Well, that was a disappointment considering that her first era went 6-single deep and all but WYWF reached top 20 on the pop charts. I got that WIU was a novelty song made to splash quickly on the charts, but 4ITM was good and deserved better, and the album certainly deserved at least another top 20.

I'm excited!!! Radio never gave her a real chance and I don't care if they snub this. She is just ultra cool and her two albums were classics. More pharell collabos maybe rick Rubin ; will.i.am stay away!!! Are you talking about radio never gave Gwen a chance or No Doubt's last release? Her last cd had 3 singles reach the Top 20 at Top 40 radio. Wind It up - #18 Sweet Escape - #2 for 2 weeks 4 In The Morning - #16 but was on the Top 40 chart for 18 weeks. This info was from R&R CHR pop charts. "Now that you got it" and "Early Winter" were singles that didnt do well on radio.

Anyone else still jam to Danger Zone regularly? Damn that was ahead of its time. My favorite non-single Gwen jam has always been "The Real Thing." That and "Waiting Room" from Rock Steady are my favorite non-singles with her vocals. (Thirded by "One More Summer")

WIU as the lead single definitely screwed up TSE as an era. Had TSE been the first single, followed by Early Winter and 4ITM I think she would have parlayed that momentum into 3 smashes in a row. Early Winter is definitely her smash that never was out of her catalog, imo (it was never even released outside a handful of European countries). Then Now That You Got It and Fluorescent as smaller hits to close out the era.
Actually Early Winter may have worked best as the lead single since WIU was released in late October, so it would have been the perfect time of year for Early Winter.

Tbh I never really cared for her music. I'll be interested in hearing it, but my hopes aren't that high. I think Fergie will blow Gwen out of the water with her song.

I remember a few years back I heard a version of WIU without the sound of music sample and that beat was amazing. I just don't think radio was there for a pop song with a Rogers and Hammerstein motif

I first heard WIU live on her LAMB tour in like, 2005. I don't remember hearing the SOM sample, but I do remember thinking that it was an absolute JAM. So I would agree with that actually. The sample almost worked, but ultimately didn't.

Apparently this song will be produced by Ryan Tedder and Benny Blanco. Benny & Gwen sounds exactly what I need from pop right now.

Apparently this song will be produced by Ryan Tedder and Benny Blanco. Benny & Gwen sounds exactly what I need from pop right now. What's interesting is No Doubt worked with a list of writers/producers (Ryan Tedder included) back in 2013 when their follow up to Push and Shove was supposed to be released. Then things were put on hold randomly and there was radio silence from the band for the remainder of the year. I was surprised to hear that Gwen has enough solo material recorded to release a full length album but now I'm starting to think they took a lot of those 2013 recordings and simply re-tweaked the material to be more pop Gwen friendly. I hope more background on the creation of this album becomes public soon. In regards to solo Gwen being a "2006 artist" along with Fergie, let's not forget Gwen was also a "2004-2005" artist with the monster hit that was Love.Angel.Music.Baby ;) Lastly, Gwen is performing "Hella Good" on the season premiere of The Voice Monday night with the rest of the judges...will be interesting to see her perform a No Doubt song without the band!

Gwen said she's working on both solo material and No Doubt material simultaneously, so she could have done separate songs with those producers for both herself and the band.

"It sounds like if One Republic were fronted by a woman."
I hate hate HATE "Love Runs Out" so there goes a good dose of my faith down the drain.

Cool is her best song ever. It would be amazing if she could top it, but I doubt it. It's a shame that "Cool" only peaked at #10 on Pop Radio, granted I believe it went top 5 on Hot AC and went top 10 on iTunes. I say this because as a major fan it's the most common song people tell me is their favorite of Gwen's...I have yet to meet a single person who remotely dislikes this song. The video is universally liked as well. Just proves that Pop Radio literally doesn't make sense some times.

I love Cool now as much as I did when it first came out. I loved it then because I was still shipping from Gwen and Tony Kanal.
