She has no one really coming behind her (besides Luke Bryan, which should be at least a couple weeks out) and Tim is doing nothing. I think she should be able to go around Tim this week on Billboard. jhomes87 might be able to give us a more concrete answer on this :)

Ok, I am so pleased that finally a new female artist is breaking into the top 10. But really? This song? It's such a silly tune and her accent seems really fake to me. There are SO many other female artists out there with better material that are so much more deserving, IMO. However, from the comments here, it sounds like she has some other decent songs. So I am interested to see if they sound better to my ear than this one. I am really burned out on it.

But I never understand the problem with that anyway, because I don't think it should really matter. As for the material, I think she has some of the strongest stuff among the female newcomers, at least for radio viability. Her album is really good imo, and it's stacked with hit potential, too.

This week for Kelsea Ballerini has been amazing I don't know if it's her album dropping that's causing it but she's up 157 spins today and up 706K in audience today alone looking ahead to Billboard this next week her and Blake should easily pass Tim McGraw and both are fairly closing in on Easton
Edit: She's up in audience at least for MB has gained 1659K in audience in the last 3 days I don't know about you but that's amazing she could land at #8 on Billboard if she can pass Easton and Keith falls below I think one could happen but the other ones gonna be more difficult. Tim though will be passed. How much longer can Kelsea just explode this week.

IDK why but her accents just bugs me for some reason. Also the repetitiveness of this song makes me a little crazy. It's how she says the word "love" and the other words in it's place. Makes me cringe for some reason. As for other material, I look forward to hearing it and hope she can continue her momentum.

Congrats to Kelsea Ballerini for making the Country Streaming Chart! New in this week at #25 Probably the result of me finally getting Spotify premium this past week But I am absolutely thrilled about the success of this one. Glad to see that its having a killer week and will be launching her into the Billboard top 10. Can't wait to see how the album is selling/streaming for this week as its easily my favorite album of 2015 thus far. Nearly every single song is pure gold. As "Dibs" has already been declared the second single (good choice), I'd love to see "Peter Pan" third and "XO" fourth. But "Peter Pan" needs to be released. Incredibly clever, well-written, catchy, meaningful song.

New in this week at #25 Probably the result of me finally getting Spotify premium this past week LOL :) That would be a lot of streaming... It's quite a feat to crack the country streaming chart, though. The figures are quite impressive so far: Spotify = total 5.9M and YouTube = total 4.7M (= 10.6M worldwide streams / 05/22/15) PS: While typing this I'm listening to "Dibs"... and it's not bad at all! Could grow on me :)

For me, "Peter Pan" or "XO" would be wiser to go with as I think "Dibs" will stall somewhere outside the Top 10 (Though it'll likely get around some Gold sales figures).

I think Dibs will do fine the similarities between Love Me Like You Mean It and Dibs should lead to radio loving the song

"Dibs" is planned to be the second single but The Highway started playing it really, really early. "Love Me Like You Mean It" looks to be top 2 bound and by then, things could change depending on Black River's higher ups. Right now "Dibs" is the next single but as well all know, things can change just like that (RCA's "Can't Stop Loving You"/"Put My Heart Down" situation being a prime example).

See when I hear "Dibs", the instrumentation in the verses is very distinct and I like it. When the chorus kicks in, it almost sounds identical to this song. I think it's the production and whatever backing drums they have in it. I almost couldn't tell which song I was listening to. Also the way she claims "dibs" on everything after the chorus is very annoying to me, something that I'd hear from Kesha.

I think Dibs a will be eaten up by radio. Black River I'd imagine this summer once Love Me Like You Mean It peaks. Black River will focus on both female artists because has anybody heard anything about John King. I think Kellie and Kelsea will both do well this summer.

I like "Dibs", but I don't think it's the best choice for the second single. It just sounds too similar to "Love Me Like You Mean It" in my opinion. I could see it still reaching the teens or twenties, but I'd rather they release something else that will be more different than the first single. "Yeah Boy" is extremely catchy and I think would serve better than "Dibs". "XO" is a little experimental, but I could see it catching on quite well. I would go with one of those two next.

