The video is just kind of meh for me, and to be honest, I usually don't think much of Jason's videos, although I did really like the one for Fly Over States. Like with most music videos, I watched it once and probably won't see very much of it again unless I happen to have CMT on on the weekend.
Sales for this, however, are nothing short of amazing, and I continue to be surprised at how well it's holding up on iTunes. I think this will get to #1 but in spite of the huge sales, at this point I don't expect this to be one of those multi-week #1s that are just relentless. I'm sure it will pick up steam when it gets close to top 5, so I could be wrong. My stations in Seattle are hardly playing this at all yet; I've only heard this song twice on the radio.
About the subject matter, I'm over the naked line bothering me, and I don't think about Jason's or any other singer's personal lives when I listen to music. Other than generally wanting people to be happy, I don't care one way or the other about celebrity's personal lives.

Just to clarify, the personal lives of the artists don't typically play into whether I like a song or not, it just seems to be creeping in with this one. I could've just left that sentence as "I just don't need a sex song from Jason." and that would've worked too. I'm obviously in the minority with that opinion because people are buying it and anytime people are actually purchasing music, that's a good thing, imo.

The only thing I can say now is, please let the rest of the album be better than this left-field experiment. I'm OK with him having a "drum loop" in his material as long as it's subtle and not very prominent throughout unlike BID, but I don't want to hear more trashy lyrics like this on the album. I'm willing to forgive him for releasing such a thing as BID, (similar scenario with Tim McGraw this year, but different radio reception obviously), but I don't want any more of it. If I did, I would turn over to Top 40 radio, where some random, unheard-of acts/artists becomes immensely popular all of a sudden and then fade away like nothing happened about a year later.
Just so y'all know, I was being snarky with that last statement of mine. If you wanna discuss this issue, let me know via PM please. ;)

Album preorder is up on iTunes & comes with a new song, Sweet Little Somethin'. It's not exactly signature Jason; sort of like if ZZ Top cut a dance track & added some vocal effects. Definitely has a driving beat, but more of a dancey beat as opposed to a rock beat. So far, this album seems geared to attract fans outside of country, and giving the exclusive announcement/track list to BuzzFeed fits with that strategy.

Listening to Jason's entire album. "Too Fast" is the standout so far. Sounds like a country radio hit.

Just listened to the full album. LOVE IT. It's very immediate for me & some of the songs are just amazing. Very, very, very happy with it.

Yeah, y'all are on my "I'm jealous and I'm gonna be a child about it" list right now! I'm excited for the album.
Any big surprises or is it a lot of his familiar style?
EDIT Google search tells me that while I was doing "busy-work" homework I missed the live stream...I'm very upset now.

It's certainly all Jason Aldean, but I think even the most traditional of fans will have to give credit where it's due especially when they hear a song like Two Night Town. Whether he straight up admits it or not you can tell a lot of subject matter comes from a personal place (as in the divorce controversy) which isn't a bad thing. I'll say it now. Whatever awkwardness I had when hearing Burning It down at first is gone away because Old Boots, New Dirt as a whole seems like a guy owning up to his mistakes and making no excuses/trying to be better.

Much more of a slow album if you want to call it that then a party album. "Too Fast" stuck out at me, but that might just because I'm always living in fast forward, instead of the here and now. But overall I am excited for this album!

I thought the production on this was completely different than previous albums; the first half was R&B/pop rock and second half more traditional, I guess you'd call it. One or two party songs? If that. Slower tempo overall & different direction for Jason.

Shit, now I'm so excited to hear this dang album lol October 7th can't come any quicker. Night Train and My Kinda Party were two phenomenal albums IMO, so I can't wait.

I really want to listen now too. I was nervous about what the album might sound like after BID, even though I like the song, it's just not country, but these comments make me feel a ton better. I loved his last two albums and contemplated not even getting this one, but I think I will.

"Two Night Town" is available on iTunes now! I really like it a lot, definitely the best of what's been released so far.

I know I haven't heard the rest of the album yet, but pleeeeeeeeeease let Two Night Town be a single at some point.

Two Night Town is up on Spotify as well. This was a stand-out to me when I streamed the album last week and I still love it. Jason's vocal on it is fantastic, and I love the old school arrangement.

Two posts in a row, but it's been a while & it's not like this place is teeming with Jason fans :X
From Roughstock: sales for 9/17 are 79k for a total of 815k. Really, no sign of this slowing down sales-wise, so platinum in 3 weeks, maybe 4. Probably will be peaking with airplay around the time of album drop on 10/7, so well-played, Broken Bow.

I for one actually like "Burnin' It Down" and I think this is much better than a "Bro Country" song. He could've stuck to what he was doing on his last album, but he wanted to grow as an artist, so I am glad he picked Old Boots, New Dirt as the title because it fits very nicely to what he's doing now. I think it is awesome that Garth Brooks supports Jason Aldean as well. Maybe in the future he can join Garth Brooks on tour, now that would be awesome!

I'm not sure a stadium tour would do that justice...the biggest tour act of his time with possibly the biggest right now (Luke and him are pretty much even), I feel that business-wise that would be a brilliant tour to do.

"Burnin' It Down" retains the #20 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. The single got certified RIAA Gold Jason Aldean holds the distinction of charting three tracks within the Hot 100: #20: "Burnin' It Down", #76: "Two Night Town" (New-Entry), #99 "Sweet Little Somethin'" (dwindling down from last week's #71)

I like GKWWH quite a bit, I feel it's a bit like "Tattoos on This Town", different, but similar theme of leaving your mark on a town. Though, I have to say, too much of a good thing...is a good thing.
