Carrie performed CCA during her CMA Fest set. Possible single following Church Bells?

draggintheriver Gosh, I'd love that! I really wasn't banking on it after "Church Bells" got released because they're both murder songs, but it is Carrie Underwood we're talking about, so she could literally release anything and be just fine... and I still believe CCA would be huge, so there's that. Having that as a single with a great cinematic music video to match would also help make up for the lack of one for this song, too! I wasn't crazy about a live video for "Church Bells," but I must say she's been totally killing it with all the live performances of it. <3

Where I'd love for "Choctaw" to be a single, I'm not overly confident that the performance at the CMA is any confirmation of this. In Carrie's Periscope talk the day of the CMA Fest she stated that they have no clue what the next single will be, but that she does love "Choctaw" and she said she's performing that one tonight. I think the positive reception of the songs live performances and Carrie's love of it could increase its chance at being released. Some of the releases this era (and even more so the order of them) has me pretty clueless / excited to see what they'll release next.

If anything, I think its chances of being released are very good. It just seems like they're setting up for it to be next - even if Carrie says she doesn't know the next single, I find it hard to believe she hasn't at least thought about it, you know? She may say that to the public but I'm sure there is behind the scenes stuff when it comes to single choices. This has to be a little more than a random decision...

However my concern with the performance of it is that they are confident it won't be a single and are therefor giving it a performance slot, like "I Know You Won't". It is an entertaining song to perform with the harmonica, etc. When will the CMA fest air anyway? Will there be enough time for "Church Bells" to peak and have a single announcement before "Choctaw" could air? Could be announced right before and then this be her debut performance of it. But I'm sure they wouldn't want to announce if "Church Bells" hasn't yet peaked...

CMA fest usually airs sometime in late August from what I recall.
I really hope "Choctaw County Affair" gets released as it is in my opinion the best song Carrie has ever done. If they do that then "The Girl You Think I Am" I will be ecstatic.

"Church Bells" is currently soaring through the top 10 (currently at #7, I think). I'm pretty sure it should be peaking sometime in early or mid July, if not sooner. I mean, you can never be sure because there's nothing natural about how the airplay chart operates these days... but I think in another 4-6 weeks it should be done/peaking. ETA: Carrie was interviewed at the CMA Fest press conference and she was asked point blank why she only did a live video for "Church Bells". She said she loves the energy of the song and that it represents the energy of the tour really well, so she wanted to showcase that. She said she's just so proud of the tour that she wanted to share it with everyone... So, it's her fault. But who could be mad at her for that response!?... lol

I see "Church Bells" peaking in 4-6 weeks including this week, this week at the top is Tim McGraw, I think Luke Bryan will go for a couple of weeks at the top, than Keith Urban and/or Jason Aldean going for the top (I have a feeling Jason will try and block Keith from the top on BB restricting Keith to a MB only #1 than get his own week at the top). After all of that "Church Bells" should easily move to the top for a week, the only song I see being a problem is H.O.L.Y by FGL. But I think Carrie will be find.

If she was going the route of a live video, it would have been cool to see her add a new element like she did at the ACMS, CMTs, etc.

Choctaw County Affair had special videos for it during the show. It's gonna be aired by CMA program. So, chances are VERY strong it'll be the next single.

It's better not to get your hopes up about CCA being a single. It's possible that Carrie picked that to be showcased on TV simply because she loves performing that song on tour (and she practically built the album around it).

Whether it's a single or not, I'm glad it'll be televised for a large audience. It's seems like a natural choice for the next single as it serves to showcase the tour well, it's super catchy and different (which is kinda Carrie's thing), and it's Carrie's favorite track on the album. Would be a great single to be promoting through the fall and into awards season - could generate a lot of buzz. We'll see. I just pray it isn't "Renegade Runaway".

I'll be ecstatic for CCA, Relapse, Dirty Laundry, Mexico, or Like I'll Never Love You Again. The only one I'd be legitimately disappointed with would be Clock Don't Stop. Or, to a lesser extent, What I Never Knew I Always Wanted.

It's usually easy to see what songs are short-listed for CMA tv performances. Most Nissan Field artists get one specially-produced video to be in floor/background during the song performance. This song was one of those. I don't see how it couldn't be a huge hit for her. It blends old school storytelling and modern production. It's time to take whatever "risk" it may be and put it out next.

I don't know if I could see them releasing two murder songs in a row, but who knows. I do lean more towards this getting a special TV performance simply because Carrie loves the song, but it not actually being a single.
I would be ecstatic with "Relapse" as the next single but I have a feeling there's a zero percent chance of that happening. Whatever it ends up being, I hope it gets a great video to make up for the past two underwhelming videos.

I don't know the sales for this but radio wise things are looking very good with Carrie being a comfortable distance between Jason Aldean & FGL. The only way I can see Carrie missing the top spot if Jason Aldean goes for a couple of weeks.

It would be a huge upset if Dirty Laundry wasn't the next single. It should have been the lead single and its the best song on the album.

"Dirty Laundry" has 15 new spins this week so far according to allaccess.com. So since "Church Bells" run will possibly end in the next couple weeks I'm going to say this could possibly be the next single.

It's looking like the next single, unless they have a last minute change of heart. The 15 spins came from KCYY in San Antonio. They're usually on top of these things.

Whether Jason or Carrie catch him by Tuesday.......we'll have to see.

Keith is likely to top both charts again this week, though.

The only reason I say that is Florida Georgia Line And Eric Church are coming along pretty strong behind too.

We'll see how things shake out with Jason/Carrie next week. FGL and Eric won't contend for top until the other three are out of the way. FGL is still 1,000+ spins and 6.0 million in audience behind Carrie's song. They will host CCUSA on the weekend of the 16-17th. I'm still betting on them getting their second single out the week prior to "Dig Your Roots" being released.

Isn't it looking like Jason gets the Mediabase #1 this week while Keith gets the Billboard #1? Jason is only 1 spin behind on Mediabase with another day to go. Carrie could then get #1 next week. Regardless politics continue to run country radio.

Keith got the MB #1 today as today is the final day of the MB chart. Also I'm willing to bet Keith gets #1 on BB. As for Jason and Carrie. I see two scenarios 1. Jason naturally goes for #1 next week while Carrie backs off for the following week. 2. Carrie tries to jump the gun and pass Jason Aldean to hit the top next week. More than likely scenario number 1 is going to happen. I do think Carrie will get a week at #1 as the gap between her and FGL is too big for FGL to potentially pass.
