I think the throwback sound will continue taking over the radio for a bit. Dance Pop seems to be declining in terms of popularity and I don't really see it coming back for awhile.

The only thing I feel like predicting right now - because it's a pretty safe guess - is that Katy Perry's going to have a huge year again.

Azealia Banks' new album still won't be out and she will continue to have stupid, unnecessary beefs.
Beyonce will release a double album.
Brook Penning will become a hot new Pop princess.
Carrie Underwood releases a greatest hits album.
Christina Aguilera will have another hit.
Dance music will decline in mainstream popularity, but there will still be the occasional crossover hit.
Enrique Iglesias will continue to release singles and flop.
Janelle Monae will finally become an iconic star.
Justin Bieber does an adults only picture book, releases a pornographic music video, releases a hypersexual album, and flops horribly.

Katy Perry will continue to dominate.
Kelly Clarkson will release 2 albums: a Country and Pop album.
Kylie Minogue will have another massive worldwide hit.

Circuit house influences will start to become a thing as urban begins to creep back into the pop market.
God willing, post-dubstep minimalism gets a small push via a random British crossover act and it becomes the new thing to emulate.
#dreamz
More realistically, harder, beat-driven EDM and 90's Urban spike in popularity.
will.i.am will be an "it" producer.

Katy will have a big year but this era will be shorter than TD. The retro sounding urban music will slowly creep in the pop charts and will go higher. (will update this slowly til late November)

Carrie Underwood will release a Greatest Hits album, the lead single will smash in country radio.
Britney will have 1/2 huge hits from her new album (Perfume will smash hard). She will surprise us at award show singing Perfume live.
Taylor Swift will take some time off from music to make new album, and she will have 2/3 roles in big movies/TV.
Katy Perry will dominate in single chart again.
Rihanna will release a new album.
Christina will release a new music, singing about f*cking her body or someones body. Lol kidding. I have a feeling she will release a new album with ballad lead single.

So I'm thinking they are going for a modern version of Spirit. :)

Indie Pop/Alternative continues to grow in popularity
Dance-Pop declines and gets replaced by pure EDM
Some relatively forgotten artist from the 00's has a huge comeback, a la Justin Timberlake and Fall Out Boy in 2013

Adele's album will be the best selling album of 2014. It won't reach 21 levels, but will be the second best selling of the decade. Her lead single will debut at #1 on the Hot 100 with a 500k sales week.
An artist who hasn't had a hit since the 80s will have a big hit.
Bastille's "Pompeii" becomes a monster hit around February.
Britney Spears will have one top 10 hit this era.
Cassadee Pope's "Wasting All These Tears" will be a big pop hit in the spring. It will peak in May.
Eminem's "Headlights" will be another big CHR hit.
Fitz & the Tantrums will smash with "Out of My League."
5 Seconds of Summer will have a CHR hit with "Heartbreak Girl" after it surges to the top of iTunes upon its release (a la Ariana Grande).
Foster The People will release a new album, but will not break out of "one hit wonder" status.
Fun. will release a new album. It will go #1 on the Billboard 200 and will have 3 massive CHR hits.
Imagine Dragons will continue smashing with "Monster" and "On Top of The World."
Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty" will be his biggest hit ever. It will peak in January.
John Cena will have a hit single. It will be the theme song to WrestleMania 30.
John Legend will have his second top 20 hit on CHR.
John Newman's "Love Me Again" becomes a major CHR hit. It will be boosted by "The Voice" like "Blurred Lines" was.
Justin Bieber will have a 6th #1 album, but he won't go platinum.
Katy Perry will have 5 top 10 hits from "PRISM." The sixth will miss the top 20.
Kendrick Lamar will be featured on a top 10 CHR hit.
Luke Bryan's "That's My Kind Of Night" will become a bigger CHR hit than "Cruise" was, thanks to a pop remix.
Mayer Hawthorne will have an unexpected CHR smash with "Her Favorite Song" peaking in March. Follow-up "Designer Drug" will smash in July.
Miley Cyrus won't have another big hit from Bangerz after "Wrecking Ball."
Naughty Boy's "La La La" will be a big hit in the US. It will be his only hit, unfortunately.
The 1975's "Chocolate" will be a sizable hit on CHR.
One Direction will release their 2nd movie. It will top the box office, but won't outgross "This Is Us." Their 4th album will debut at #1 with a 300k sales week, but won't go platinum.
Robin Thicke will have one more minor hit before the Blurred Lines era ends.
The #1 song of the year will be by an artist nobody has heard of at this point.

Eminem's Headlights will be the biggest song of the year (on Billboard Hot 100, Pop, Rhythmic, Hot AC).
Due to the success of Headlights, Fun next album will end up being a big hit, and will open with over 300K.

We'll continue to see large amount of crossovers from many different genres (alternative, urban, country).
Album and single sales will continue to go down while streaming continues to increase, Billboard might reweight the formula.
We will see more viral hits chart like The Fox.
The biggest hit of the year will NOT be from a pop girl.
