As someone who never liked 1D, I have to say this is actually a masterpiece.

It's crazy to say this for a 6 minute song, but I would love a few more minutes of it really taking off. Totally love this song and I'm no fan of 1D.

I think this has the power to debut at #1.
I don't know why y'all were underestimating him. He's the most prolific member of the group.

This is SO GOOD! Exactly what pop radio needs. Hopefully this opens a door for more instruments being prevalent in pop music.

Anyone else getting "this song is not available" when trying to play it on US Spotify?

I love it! I caught the tail end of it this morning on my way to work and just heard the whole thing. I think it sounds like a 90s Aerosmith song. It's awesome!

I hope he flops. But I know his fangirls will instantly propel this up the charts. I'm interested to see what kind of music he'll make. He (and Louis) very much drove 1D's sound near the end. I know he's into the more dad rock type stuff, but he's also a lowkey famewhore, so he wants the mainstream success. I wonder what that will leave him with. But ultimately, I don't care for him or his voice. I'd be nice to see the "breakout star" and the fan favorite from a big group not succeed or be outdone by other bandmates. So, color me unsurprised. If he weren't the group favorite, this would be flopping tbh. It's along the lines of what I expected from him. I don't hate it, but I wouldn't seek it out. If it's a success in the US, it's off his name and hype alone. I expect this to be a huge UK hit. But he's going to have to give us something a little more interesting moving forward. I'm not looking forward to hearing this live though. He's going to shred his vocal cords when the climax comes.

I really, really like this. This>>Pillowtalk tbh and that one was fantastic. Hope it becomes huge. It WILL need a radio edit though.

I think it's a risky song, it's not current or in fashion right now, which frankly it's a good thing i'm a little tired of people taking zero risks and in the end big sales end in a lot of cases from people who sing whatever they want (i still remember people predicting in this same forum that Rolling in the deep or Stay with me would flop big time).
It's difficult to take any conclusion right now, he is extremely popular (i think he is the most charismatic of the bunch by far) so big big sales were expected and given the way it's smashing probably stay at the top of itunes for a good while. Radio reaction is predictable too, it will skyrocket till it reach some point (it could be top 20 or top 15) and then it will depend of how it's still doing on sales or if the song really found its audience.
One thing is for sure OD guys are not boring us releasing the same type of songs, all four first singles are very very different

Im impressed with this song. The bridge is fantastic. Not sure how pop will react but it should do well on hac and alternative.

This song is now on z100. So it's already more successful than Just Hold On.

First listened early this morning, and my immediate reaction was that I liked it but wasn't sure it could fare well at all on US pop radio because it would stick out like a sore thumb. The production is very Bowie - not Bowie inspired, just straight up Bowie with a touch of the Beatles' Something. This song is either going to chart very high or flop hard, I don't see any in between for it. After getting a chance to hear it on the radio a few times today, I'm leaning toward charting high. This does stick out like sore thumb on radio...but in a good way. I feel like the song invites you to listen at every turn rather than being off-putting and pushing you away. And ironically, despite - or maybe because of - it being less pointed than Katy's CTTR, this is the song people will more than likely gravitate toward as a so-called statement of our political climate. Harry being from the UK probably helps there too - can't really polarize his intent unless he goes out of his way to say something. This will smash ww regardless of what the US makes of it.

This is easily the best of the 1D solo lead singles and the first one I instantly liked. It's interesting to see how each 1D member went in a different direction musically.

Kind of a weird choice for a spring/summer single. I'm not really feeling it at first listen, but it might grow on me.

I don't know if I'd be retweeting a review calling the song bombastic because bombastic is not a compliment. In other words, it is calling the song pompous.

Wow really surprising to find the positive reaction to this song. I found it incredibly cloying and bland. Also seriously what an idiot for embracing the "bombastic" review and not understanding it as an insult

Also seriously what an idiot for embracing the "bombastic" review and not understanding it as an insult Yeah, that's a fan update account that gathered quotes from several reviews (the red pic) and I just edited my post to say that. And he or she did not claim they were all good reviews. Here's the full Guardian UK review with the bombastic quote. www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2017/apr/07/harry-styles-sign-of-the-times
