I wonder if Tim having another song with the same exact time will hurt his iTunes single sale with this song?

For now, you can hear the song over here. I like this, although "Meanwhile" was certainly superior. Ultimately, this comes across somewhat underwhelming considering this song carries them over into when the album comes out, when you would think they would want something with some "impact."

Not as unique as Meanwhile, but this has that old Tim feel to it from the very beginning. Surely better than Looking for that Girl, but that's not really a tough feat. I could see this one being a top 5, but maybe that's just wishful thinking that crap like Leave the Night On won't make it there instead.

That's pretty good. I echo the sentiments of others that it's not as good as MBAM, but MILES better than most Tim releases of late.

I might be the minority, but I actually prefer this to MBAM. This does have a good vintage, amazing driving type of song to feel it, and I LOVE those types. When I heard the title I wasn't expecting much, but this has far exceeded my expectations. I hope this can be his next #1, and it might have a possibility depending on the timing of other songs on the charts.

I actually love this one & much prefer it to either of the first two singles. This has a head-bopping, fun vibe to it; the kind of song I'd like to sing to driving down the road.
Sometimes Tim's pronunciation/enunciation bothers me a bit, but this has none of whatever it is that can get under my skin. I love the oh-oh's.

I don't love this song but it's a pleasant listen. Tim sounds nice with a melody that is quite catchy. The lyrics aren't ground breaking but there certainly relatable. I could easily see this one growing on me a becoming one of my favorites for the year.

it's weird that he would record the same song twice or two songs by the same title he recorded shotgun rider for his 2007 album Let It Go as a duet with Faith

^With that.. I hope in concert he will do both back to back at some point. Essentially both go together if you think about it.

I have to say that I'm a little surprised at just how quickly this song is climbing. It moves 24-19* in only its fifth week, despite getting passed by Carrie Underwood. This has to be one of Tim's fastest climbers in years. It seems like he has a lot of momentum back on his side now.

I just love this song. I'm glad to see it flying up the chart at such an impressive rate. MBAM had to grow on me a bit, but this is pretty instant. Very strong melody and production for this one, imo. I haven't previewed the album at all yet, but this seems like a perfect single release, and on the strength of this and MBAM, I really need to get around to checking out the rest of Sundown Heaven Town soon.

This has grown on me a lot. It's a good change of pace after MBAM and sounds great on the radio. This should be a big #1.

Such a great album and a pretty good single from Tim. I like this and City Lights. Sick Of Me would be a great single too.

This continues to fly, up another 2.2 million AI and hitting #16 in its sixth week. This is moving more like a lead single (without an hourly deal) than a third single. I think it'll end Tim's Billboard #1 drought, probably even before the end of the year.

Another big week for Tim..."Shotgun Rider" gains over 2.1 million and moves 16-14 in its 7th chart week. Yes, that's right, it only needed 7 weeks to out-peak "Lookin' For That Girl". "Meanwhile Back At Mama's" was at #19 after its 7th chart week, with 16.2 million in total audience. "Shotgun Rider" is just short of 19.6 million in week 7, so it's about 1-2 weeks ahead of the pace that MBAM moved at.
Both Brad and Carrie are threats to re-pass this in the not-so-distant future (it looks as if all of them will battle each other the rest of the way up the chart), but nonetheless, things are looking good for Tim. I don't think Tim can catch Big & Rich or Parmalee next week (unless either of them decides to go recurrent), but he's definitely closing in fast.

The other surprising thing for this song is how strong the sales have been. It's selling really well for a more traditional sounding song. It seems as if Tim McGraw is about as hot as he has ever been minus the Lookin' For That Girl blunder.

It seems as if Tim McGraw is about as hot as he has ever been minus the Lookin' For That Girl blunder. I don't know if I agree with your last sentence--Tim is still among the biggest names in country but 10-15 years ago was when he was red hot with smashes like "Live Like You Were Dying", "Just To See You Smile", "Please Remember Me", "Something Like That", etc. He's definitely seen a noticeable uptick again, though, dating back to "Felt Good On My Lips" (I don't really count "Me And Tennessee" because Curb totally dropped the ball with that amazing single, and Tim was on his way out the door then anyway). "Better Than I Used To Be" seems like it was bigger than a #5 hit. But I agree with the first sentence...I'm absolutely floored at how well this is selling. It's up to #6 on iTunes country now, and 4 of the songs ahead of it are the current top 4 songs on Mediabase ("Burnin' It Down", "Leave The Night On", "Dirt", and "Neon Light"). The only other country song ahead of Tim is Carrie's "Something In The Water". And it makes sense that those songs would be ahead as they all have way more airplay (aside from Carrie's, but hers is also brand new and not available on an album yet, so she has an edge there). I figured "Shotgun Rider" would be a big hit but it's shooting up the iTunes and airplay charts faster than I would have guessed (especially iTunes).

I wonder whether this will go up ahead of or behind "Something in the Water." Carrie has been gaining on Tim pretty much every day in audience, but Carrie and Tim could level out to roughly equal gains once they hit the top 10.

As long as Tim McGraw does not keep Carrie Underwood from reaching #1 like he did in early 2011 when Felt Good On My Lips prevented Mama's Song a #1 ranking.

Officially his 52nd top 10 in only its 9th week. Pretty incredible. This puts him at second place during the BDS era, after George Strait with 61 top 10s.

Boy, it was a photo finish though between Tim and Parmalee as "Shotgun Rider" finished 119k ahead in audience. Luckily Parmalee got top 10 on MB this week. That 52 is a pretty incredible number though.

Looks like "Shotgun Rider" will go up ahead of Brad, Carrie, and Parmalee. Parmalee's single has low sales and a high number of weeks on working against it and Arista Nashville has to push two songs up at the same time, so "Shotgun Rider" will probably get to #1 this December before "Something in the Water" rather than having to wait Carrie out until January or try to do any sort of big push to stay ahead/jump back ahead.

I think he'll hit #1 in December as well. I'd guess that he will hit #1 after Maddie & Tae, who should get #1 in mid-December. That would work out well, as a fourth single could be sent out at the beginning of January.
