William Michael Morgan will easily be Top 20 on both charts. MB is already confirmed and Billboard William should be in the 18 to 20 range depending on whether or not he is ahead of Billy Currington or Miranda Lambert as all look to be pretty close to each other for Billboard.

I started this thread on June 24 of 2015. It went for adds on August 24th of 2015...it broke the top 20 this week. What would we ever do without your amazing support Country radio?

^^^^^More irrefutable proof regarding the inundation of bro-country music over the past 30-36 months and the unmitigated disaster it has become for country radio in making it SUBSTANTIALLY less listenable prior to the arrival of FGL and several dreadful imitators, and polluting an era in which exceptional songs such as this masterpiece as well as flawless singles from Jennifer Nettles, Brandy Clark and many other deserving artists go nowhere.
Even much better current and recent singles from format stars such as Billy Currington as well as format superstars such as Brad Paisley are struggling, and that's asinine IMHO.
Bob Kingsley pointed out on CT40 this weekend that 'Peter Pan' has been on CT40 for fifteen weeks which is admirable and downright respectable, but too many other standout singles have crawled up the charts as if they were stuck in super glue or something.

I'm betting on the album release date and title being announced. :) Most likely true. WMN is pretty good with getting records out.

WMM announced on his social media that his album will be titled Vinyl and will be out on September 30th. So I expect "I Met A Girl" to hang around for at least another 5 or 6 weeks...it should climb into the top 15 but I don't know if it can go top 10.

Label's almost got the whole panel on board with "I Met A Girl". It should make the top 15 at least.

If the album isn't coming out until the end of September, and this is already nearing the top 15, I can see them pushing this to the top 10. Very impressed by the chart run of this so far (although it's been an extremely long road).

With the album coming out in September I feel this will easily hit the top 10. I have a major market station here where I live and hear this song at least 3-4 times a day on it.

With the album coming out in September I feel this will easily hit the top 10. I have a major market station here where I live and hear this song at least 3-4 times a day on it. I don't think it's this simple. William needs to almost double his audience to hit the top 10. As of last week's Billboard chart, he was at 15.6 million in audience. Well, he'll need probably 28-30 million to reach the top 10 (last week's #10 song, "Peter Pan", had 31.5 million), and if it took him 43 weeks just to get to 15.6 million... I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. Obviously he's been gaining more per week lately than he did during the first 20 or so weeks of his chart run, but we're talking about him needing to gain probably 14-15 million in audience in 7-8 weeks. That's about 2 million in a week, and I'm not sure if he can manage that pace. By the time September rolls around, the top 10 will certainly look drastically different than it does now, so it's certainly possible if not likely that WMM will be able to move up a few spots if he can keep gaining audience. But I can't see him staying ahead of Billy Currington, Cole Swindell, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, and possibly Brett Young for that much longer. Maren Morris, Old Dominion, and Tim McGraw could potentially catch WMM between now and the end of September as well. I like this song so I'd certainly be fine with it reaching the top 10 even if it took nearly 50 weeks, but I still think a peak in the 11-15 range is more likely.

There's an outside chance this could reach the top 10 on Mediabase. Morgan's song been averaging roughly 160 spins gained per week on Mediabase since June. If that pace continues (it could hit a wall by the album drop date) and he continues to gain at least 1.0 million in audience per week (again, Mediabase), I could see a scenario he manages a top 10 peak on Mediabase (not Billboard), if the top 10 yields a weak spot in the 9-10 range (maybe 4600 spins and 31.0 million in audience for the #10 position) by the time Vinyl hits stores on September 30th.
It's still going to be a task to get "I Met A Girl" to hang on for the next 7-8 weeks but it's pretty impressive this one will last over a year since going to radio.

Is this one still discounted on iTunes? (I can't tell because I've bought it).
Either way, sales have been great lately and this one has continued its climb at radio.
I almost seem to think the recent top 10 success (and corresponding sales) for "Head Over Boots" has helped this one. Based on its recent updates, I'd say top 5 is definitely attainable.

Yeah it's still discounted at 69 cents, and it appears on the front main page in a section called "Great 69 cent songs".

I really don't think Top 5 will happen. 10 maybe, William Michael Morgan is at 45 weeks and once a song hits 50 weeks it becomes really hard to keep the song alive. I think William can get into the Top 10 but I don't expect anything higher than that.

Yeah, Top 5 ain't in the cards for this one at all. It has been on the charts way too long for it to make it that high and he'd literally have to almost double his audience to reach that threshold and there's no way country radio is going to let him take 45 weeks to get half that audience and then only 5 weeks or so to get the other half, lol. Top 10 is looking possible, though even that is by no means a sure thing since there are several younger and faster-moving songs in the Top 20 or just outside of it that look likely to pass him soon. This has done well, but it is more a testament to the strength of the promo team on this one than radio and fan interest given the slow climb and low sales that took a discount incentive for people to buy it.

