since everything minus two songs are in my Top 20 I kinda hope they are the first two to go. Not that I dislike "Letter to Me" or "Watching Airplanes" but I'd prefer they go before everything else remaining.
I'm thinking "Just A Dream" or "Love Don't Live Here" have the strongest chance at #1 but I'm not 100% sold on either of those being #1 either

#11. Darius Rucker - "Don't Think I Don't Think About It"
I sorry
As for my top 10 predictions...this is tough every song I can kinda see winning. I believe "In Color" will have enough detractors to bring it down, but pretty much everything else is well loved by a big enough portion of the Pulse populous. The two biggest surprises are Jimmy and Chris. Both I suspect low dislike carried them this far rather than high passion. Still that could win the game if everything else has enough tankers. 10. Laughed Until We Cried 09. In Color 08. Do You Believe Me Now 07. Watching Airplanes 06. You're Gonna Miss This 05. Gunpowder & Lead 04. Love Don't Live Here 03. What Kinda Gone 02. Letter To Me 01. Just A Dream Not confident in any of this list though lol. It could be flipped and I'd believe it too.

It reached #1 in September, becoming Wayne's first and only #1 single. The song was written by Tim Johnson, Joe West and Dave Pahanish. It was also Jimmy's first single for the Valory Music Company imprint, which was a new Big Machine imprint started a few months prior. Jimmy started his recording career at DreamWorks Nashville in 2003 but after the label folded, Scott Borchetta brought him over to Big Machine in 2006 for his single, "That's All I'll Ever Need." He switched to Valory at the start of 2008.
This was very contemporary leaning in 2008 but I still loved it. The melody and lyrics are a terrific fit. I knew it would be a hit the first time I heard it. The production is not the best, however, but I still think this is one of the defining hits of 2008 and an enjoyable listen.

Met Jimmy at CMA Music Festival in 2010. He was one of the nicest artists I’ve ever met. He came out before his signing session began just to talk to everyone. I thought back then he was going to have a pretty decent career but I was wrong.

Ah, I had hopes it could keep the run going even higher! Fantastic song, and I concur - one of the memorable and defining hits of the year.

Not one, but four people lose a #1 with our #9 song and seven people lose a top 10!

#9. Jamey Johnson - "In Color"
Total Points: 685 Average: 36.0 Year Released: March 31st, 2008 Mediabase Peak: #7 Billboard Peak: #9 Rankings:CoJoFan - 1 George Strait Junkie - 1 Kanenrá:ke - 1 recordyear - 1 sabre14 - 2 castleoblivion26 - 8 rgreen0625 - 10 kw9461 - 12 tim - 12 ClevelandRox - 18 Cody Wants Out... - 24 .indulgecountry - 28 raylatch98 - 37 zaclord 🌈 - 47 bboat11 - 85 LBTrocks - 95 austin - 96 toomuchboy - 99 someguy - 108 Following: bigfan101carriefan15"In Color" was released in March of 2008 as the lead single off Jamey Johnson's That Lonesome Song album. It peaked at #7 on Mediabase in December. Jamey wrote the song with James Otto and Lee Thomas Miller. It was Jamey's first single for Universal's Mercury Nashville division, after his album The Dollar was off Sony's BNA Records in 2006.
"In Color" would go on to win the 2009 ACM and CMA Song of the Year, as well as be nominated for Best Country Song and Best Male Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards in 2009.
I knew this would have a few tankers but I'm happy it made the top 10. What an outstanding song. The lyrics are sooo good and chorus is very distinctive. The music and production accompanies the song, instead of overshadowing its lyrics. I have no problems with Jamey's voice but I know that was a reason why people don't think it. If it wasn't for "Letter to Me", it would have definitely been my favorite from 2008.

I love "Do You Believe Me Now" and am pleasantly surprised it made the Top 10. Would have liked it to have lasted a little longer but I am okay with it going first too. There isn't a bad song remaining.
"In Color" however should have been Top 5. I wish Country music was still coming out with songs like this one because it is part of what made me love Country. Not a fan of Jamey's voice either but I don't hate it and it works perfectly with this song!
Scared to see what will leave next. Also surprised to see so many people think "Letter To Me" should be the #1, I've always just been meh with that song. Not saying I dislike it in any way it just never stood out to me enough to be a favorite.

