Wow so in a 2 week span we will have new songs from Blake, Darius, Joe Nichols and Chris Young. The charts are going to be overloaded! There is no way all of these songs are going to make it to #1, there are certainly going to be some casualties.

I wonder if this is going to be a up tempo or mid tempo ballad.

Wow, adds date only 5 weeks before the album release...now that's a small window of time. I wonder if the September 30th release has something to do with the Grammy cut-off date (I'm not sure when that is)? Otherwise I would've thought they would wait and release the album in October or November even, giving Blake the typical 12-week window between lead single release and album release.
Anyway, I like the title of the song so hopefully it's really good. The album cover is great, too. I haven't been the biggest fan of Blake's recent material but he's one of the most popular country artists right now and he could get anything up the charts fairly quickly, so I hope they take advantage of that and put out a really high quality song. The big stars need to set the bar higher when it comes to material that gets recorded.

Blake's cover art when he's pictured always looks so cheesy & posed to me. I'm thinking of the last album cover, that gawdawful Christmas album that looked so photo-shopped, and now this. He just doesn't seem like he can take a natural, comfortable, authentic-looking picture.
But, it's the music that matters, so we'll see.

I'm assuming it's a combination of the Grammy cut-off date + the fact that they'll want to hit right as The Voice is launching its season (there should be heightened interest when the season starts due to the new coaches). Plus, I don't think opening week sales for this album will be too notably impacted (either way) by the single's presence at radio.

It's basically the same type of cover art as "Doin What She Likes". It also doesn't say "Neon Light" anywhere in that photo. But I loved the album cover so much that's why I used that in the original post when I started the thread, lol.

Ha, I just went & tracked down the artwork for Doin What She Likes, and yeah, they all look so uncomfortable & unnatural to me. Love the album cover, though. Creates an definite mood; wonder if the album will live up to that mood.

Me too! If you can find Elbert West's 2000 "Livin' The Life" its excellent beginning to end.

And as for releasing in the end of September vs. releasing in Oct/November, the 4th quarter is seriously stacked in Country. They want to release and debut at #1 so they're all angling for specific dates and getting in BEFORE Taylor, FGL, Garth release is probably a good idea.

This song is available on the 18th to radio, and goes for adds the 25th, so does that mean this song won't be getting Clear Channel treatment?

The add date is much less meaningful when it comes to a star as big as Blake. I suspect we'll be hearing plenty of this song come the 18th, with a Clear Channel Deal.

www.facebook.com/mark.irwin.1428Mark Irwin shared Blake Shelton's photo. Feeling doubly blessed this evening...first to be able to say we have the new Blake Shelton single, and second for getting to share the ride with two of my best friends...Josh Kear and Andrew Dorff!

I still think it's a pretty generic, dull, and uneventful cover art for a lead single. The white backdrop where "Neon Light" is put isn't that great looking IMO and the picture itself is about as white bread as you can get in cover art these days. The only difference between this cover art and "Doin What She Likes" is that there's a blue truck now instead of a green one.
That being said, it is the actual song and the quality of it that I'm most concerned about. I've been fairly critical of Blake's recent output of material over the past 3-4 years and I pray that this song along with the album is more like the Blake of The Dreamer, Barn & Grill, and Pure B.S.

Even though I would consider myself a fan of Blake, I have to admit that I was hoping for a longer break from his music. I think the fact that every single on his last album got progressively worse and worse rubbed me the wrong way (in my opinion). That being said, his lead singles have always been my favorites. I loved "Honey Bee", it's one of my all-time favorite country songs, and I also really liked "She Wouldn't Be Gone", "All About Tonight", and especially "Sure Be Cool If You Did". That reason is giving me hope for this song, along with the fact the title sounds very interesting.

This isn't bad. I'm not too big of a fan of the chorus, but it might grow on me. Definitely has a hip-hop kind of beat to it. Lyrically doesn't bring up anything new, but still a decent enough song. This will for sure be another #1 for him.
