#17. Faith Hill - "Cry"
Total Points: 797 Average: 37.9 Year Released: July, 2002 Radio & Records Peak: #10 Billboard Peak: #12 Rankings:ClevelandRox - 2 castleoblivion26 - 3 Cody Wants Out... - 3 someguy - 3 zaclord 🌈 - 4 tim - 5 .indulgecountry - 6 bboat11 - 8 Kanenrá:ke - 11 fearlessarrow - 16 CoJoFan - 26 ChicaCherry콜라 - 30 austin - 40 sabre14 - 46 toomuchboy - 49 Andy - 62 bigfan101 - 81 zack97 - 90 LBTrocks - 94 George Strait Junkie - 103 kw9461 - 115 Following: gonecountry"Cry" was the lead single off Faith Hill's album of the same name in July of 2002. It peaked at #10 on R&R in September, only spending 10 weeks charting. The song was a crossover success however, peaking at #19 on the pop chart here in the US and #1 on the AC chart. The song was written by Angie Aparo and included on her 1999 album, The American. This song definitely brings back nostalgia, I think our station played it 30 times a day. I heard it all the time driving from school to home on the bus I rode. It's pretty heavy handed in production, especially for 2002 radio, but I think Faith gives a good performance and the lyrics are really good as well. kw9461 finally loses his last place song. His ranking kept this one out of the top 10 and the bottom 2 ranks kept "Cry" from the top 2...

"Cry" is not a pleasant listen at all. Have never understood it's appeal... "The Impossible" is also cliched sappy drivel... so not a Joe Nichols fan.

"Cry" is a heavy-handed, overproduced adult contemporary ballad and is the type of song I should be meh on but I somehow enjoy it quite a bit.

This is such a fun RD. I love almost every song yet it’s been a fun ride seeing songs I love leave because I love just about everything left.
Cry is very good, still one I revisit from Faith.
Where Were You was such a moment, it’s hard to rank it too low.
I LOVE Waitin On Joe and am FLABBERGASTED it got this far, but so happy.
How is Kenny still in?

I got a perfect ranking for "The Impossible," but considering several from my top 18 are gone by now, I wish it had went a little higher. Easily my favorite Nichols song after "I'll Wait For You."

Because it's a great song. I know Kenny has his couple tankers here but that song is superb. I wish it had went a little higher. Easily my favorite Nichols song after "I'll Wait For You." I really though "I'll Wait For You" was going to do better in the 2007 rankdown, that's also my favorite Joe Nichols song.

"Good Stuff" gone.
The last 10 or so reveals have been devastating to my top 10. All that remains is my #1, but I know that's on borrowed time too.

#16. Kenny Chesney - "The Good Stuff"
Total Points: 778 Average: 37.0 Year Released: May, 2002 Radio & Records Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1 Following:zaclord 🌈 - 2 Andy - 6 George Strait Junkie - 6 bigfan101 - 12 kw9461 - 12 zack97 - 13 fearlessarrow - 14 sabre14 - 17 tim - 21 CoJoFan - 22 austin - 24 bboat11 - 26 castleoblivion26 - 27 someguy - 27 Cody Wants Out... - 30 ChicaCherry콜라 - 38 Kanenrá:ke - 75 LBTrocks - 96 toomuchboy - 98 ClevelandRox - 100 .indulgecountry - 112 Following: gonecountry
"He grabbed a carton a milk and he poured a glass I smiled and said I'll have some of that" "The Good Stuff" was the second single off Kenny Chesney's No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems album in May of 2002. It was written by Craig Wiseman and Jim Collins. It reached #1 in July and stayed there for seven weeks, becoming Kenny's biggest hit at the time and other than "There Goes My Life", "Never Wanted Nothing More" and "Don't Blink", it has been the biggest hit of his career. The song was named the biggest hit of 2002 by Billboard.
This song is fantastic. Some here don't like Kenny's vocals but idk what bad can be said of this song. It's such a great story but not only that, it's written together so beautifully. It doesn't follow a normal country story trope of emotional cliched verse and another, it ties together one man's story with another -- into something almost everyone can relate to.

