning heavily on pop). Even "Stay" is essentially a post-grunge ballad with some twang, haha.