I think "Dibs" is the perfect choice for a follow-up. They have a lot of great options, but that is definitely one of the safer radio hits, imo. I think it will be an easy smash and should help her avoid the sophomore single slump that new females always get. I doubt they change singles; the intention to release "Dibs" next seems to be pretty clear, from it being announced as such on The Highway prior to its release to it being the only other song listed on the CD sticker alongside its lead single. I'd be surprised if "Dibs" didn't follow this.
And as far as it sounding too similar to "Love Me Like You Mean It," I disagree. I don't think the two sound that much alike, and the countrier instrumentation on "Dibs" will probably be a nice choice for her the way Sam Hunt releasing "House Party" has been called a good idea (though nothing on Kelsea's album really makes me think "is this country?" the way I often do with Sam Hunt). Besides, if anything, I actually feel like "Dibs" sounds more like "Yeah Boy" than anything. Those two always remind me of each other.

In my opinion, the songs from the album that would make for good singles are "XO", "Peter Pan", "First Time", "Dibs", and "Yeah Boy". "Sirens" could potentially be a good single as well, and it's more country-sounding than any of the others I just listed.
I feel like "Dibs" and "Yeah Boy" are interchangeable as single options, and the same goes for "Peter Pan" and "First Time". I just hope that one of each from those pairs of songs are released. Since it'll still be summer when the 2nd single is released, I think they should go with either "Dibs" or "Yeah Boy" next (although I slightly prefer "Yeah Boy"), followed by either "Peter Pan" or "First Time".
"XO" could be a great 4th single, but I wouldn't be upset with "Sirens" either (assuming there is a 4th single from this album).
So basically:
1. "Love Me Like You Mean It" 2. "Dibs" or "Yeah Boy" 3. "Peter Pan" or "First Time" 4. "XO" or "Sirens"

I think Dibs should definitely be the next song it's quirky unique and fun. I think the third (probably final to sustain momentum) would be XO. Love Me should peak late June early July. I see Dibs lasting into the winter while the third song probably next summer. Seems reasonable enough.

I've actually only heard this on the radio a couple times (I mostly listen to it on my own), but today when I heard it, I noticed that the version being played was not the same one on the album. Has anyone else heard a remix version on the radio? The one being played had a lot of the poppier elements in the production like the bass/drums replaced with violins/fiddles, especially during the chorus. I don't remember ever hearing it that way before, but it was definitely quite a bit different from the original production treatment.

With a nice triple jump from #11 to #8 Kelsea Ballerini Love Me Like You Mean It becomes the highest solo female song (not by Miranda or Carrie or Taylor) on Billboard since Jana Kramer Why Ya Wanna in September 2012 where that peaked at #3. How much father can she go? I'm so excited!

This was from Country Aircheck tonight on Black River Entertainment with CEO Gordon Kerr:
I couldn't be happier for Black River and Kelsea. I must admit, I'm certainly pretty stoked that Black River works so close with the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, including the Sabres staff helping out with social media and even trying their hand at helping Black River create a lyric video. Pretty cool, even if I wasn't a little biased, lol.
Great read though. :)

Man it's starting to look like Kelsea can do no wrong. I'm so excited for how she does. What are the chances of this song going Gold.

I'm a little confused at everyone's liking of Kelsea. I get that she's a female breaking much-needed barriers for her debut.
This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but this song continues to do nothing for me. It's overproduced, the electronic sounding banjo is the only instrumentation remotely country and what she is singing about is just as plain and generic as Canaan Smith's song.
If you guys want a female to break through, why can't it be one who is actually making legitimately great country music with awesome instrumentals and real stories...Mickey Guyton, Kacey Musgraves, Jana Kramer...
I know beggars can't be choosers, but come on. This is just a girl jumping on the over-produced generic bandwagon--it's no surprise this song is seeing success.

I think what makes people like it is the Taylor Swift vibe. That's for me at least. She really knows how to produce a catchy chorus. :)
