Ahh. Got done talking to my contact at WYRK and he said "Vinyl" will be the next single, barring a last minute change of mind. Great second single. It's traditional but not so much that it should hurt it at radio.

I really love "Beer Drinker" cause it's a fun song and I love that twangy guitar. This time of year heading into summer I love songs like that. But I knew it wouldn't be a single. Could you imagine hearing "Vinyl", "Outskirts of Heaven" and "Holdin' Her" back-to-back-to-back? All I have to say to that is... YES. So much yes.

"Lonesomeville" is the best song by far, but "Beer Drinker" seems like the best chance at radio.

I can't put my finger on it...but he sounds like somebody. Billy Currington, Easton Corbin, maybe? Will take me a few more listens. I like it. A little slow, but solid. Joe Nichols?

This song has had a really good week, gaining almost 1.5 million audience on Mediabase. I figured if Sirius knew that "Vinyl" was next, this would be almost done. Either way, glad to see it picking up some steam.

Either way, glad to see it picking up some steam. Nah, that wouldn't matter. The Highway's had "I Met A Girl" in regular rotation since last summer and they needed a new song to play. They played "Dibs" for months before it was officially released to terrestrial radio and it still went #1 on MB/Billboard Airplay, so it's not a huge deal if Sirius/XM spins the supposed next single for a while before terrestrial radio gets their hands on it. I support them continuing to promote "I Met A Girl". The sales are improving and stations/call-out isn't that sick of this one yet (even for it's age -- though the fact it was in low rotation for so long in the 40's might be why -- think "Outta My Head" or "Love Like Crazy"). I'm certainly not saying "I Met A Girl" will end up peaking like those two songs but I wouldn't be shocked if they were able to milk this song for a few more spots on the chart and have Morgan's music be exposed to more listeners and programmers. It would help the next release. I'm glad this song is continuing the climb, even if the climb has taken forever and a day.

Pretty big discrepancy between positions for this one. It sits at #29 on Billboard but #35 on Mediabase. There will be a little house-cleaning on Mediabase over the next two weeks as four songs will be going recurrent so I expect this one to be on the cusp of the top 30 on MB by then.
"I Met A Girl" gained no audience today but gained 95 spins, so those were the overnight variety. I think Warner will continue to push this as hard as possible, as long as radio's willing. It has found a little spark and they're going to get this one as high as they can before letting go.

As long as Morgan can stay ahead of Jennifer and Eric, "I Met A Girl" should be top 30 on Mediabase this week with Cole, Bryant going recurrent and Stapleton falling below.

"I Met A Girl" has gained over 500 spins and 3.0 million in Mediabase audience the past three weeks. Went for adds last August. Took well over 30 weeks just to crack the MB top 30. Cumulus block and Westwood One coming aboard helped immensely. {Spoiler} Let's keep this up. I don't predict a "Love Like Crazy" or "Outta My Head" length chart run but this song's chart prospects have gone up exponentially lately.

Is this still hanging on? Yes. Up two more spots to #24 on Mediabase this week. I'm not sure how much longer this one can last but the label is committed as long as radio allows them to push it.

This song always takes me back to country radio circa 1995. I'd like to see this at least go top 20, so I'm quite alright with the label pushing this as long as it takes.

I agree and I have still not seen this on CMT. Wondering what that is all about? They need to start playing more Country sounding music videos.

While I like this song (it definitely has grown very old with me though), I am obsessed with "Vinyl" and would really love that to get released next. I'm hoping this can peak within the top 15 though and that we get his album soon! Glad to see we should be getting some news about it soon.

This one still moving up slowly.
It is also rising nicely on iTunes. Is it discounted? I can't tell because I've bought it. It's now up to about where it is for airplay, disregarding tracks that are not receiving current airplay. That's pretty impressive.

Speaking of long lasting chart runs...Warner Music put this ad in Country Aircheck for "I Met A Girl" on Monday. Morgan posted on twitter a couple weeks ago he had news coming soon on his full length album announcement and I'm assuming that will be coming before the summer is over -- probably a fall release. I'm thinking they'll push this one into the top 20, maybe top 15 and that will be it since I can't see radio sticking with this longer than that. That would be a good peak for Morgan's debut single and maybe WMN has enough momentum for his next single (whether it's the scheduled "Vinyl" or another option by that point) to connect with programmers quicker (though that wouldn't be too hard of an accomplishment, given "I Met A Girl" lasted almost a year since going for adds) on the brink of his album release. BTW: I know Jason Aldean was helping Morgan out by his complimentary quote but the last part was a little funny, at least to me. "I hope he does well because I think we need this kind of thing in the format."Yeah, me too! I do think we need actual Country music in the Country music format, lol.

I found it funny too, though I'll admit that Aldean has never really forced this issue that he is a "country" artist, always tending to claim rock more than anything else. Though having one of the biggest stars in the format put over WMM, can only help this song and him as an artist.

This will officially be top 20 this week! 23 20 WILLIAM MICHAEL MORGAN I Met A Girl 3405 3234 171 20.733 Actually William will be at #19 this weekend since Keith Urban's "Wasted Time" is leaving as he is on Strike 3 of 3 for Mediabase without a bullet this weekend so this helps William move up four spots from #23 to #19 this weekend :). YES, finally top 20 after 255 days on the chart.

Miranda Lambert is looking to debut right around where this one is, so it's possible that he only moves up to #20 instead if she gets ahead of him... but either way, yes, it will make the Top 20 at last.

No, we are talking about Mediabase here, not Billboard, she is way back at #29, will be up 1 this evening to #28 after Keith is removed. YES, she could be top 20 or close to it for Billboard on that chart tomorrow, but she is debuting at #28 this weekend, with William at #19.