Love seeing songs like this and Head Over Boots have success. Hopefully this isn't the only song that hits on radio for him.
* Also, for anyone who follows baseball closely, this guy is like, identical twins with Tyler Naquin from the Indians.

KCYY in San Antonio (who is known for spinning new singles earlier than anyone -- they jumped on "Move" and "Church Bells"/"Dirty Laundry" before they were even announced as singles) has spun "Vinyl" 23 times over the past seven days. This was supposed to be the next single back in the Spring but considering "I Met A Girl" took off, I was thinking they would release another since things may have changed over the past few months.
I'm still expecting "Vinyl" to get a terrestrial radio release after "I Met A Girl."

Wow. Pleasantly surprised this is still churning along. This and "Night's On Fire" have had some long runs.
I wonder who will have the highest in the end.

I like "I Met a Girl" a lot (although I'm very sick of it), but I LOVE "Vinyl" so this makes me super excited for the possibility of it being a single. I always knew it was a strong possibility but this information makes me even more hopeful.

I love "I Met A Girl" too but I've heard it sooooooo many times, lol. "Vinyl" though, is a great single to me. It's mid-tempo, catchy, traditional but just contemporary enough to ease pesky programmers. It's a total JAM every time it comes on The Highway.

"Vinyl" shits all over this one so I can't wait for this one to be done so we can get to that one, honestly. I like this song, but mostly because of the neo-traditional sound of the production and his vocals, but the structure/melody of this song has never been a favorite. It's enjoyable to hear on the radio from time to time, but it's been around so long and it hasn't held up the best imo. I'm ready for them to move on.

I'm over here completely tired of both of them. One of those times when The Highway jumping on something is more of a curse than blessing. Please don't disown me.

Sometimes I wonder if that's a BAD thing. If it's a Highway-only single, fine. But for them to start spinning the song 6 months early and then for the song to have a 10 month radio run is absurd.

I've thought the same exact thing but I don't think it'll matter in the end. They did the same thing with "Dibs" (played it 3-4 months before "Love Me Like You Mean It" peaked) and "Dibs" still did well at terrestrial radio. It's unfortunate for folks like us who often listen to The Highway but there's still a substantial number of listeners who have never heard the song.

Good point. I got rid of my Sirius subscription because all I listen to is country and The Highway isn't worth a penny to me. (Y2 was fine but a little too repetitive for me).
I personally haven't heard "I Met a Girl" that much at all (on the radio). But my stations around here are laggards--I'm still hearing "I Love This Life", "Think of You", and "Little Bit of You" 10x a day. Sigh.

Y2Kountry still plays some gems time-to-time but man, they are in love with about 15-20 songs ("Cowboy Take Me Away", "When The Sun Goes Down", "You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This", "Toes", "Please Remember Me", "Who I Am", "Only In America", etc.). It won't kill you to play a song that peaked at #15 guys. WYRK just added "I Met A Girl" last week, lmao. Every once in a while they do that and the PD even hinted to me once that they pray the song goes away and they're not forced to add it (when I asked her why they haven't added "Home Sweet Home" by The Farm yet...). I've heard "I Met A Girl" plenty on The Highway though, so no worries for me. :)

To clarify, we only have XM in one car, but I hear IMAG every time I'm in the non XM car, too. WMM played a show here a couple months ago so one of my stations was on it early, and they haven't slowed down. I honestly hear it more than I hear songs like Make You Miss Me and Different For Girls (which I've literally heard once).

I'm now confident this will easily reach the top 10 on Mediabase before Morgan's album drops on September 30th. WMN requested conversions in Aircheck this past week and stations have bought in (360 spins and over 1.6 million in audience gained this week). If "I Met A Girl" can hold off ZBB and Billy one more day, this will move up to #12 on MB. Theoretically, this could reach the top 10 by August 28th, since "Fix" will be gone by then and "Head Over Boots" should fall below, too; Morgan would again, just need to keep ahead of "Castaway" and "It Don't Hurt Like It Used To." Whether it comes next weekend or later, this will at least reach the top 10 on Mediabase (Billboard might happen too but that will take longer and is not guaranteed yet).
It makes sense stations have converted this one so rapidly the past month; incentive is there with Morgan's debut album dropping next month and the top 10 is well within reach. Once this song reaches its goal of top 10 and the album is either dropped or a week away from dropping, I'd imagine this song will free-fall, and the follow-up single will be announced.
