And what do your delusions of grandeur about Monica and Faith Evans make you? nothing delusional about Monica having 3 #1s from the same album for 22 weeks, or about Faith Evans having an average of 4 or 5 videos a year even when she doesn't have an album out.

Its delusional to think they are top artists.....and its delusional to think anyone cares about them UNLESS they have a hit......which is rare for Faith.

BlueNote's list contradicts itself ten times anyway. I'll take Tony's list and run with it. 1990: Janet Jackson, Wilson Phillips 1991: Mariah Carey 1992: Michael Jackson 1993: Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton 1994: Boyz II Men ~TLC 1995: Mariah Carey, Hootie & The Blowfish 1996: Alanis Morissette 1997: Puff Daddy/BadBoy 1998: Not sure, BSB I guess. ~Monica, Brandy 1999: Britney Spears 2000: 'N Sync 2001: Ja Rule, J. Lo 2002: Nelly, Eminem 2003: 50 Cent, Beyoncé ~Outkast 2004: Usher The squiggles are specific ones I can think of who spanned the years. 1998 was definately all about Celine and BSB.

Like Santana-- DEFINITELY it, even if there were a lot of collabos there. I like adding Nirvana, too.

SCORE for you! people can care about whatever they want to but you are delusional to think people are not in this business to be successful. Stop livin a dream. Every artist that spends time recording and performing wants to be successful but not everyone is.....especially dispoasable r&b singers *cough* Monica *cough* Faith

Every artist that spends time recording and performing wants to be successful but not everyone is.....especially dispoasable r&b singers *cough* Monica *cough* Faith Look. First of all there actually ARE artists who don't care about the success. And even a lot of succesful artist care more about their craft; you can do that at the same time as enjoying your success (gotta make a living). As for Monica and Faith being disposable, that's being ignorant. Monica and Faith BOTH have nine entries in the R&B top 20 (all nine are top 10 for Monica and seven are top 10 for Faith), plus Faith has 5 more off the top of my head from her collaborations. I could go on and on about their accolades, both Grammy winners with several more nominations, Faith's impressive list of writing credits, etc. etc. But no need. If you knew much about the history of music at all, specifically chart history, you know that those stats alone put them in the company of all but THE biggest acts of all time. I'm talking there are MAYBE twenty, MAYBE, acts in all of R&B who have significantly more hits than that. And since both of their careers are still ongoing, they are only going to move up in those rankings. If you think only those acts who rank in the top 5% in terms of sales are worthy of note, that shows an extreme narrow-sightedness and lack of cultured taste on your part. I suggest you educate yourself further before you go around declaring very capable artists as "disposable".

You could interchange some other R&B singer with them and no one would know the difference. And this is about the IT people Faith Monica and Brandy were never IT people.

Did she collect a check? Would she even be making music if she got no money for it at all? I'm here to talk about artists that are relevant. So back on topic... In 1998 Celine Dion was the IT person with her My Heart Will Go On and the Titanic soundtrack.

There are plenty of vary talented, accomplished, and memorable artists who were never "IT". I still think Monica was pretty close to it; she fit the categories I outlined at the start anyway. A lot of the people you've all named have sold more albums but had much less singles success.

Willa Ford? Frankee? The only one who I barely agree with is Hilary Duff. And what's this about Billie Piper being the Pop Princess? Britney Spears anyone?

Anyone can get a hit single. Lumidee? Wayne Wonder? Kelis? How many albums have they sold? LMAO. who cares about single success if you cant get a PLATINUM album to match.

Yes, there are one hit wonders. They get ONE hit single. When you have NINE it says something. In fact, it's harder to get many hit singles than to sell lots of album. The artists who most often sell many albums without many hits are those artists who are popular with teens and other people who just go with the fad, like yourself.
