Then, there were three...
Brad Paisley - "Letter To Me"
Lady Antebellum - "Love Don't Live Here"
Carrie Underwood - "Just A Dream"

Any of these 3 winning would be extremely satisfying.

Hoping for Love Don’t Live Here but all of these are excellent so I won’t be disappointed regardless.

#3. Brad Paisley - "Letter To Me"
Total Points: 510 Average: 26.8 Year Released: October 22nd, 2007 Mediabase Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1 Rankings:sabre14 - 1 kw9461 - 3 raylatch98 - 4 recordyear - 5 austin - 6 bboat11 - 6 tim - 8 rgreen0625 - 16 George Strait Junkie - 17 CoJoFan - 18 someguy - 19 LBTrocks - 20 zaclord 🌈 - 20 Cody Wants Out... - 23 Kanenrá:ke - 42 .indulgecountry - 52 castleoblivion26 - 58 ClevelandRox - 86 toomuchboy - 106 Following: bigfan101carriefan15"Letter to Me" was released as the third single off Brad Paisley's 5th Gear album in October of 2007. It reached #1 in February of 2008 and stayed there for four weeks on Billboard and three atop Mediabase. Brad wrote the song by himself. The song won a Grammy Award for Best Male Vocal Performance.
Thrilled this made it to the top 3. This has been my favorite Brad single since it was released. I was 17 years old the first time I heard this and it was definitely speaking to my situation. As a teenager or even when I got into my low 20's, I thought my life was going awful. If you would've told me in 2007 or even 2012 that I would be getting married, have a job that I wanted as long as I could remember, and more friends than I could have imagined, I would've thought you were lying. Brad said he wrote this to give young people hope because nowadays, being in high school or even college is often, not the best years of your life with the demand and stress that comes with being that old nowadays.
I'll never forget the time I got in a fight with my dad after a Brad concert in the summer of 2008 and after walking to the creek that morning, a man told me to just forget it and assume I was wrong...

"Letter To Me" was my lowest rank left! So I'm glad it's out here, but I do really love it. A lot. The lyrics are AMAZING and hit me in the damn feels. I can't listen to the "PS go hug Aunt Rita every chance you can" line without tearing up! Damn. I guess I can't even type it without tearing up.

sabre14 the lyric "Each and every time you have a fight, just assume you're wrong and dad is right" is easily my second favorite lyric in the song... if I would have taken this advice I would have had a MUCH more peaceful existence with my dad, lmao.

Lol, that fight we had was at like 2 am after my brother and I got back from Brad's concert. I have no idea what it was about. I walked out and went on a 2-hour walk to the creek, watched the sun come up lol. We made up later that day. No sleep lol.

My 7 vs my 19!
I'll give Carrie the edge here, I think "Just A Dream" will win.

Was rooting for Brad to at least crack the top 2, so a little bummed about that but Lady A is a deserving winner. Terrific melody and vocals and still probably my favorite Lady A single. "Letter To Me" is such a great song though. The lyrics were quite relevant to me back then, and they really hit home now. Just phenomenal stuff from Brad. That's the side of Brad that I really miss. Now he mostly just does country tropes, love ballads, and his silly up-tempos.
As far as the Underwood song goes, I regret nothing. It's overproduced, oversung, and overplayed (massively so). Never liked it at all.

Just want to say even I ranked Do You Believe Me Now?/Laughed Until We Cried/Watching Airplanes/Love Don't Live Here low, it doesn't mean I hate them. Just not as good as others and would easily be top 40 if they are in more recent country year-end rankdowns... Do You Believe Me Now? sounds like pop rock of that time to me. Not remarkable imo. Took some time to grow towards In Color. But this song is really poignant, especially during the bridge. Plus I don't think Jamey's vocals are bad and honestly his voice can be really soft. My high school class teacher played You're Gonna Miss This before I graduated from there after she noticed the cliques in my class, so this song has an extra meaning to me. Maybe I am still too young to relate this song but I know I probably will in the future... Even though I am mild on Jason Aldean's singing, Laughed Until We Cried is still an uncommon meaningful song from him. Solid piano and banjo in What Kinda Gone. Also as you said lyrics are somewhat unique. I really hope new Miranda Lambert album sounds like Gunpowder & Lead. What a badass song especially that gunshot sound! I guess I may have underranked Watching Airplanes after all, but when your #44~#85 are all 6/10, the songs that are slightly less than average are going to have a very low rank. Maybe I don't like the orchestral elements in this. Letter To Me is prime Brad Paisley finding perfect balance on humor and sensibility. Plus one of the best chorus melody I have ever heard. Agree that the production and vocals of Just A Dream are a bit too strong but that's early Carrie Underwood for you. The music video added a lot of points to this. Love Don’t Live Here feels like a good driving tune but I don't drive lol. I have always like Charles' vocal more than Hillary's, and this song is closer to country than adult contemporary so I like this better than Need You Now. I just don't think it is distinctive enough to rank higher. sabre14 thanks for hosting this rankdown!

Carrie should've had this. Damn. </3 But I love Lady A's song too. Still a solid winner! Glad Brad only got third considering the other two were way better imo. Thanks for hosting sabre14!

Thanks for hosting sabre14! Didn't think Lady A would pull out a win here but it's still such a fantastic song that I can't be mad at all!
