Yeah, this is pretty random and unprecedented, but I guess good for him and neo-traditional country music that radio finally decided to truly take hold. I think the biggest reason is probably timing since there was a need to start to power stuff up and not a lot of options since the Top 20 has been fairly weak lately. I'm over this song though... ready for "Vinyl."

My new favourite artist. Like a young George Strait. "Mission" is incredible.
I hope country radios will return to be...country radios, with this kind of artist/music (and Jon Pardi, Eric Church, Chris Young, Chris Stapleton, Chris Janson, Tim McGraw when he sings songs like Humble & Kind, How i'll always, be, Meanwhile back at mama's ecc.; and Blake Shelton who has a great country voice...I hope that the exclusion from the CMA do it back to basics ...).

This guy is great. Hopefully he doesn't sell out like Easton Corbin (the guy I first thought of as a young George) did.

He just released the song "I Know Who He Is" on iTunes and it's a gem. Anyone who has lost a loved one/knows someone with Alzheimer's can definitely relate to it. Also it was written by Eric Church.

After hearing this and "Missing", he might be my favorite newcomer over the past decade. I love this man.

I have yet to hear a bad WMM song, I second the notion that he's one of the best new artists in awhile. "I Know Who He Is" is one of those "check your pulse" songs.

"I Know Who He Is" is the best country song released in years. It's like a weeping George Jones ballad straight out of the 80s. This dude is incredible.

I want "I Know Who He Is" as the 3rd single. That's the kind of song that could immediately turn him into a complete star. I'm sure there's plenty of really good songs on the album but IKWHI is a career defining type of song.

"I Met A Girl" got leaped by "It Don't Hurt Like It Used To" today on Mediabase's rolling chart. Billy's song has gained 585 spins and 4.4 million in audience on Mediabase this week...whoa, that is one hell of a conversion rate. Morgan's song isn't doing bad itself though as IMAG has gained 430 spins and 2.0 million in audience itself.
I still can see Warner trying to max for #1 ahead of UMG since Vinyl drops on September 30th and even though "I Met A Girl" is doing great, radio stations would probably prefer this one to be over with sooner rather than later. But Billy's song is on fire. Its testing good and programmers have fallen in love with it. I still think "I Met A Girl" has a decent shot at the MB #1 but "It Don't Hurt Like It Used To" is becoming a problem of sorts. Of course, we still have to consider both Tucker Beathard and Kenny/P!nk in this scenario as well.
Personally, I'm tickled pink by the success of both "I Met A Girl" and "It Don't Hurt Like It Used To." Morgan's song is one of the most surprised I've ever been about a song taking off, the way it has the past couple months.

Is just beautiful, a prime example of why I love country music. Hell, the whole chorus, smart lyrics and a story that just touches you.

I think he could release anything from this album and it would do well. I'm hoping "Missing" will be a single, but I see that being more of a spring break/summer single, or maybe he surprises us by releasing it anyway. "I Know Who He Is" has a very heartfelt sound and the lyrics are pure country. I hope this song gets released as well.

Yeah, "I Know Who He Is" is a stud song. The more I hear from this guy the more I like. It's amazing that a mainstream country artist (and a newcomer of all things) can make quality traditional leaning country music like this. Imagine if guys like Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan wanted to record some songs like this.

I Know Who He Is was written, I believe, by Casey Beathard and Eric Church....still floored Church didn't release it on his record. Been one of my favorite songs since I heard it more than a year ago.

Been one of my favorite songs since I heard it more than a year ago. Three Year Old is a nice song and all but I wish I Know Who He Is would've made the cut over that one. Figured there were plenty of slower songs on Mr Misunderstood, but Eric could've gotten a big hit out of it cause I bet he'd have released it to radio. Definitely a surprising move, though Morgan does a great job with it.

Oh woah, had no clue this was even Top 10. Awesome that this has a shot at #1.

Warner is maxing for #1 this week. No surprise with the album dropping on Friday. They'll most certainly get there by Sunday on Mediabase.

So is Billy going to wait another week for #1 or will we actually have a competition this week?

So is Billy going to wait another week for #1 or will we actually have a competition this week? I don't think Billy is at a point in his career where he can afford to let another artist get in front of him. While I love IMAG, I think this song has to claim its rightful spot at the top next week.

It makes too much sense to push this week. Morgan's song is older, the album drops on Friday and the gap is manageable, especially on Mediabase.
Radio knows Billy is pushing next week, I wouldn't worry.

This song is solely written by Casey Beathard so that may be why EC didn't put it on an album. I read the liner notes from WMM's CD and then just checked the BMI database. Either way, it can and should be a future single for WMM.

I love this song, love this young / old artist. I would like the consecration with a # 1! At least on MB ... according to you he has hopes at least in one of the 2 airplay chart? Billy Currington is definitely the frontrunner and he has a great single, but it could wait a week for pushing? Or next week Kenny Chesney will work for have multiple weeks at the top?

Billy can wait for a week. This needs to hit #1 so they can release "Vinyl" next. Then Billy can fight with Tucker and Kenny/P!nk next week for #1

My projections have "I Met A Girl" very close to overtaking "It Don't Hurt Like It Used To" for #1. If today's update happens tomorrow (WMM gains 167 spins vs. Billy's 57), Morgan should be #1 on the rolling chart by the morning. If not, then Sunday should do it but it's going to be a little close for comfort.
"I Met A Girl" has out gained "It Don't Hurt Like It Used To" by about 1.2 million in MB audience since Monday, so the Billboard #1 is still very possible but WMM needs to basically double up (or close to it) Billy's audience gains on Saturday and Sunday to have a shot...which is basically what happened today (WMM - +922k/Billy - +588k).

Thanks to a 212 spin, 1.1 million in audience gain, "I Met A Girl" is the #1 song on Mediabase this week.
This song went for adds on August 24th of 2015, so it took 58 weeks to reach #1 if we go back that far (52 charting weeks on Billboard). 46 weeks in Mediabase's top 50.
The race for Billboard is very close. Billy might still have the lead today but by a slim margin.

There was a 600k audience swing on Mediabase today between "I Met A Girl" and "It Don't Hurt Like It Used To", with IDHLIUT being the beneficiary. I'm expecting Billy to come away with Billboard tonight.

The majority of America will think this is a #1 hit since the syndicated Bob Kinsley show uses MB. I always thought this was a good song but ever since it started to take off over the summer it has definitely one of my favorite current singles. I'm hoping single #2 gets "Dirt On My Boots" treatment aka gets off to a fast start and blasts into the Top 40.