I had internet issues with my PC tonight so hope to do this tomorrow at some point. Let’s guess which 5 songs will miss the top 10? George Strait – “Run” Tim McGraw – “The Cowboy In Me” Jo Dee Messina – “Bring On The Rain” Steve Azar – “I Don’t Have To Be Me (‘Til Monday)” George Strait – “Living And Living Well” Keith Urban – “Somebody Like You” Dixie Chicks – “Long Time Gone” Rascal Flatts – “These Days” Dixie Chicks – “Landslide” Martina McBride – “Where Would You Be” Carolyn Dawn Johnson – “I Don’t Want You To Go” Sara Evans – “I Keep Looking” Tim McGraw – “Red Ragtop” Sara Evans – “Saints & Angels” SHeDAISY – “Mine All Mine”

Loved the top 20 overall!
"The Good Stuff" is one of the handful of Kenny songs I actually like (though I would love to hear someone else sing it still).
"Waitin' On Joe" is such a great song I feel like I underranked it. :(
"The Impossible" is so so great I can't imagine why anybody would hate it!
Missing the top 10: George Strait – “Run” Rascal Flatts – “These Days” Carolyn Dawn Johnson – “I Don’t Want You To Go” Sara Evans – “I Keep Looking” Tim McGraw – “Red Ragtop”
I could see "Mine All Mine" or "Where Would You Be" switching with one of these.

Umm, can we just get rid of none of these? They are all top 5 worthy, more or less I predict these missing the top 10: "Landslide" (although maaaaaybe "Long Time Gone" will go first...) Either way, I think only one of their songs will make it. "These Days" "I Don't Want You To Go" "Mine All Mine" "Red Ragtop" Could also see "Somebody Like You" succumb to overplay right about now. Keith's songs usually do tend to fall around the 20-10 range in these '00s rankdowns, it seems. Although I would frankly be shocked as hell to see Martina make the top 10, considering how much WWYB has now outlasted "Blessed" and even Faith's "Cry". And also considering how people tend to tank her more harshly every time she cranks up her volume even slightly louder than mezzo-forte, and WWYB is her doing all-out fortissimo. Also, "Concrete Angel" was out by now in the 2003 rankdown, and that song was #3 in her artist rd while WWYB was #6, so theoretically I would assume it would finish in about the same place in a larger rankdown like this. Still, I'll hold out hope!! Also pulling for both Sara songs to make it, and both George songs Sara definitely has a very high chance, but George I am not so sure. He definitely deserves it, but "Living and Living Well" might have a few too many tankers due to overplay and such. "Run", however, could/should be a contender to win this thing... Also could see Tim's "The Cowboy In Me" being a contender to win! SO excited to see how this all plays out!!!

My guesses to miss the top 10:
George Strait - "Run" Sara Evans - "Saints & Angels" SHeDAISY - "Mine All Mine" Keith Urban - "Somebody Like You" Carolyn Dawn Johnson - "I Don't Want You To Go"
Those aren't necessarily what I would want to leave (come on CDJ!), but those are what I think are most likely to.

My guesses for missing the top 10:
SHeDAISY - "Mine All Mine" Sara Evans - "Saints & Angels" Tim McGraw - "Red Ragtop" Martina McBride - "Where Would You Be" Carolyn Dawn Johnson - "I Don't Want You To Go" (would be thrilled if this made it, but I can't find anything to bump)

"I Keep Looking" went out a fair bit earlier than "Saints & Angels" did in the Sara Evans rankdown so I'd be surprised if the order flipped here even with a slightly different pool of participants, but I guess we'll see. S&A is definitely the better song imo, so I hope it only one of them makes top 10, it's that one... but I actually think both of them might make it in.
My predictions for missing top 10: "Mine All Mine" "These Days" "I Don't Want You to Go" "Red Ragtop" "I Don't Have to Be Me (Til Monday)"

LOVE this song so much But not nearly as much as I used to. This song has been SO severely overplayed. It is still an excellent listen, but I am also sick of it and never go out of my way to hear it. Still in the running for being one of my favorite Keith songs though!

Also, WOW at my prediction actually being right about "Somebody Like You" missing the top 10! That was one I felt was pretty bold while making; I didn't actually expect it to happen!
