Oops at Coldplay, really thought about 250k for them. Maybe they can trend upwards a bit later in the week.

Bad Coldplay numbers considering they sold 380k+ only last year. Perhaps this will be a key example to stop artists from withholding from Spotify? I still think that only works when it's someone like Adele or Taylor Swift and even in those cases, I don't know how many more albums they sold from avoiding freemium streaming. And I can't imagine these numbers would be much worse if the album was on Spotify. Might Justin Bieber even get #2 on SPS?
Just waiting on the Adele projections.

Coldplay is streaming exclusive on tidal. So they might get 20 or 30 streams.

Underwhelming numbers for Coldplay, poor numbers for Kid Cudi, decent numbers for Troye Sivan, great numbers for G-Eazy.

Coldplay doesn't have a hit single.
They've been around 10+ years.
It's just diminishing returns.

G-Eazy went up from his last album! Ouch for Ross, Ouch for Cudi. Ouch for Coldplay. A little bit of promo would'be helped lol.

Coldplay's album is on vinyl? By the way- the FYE in the Lehigh Valley now has a vinyl section (it reduced its CD section to make room for it), and it had a bunch of turntables. Vinyl really is returning, idn't it? Some of the prices still are a bit high for brand-new, but...

Coldplay doesn't have a hit single. They've been around 10+ years. It's just diminishing returns. Yeah but "Adventure of a Lifetime" seems to be doing well on their core formats (top 10 on Alt and #2 on Triple A) and also top 15 on HAC. I don't remember how "Magic" did but didn't that perform around the same range? (I don't remember "Magic" doing well on HAC though) They did have "A Sky Full of Stars" but I didn't expect them to go under 200k even with the diminishing return thing...

Weird is that Coldplay sold 100k in the UK in ONE DAY. I really predict it can go higher than 180k in the US too.

That includes pre-orders though, and if you pre-ordered the album you get access to the pre-sale of their tour tickets or something. Plus they've always done better in the UK. Not to mention their latest single in the UK is getting huge airplay support - it even knocked Adele's "Hello" off the top spot in airplay for a brief period! Their numbers are quite disappointing in the US though for sure.

Troy Sivan has another album out? This is his first album; you're remembering his recent EP

Yeah, Coldplay selling 150k this far into their career isn't such a bad spin but the fact that they opened with 383k just last year gives this a bad read. My thing with their albums post-VLV (especially the last 2) is that they kind of lost their identity chasing current pop music. This album isn't horrible but it's pretty pointless.

Coldplay seems too low. Maybe HITS is really underestimating for them

They only released Ghost Stories last year, so maybe A Head Full of Dreams isn't as anticipated or long-awaited?

It'd be interesting if Troye debuts at #5. Same position as both his EPs. Remarkably consistent. I wonder if he will ever earn a radio hit.