For the record Jimmy's two first singles from Valory aside I liked pretty much all his other singles. Even "Sara Smile" I liked though it was a horrible single choice. With DYBMN I found the production drags it down and I don't care for his vocal on it.
"In Color" is such a fantastic song and is easily one of my favorites of the previous decade. The story it tells is amazing and I get chills still whenever I listen to it!

#8. Trace Adkins - "You're Gonna Miss This"
Total Points: 681 Average: 35.8 Year Released: January 14th, 2008 Mediabase Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1 Rankings:tim - 3 Kanenrá:ke - 4 CoJoFan - 5 castleoblivion26 - 6 sabre14 - 7 zaclord 🌈 - 11 recordyear - 14 kw9461 - 17 .indulgecountry - 19 austin - 25 rgreen0625 - 28 Cody Wants Out... - 32 raylatch98 - 44 George Strait Junkie - 48 someguy - 50 ClevelandRox - 65 bboat11 - 74 LBTrocks - 111 toomuchboy - 118 Following: bigfan101carriefan15"You're Gonna Miss This" was released as the second and final single off Trace Adkins' American Man: Greatest Hits II album in January of 2008. It reached #1 in April and stayed there for three weeks. It also reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went double-platinum in sales, making it Trace's biggest chart hit of his career. The song was written by Ashley Gorley and Lee Thomas Miller.
Trace didn't think the song would do well at radio when Capitol Nashville decided to release it. Trace just had a song flounder in the top 40 with "I Got My Game On" and he thought they would move on to new music. He was grateful he was wrong lol.
I'm not sure I know anyone who can't relate to this song. It's just so damn true, it's scary. It clearly connected with the public. The sad part is, I don't think anyone really appreciates something until it's gone forever...

I knew there'd be a few tankers and I'm not surprised who did. I loved when this was charting just how big it got. Showed what Trace could do when he chose good material.

#7. Jason Aldean - "Laughed Until We Cried"
Total Points: 668 Average: 35.1 Year Released: August 1st, 2007 Mediabase Peak: #5 Billboard Peak: #6 Rankings:kw9461 - 2 castleoblivion26 - 4 Cody Wants Out... - 7 bboat11 - 9 sabre14 - 10 CoJoFan - 12 toomuchboy - 23 tim - 25 someguy - 27 raylatch98 - 28 zaclord 🌈 - 29 austin - 36 rgreen0625 - 37 Kanenrá:ke - 52 recordyear - 56 ClevelandRox - 60 LBTrocks - 66 .indulgecountry - 78 George Strait Junkie - 107 Following: bigfan101 carriefan15 "Laughed Until We Cried" was released as the second single off Jason Aldean's sophomore album, Relentless in August of 2007. The song had a long climb up the chart until it finally peaked at #5 on Mediabase in early April of 2008. The song was written by Ashley Gorley and Kelley Lovelace.
This is without a doubt, one of Aldean's best singles. Such great lyrics, music and production. I could argue its his best vocal performance as well. It's probably my second favorite of his, behind "The Truth." I also loved "Amarillo Sky" and "Why". "Hicktown" was a guilty pleasure lol. His first two albums were very good and after 'She's Country" came out, it started to get worse and worse, in terms of his musical output.

While I didn't get the order right in my top 10 predictions I have predicted 4 of the 5 to miss top 5.
Let's say "Watching Airplanes" misses just to give my guesses a little more accuracy.

It was released in July of 2007 and peaked at #3 in March of 2008 but held on to the chart through April. It was written by Dave Berg, Candyce Cameron and Chip Davis. The song was Cagle's last top 10 single at country radio.
I love taking a simple idea like someone walking out of a relationship and creating this story-line of the narrator not knowing what kind of leaving she's doing? lol It's a creative premise if you ask me. We're not even told if she did walk out entirely lol. This one has always been a jam and a song I never got tired of hearing.

Glad it made top 10, but damn, I was rooting for this or Carrie to win.
Love the whole top 5 but at this point I'm worried "Letter to Me" might be #1 and it's my least favorite of the 5, lol.

“Gunpowder & Lead” is her second best song, iconic. Instrumentation/melody is AWESOME and the lyrics are fantastic. I didn’t expect this to win, but I’m so glad it made top 5.
