Something interesting to note: Lauren Alaina and Kelsea Ballerini went for adds on the same day, and now they're seeing the end of their chart time on the same week with obviously very different finishes. It is so perplexing why only one/two women are allowed to move up the chart at the same time. This song flopping is even more confusing than "Next Boyfriend" since Lauren has an established name now.

Well UMG Nashville looks to have finally let go of promotion for this song. Negative bullet of 235. Happy this made the Top 40, but man I thought this was gonna go at least Top 20 first time I heard it. I imagine the label will probably have another new single out in time for her headlining tour this fall. Whatever that single is, I think it will be the last chance to get a hit. Radio does like Lauren Alaina (this did get a solid add date out of the gate) as does the general public evident by this song selling well. It's just the freaking flawed research that killed this one, I swear the people that are tested on for the callout scores are probably deeply sexist against women. I used to believe that, but there's no way for us to keep saying that at this point. Some radio people might like her, but not radio as a whole. Not radio 'system'. She released 8 singles and only 1 of them made it to the top 20. Radio likes Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, and plenty of male artists, but it's hard to think they like Lauren when they don't support her. There's no excuse for them to not play some of her singles (for me, Ladies in the '90s is one them).

On another note, I wish Lauren herself would be better at promoting her stuff. Not that it would help her that much on getting her songs played on the radio, but it does help on sales and specially streaming, and that's really important. Like, she released the music video for Ladies in the '90s and there was absolutely no word about it on any of her social media. The music video isn't that great but what artist does that? lol. She probably only shared the song on the very first week. I never saw her encouraging people to stream it. She also released other songs this year (Breathe Again as a soundtrack, and Surrender, a cover). She shared Surrender after a few days, but there was no mention to Breathe Again. I'm sure a lot of her followers would be interested to hear it. And yeah I know it's not a single or anything, but it's always good for people to hear your music. I don't think she keeps up even a little bit with streaming numbers.

I don't think she keeps up even a little bit with streaming numbers. A lot of musicians have this problem. First, not everyone is on social media. Second, unless I missed it, I didn't get an e-mail about Lauren's headlining tour. That is odd to me. I use Bands In Town, but sometimes, that site doesn't update and you only get notifications within 150 miles of where you are. Some musicians don't put gigs on their own website, but only on social media. Let's say someone is following 300 people. Sure, you can get push notifications, but things do get overlooked. Some musicians are good about putting gigs out there into next year, because some people are willing to drive/fly several hundred miles for a gig. I know this is easier said than done, but I think the people behind the scenes don't do their research in terms of finding venues that hold a few hundred people. A few years ago, I saw Eric Pasley and Lindsay Ell in a very small town in Ohio, but it drew a few hundred people. There are a lot of places for musicians to play.

Another new duet, this time with Chris Young. Love the sound of their voices together -- I've always thought these were two of the strongest vocalists in country. This along with the upcoming Jon Pardi duet could score Lauren a couple more radio hits, which I suppose is better than nothing if radio isn't willing to play her solo stuff. Bittersweet, I guess.

It would be nice if one of them had released the duet now so she would have something on the radio. Not sure what the plan is for releasing another song for her. I am baffled why LIT90s couldn’t get further country radio is a mess. In all other aspects of her career she is a rising star.

Looks like this flopping didn't stop an album from being started. Interesting that it's just NOW being started, but happy we are getting a full LP regardless.

I am so excited! It will probably be early next year for the album? Like RLT in Jan again? That's my guess...

Excited! Ladies in the 90s flopping was beyond disappointing but I’m ready for new music.
If the album is coming out in January like RLT, I predict a new single in the fall considering how long the climb will take.

RLT the single, which as we know essentially served as the lead, came out in August and didn't peak until March even with OTV. Their best bet is going to be pushing a new single ASAP so it can (unless it flops) be in a good chart spot by December/January. After that, hopefully Chris or Jon will push their duet at radio.

The album release date will most likely be dependent upon if/when she gets another hit. I imagine she'll need a top 20 hit or close to it before they drop it.

In the current state of affairs on country radio that means only Carrie Kellsie andMaren maybe Carly would be able to release albums if you are a female. I think the general principles in play in the past will have to be revised going forward.

Lauren's last album wasn't going to come out until "Road Less Traveled" took off because of the OTV boost.

I think she is in a little better place career wise with this album, her streaming numbers are decent, she is starting to be a good draw at shows and getting better performance slots at festivals etc. Hopefully she can find that song that radio can’t ignore and this speculation will not matter.
