Yeah, thanks Bea. All I'm doing is expressing my passion and thoughts, which I'm allowed to do. It's not like I'm bashing posters and people left and right... I've seen much worse on many of these threads and I just keep on scrolling because I want nothing to do with it. When it comes to Keith, I feel the need to express how I feel but some of y'all seriously make it sound like I'm some obsessed idiot with no life and quite frankly, I'm not a moron but it sure makes one feel that.
For the second time in the short 9 months that I have been here, I feel the need to totally back away and just read rather than respond to anything in hopes of not getting attacked or my head bitten off for posting my thoughts. Just because I'm not as educated as some are with this kind of thing doesn't mean I'm not a person with feelings. Anyway, enough of the pity party.. I'll just stick to posting once in a while for the time being.
Good luck to Keith on his next single and I'll be here supporting all the way.

I've avoided this discussion since 'passion' seems to run so high. I'm sorry you feel bad because many don't feel the way you do and you think they are insinuating that you are a 'moron' or are attacking you. As a non-pulse insider and not very frequent commenter who reads all Keith Urban threads I really don't see that as being the situation whatsoever. And I don't see those who disagree or even don't like the song as being Keith non-supporters, detractors or anything besides calmly explaining their viewpoint. Since Keith is my favorite artist (out of all genres) I'd just like to say that I don't see this single chart summit as a travesty at all. The music world knows how big he is and really doesn't care that he got a split #1-happens all the time. For being an original outsider to the country world and a Rock guy his run has been fantastic. I buy every album Keith puts out, I like JJJ, but I actually don't think JJJ is one of his better songs. But many bought it and radio treated it quite well. The fact it is a lead single and also a cross over appealing song with nostalgia-very similar (ironically for the chart discussion at hand) to Kenny Chesney's 'American Kids' certainly helped sales. Sometimes radio just likes another song more or thinks it is the perfect radio song (and Kenny's more classic- Kenny -sounding singles always get very good treatment-I feel like he is just a perfect radio voice, even if he isn't a favorite of mine). Not trying to start issues by dragging others in but a travesty that is a real issue is the bias against female singers in general. For example- look at Carrie Underwood. I'm not a fan of hers at all but I can understand her fans being upset about her string of #2's. Even though I am one of the awful 'prefer male voices to female in general' music lover I can see this is a much bigger and more obvious bias/acknowledged problem in country radio than the male artists who have to settle for a split #1. I also will be supporting Keith all the way and can't wait to see what his next album brings.

I've heard lots of great songs which have made it to #1 at Mediabase while peaking at #2 @ Billboard; an off-the-top-of-my-head list would include One Of These Days, There Goes, and She's My Kind Of Rain just for starters; Gretchen's 'Homewrecker' also reached #1 @ R&R/Mediabase in 2005, although I have no idea how well it did at Billboard.

Gretchen's 'Homewrecker' also reached #1 @ R&R/Mediabase in 2005, although I have no idea how well it did at Billboard. Spent three weeks at #2 on Billboard. Blocked by a combination of "My Give A Damn's Busted" and "Making Memories Of Us." It took 14 weeks to hit #1 on R&R and only obtained that position by 312 total points.

Any idea when the follow-up to this great tune will be sent to radio?
He's had an exceptional 2015 and will undoubtedly wind up among the format's 10 most played artists.
Can't believe that TEN years have passed since 'Better Life' was scorching the charts enroute to a SIX week stay at #1.
