"Burnin It Down" had negative sales this week due to iTunes "Complete my Album" feature. If a song sells 80,000 copies but 100,000 people used "Complete My Album", then the sales this week is -20,000. Thanks. I did not know that. I was going to do a comparison between Jason Aldean (#1) and Carrie Underwood (#5) on the mongrel chart. Jason remained #1 entirely from airplay and streaming so that just shows how big of a lead he's had. But yes, songs do have a "negative" week usually when the album is released, as anybody who bought the song and then used iTunes' "complete my album" feature now counts as a negative sale for the song. It sounds silly, but it makes sense. Billboard/SoundScan doesn't want to count these people as having bought the individual song as well as the entire album. So if they do go and complete their album (but previously only owned "Burnin' It Down", that counts as a +1 for album sales but a -1 for sales of the single. This happens to everybody. It will happen to FGL's "Dirt" on next week's charts now that their album is out. And then it will happen to Taylor Swift the week after that.

BID gets the #1 on Mediabase with seemingly little effort as the updates this week have been pretty flat overall. This makes me wonder if Broken Bow saw this would happen without much push from them and are saving their radio efforts for the upcoming week.
I just recently looked at the Callout scores for this and didn't realize it was rated so strongly with very little negative response. I guess this makes sense considering the sales, but still surprised me a bit for a song that's such a departure for his typical sound.

Burnin' it Down was already certified platinum and I assume that certification does not get taken away, but is it hypothetically possible for the song to go from 1,000,000 to 800,000 just because of the pre-order and complete my album feature?
