Yeah, I doubt Mariah will get any major nominations...and I know people are saying that she wont get any smaller ones either because of eligibility issues, but I see her sneaking in somehow

Beyonce's album is meant to be released in September and if it is it should rack up a few nominations.
Though I do see her album being pushed back to October or November because of Dreamgirls and the amount of work that will need to be invested creatively into the album.

^^Yeah right. Beyoka nows that she'll get a few Grammys if she releases it at the right time.

A few weeks ago I thought James Blunt would be the runaway winner for Best New Artist. I don't like him but he is obviously going to make it in the US. That was until I heard KT Tunstall. I love her current video/song on VH1. She's the type of artist the Grammy voters will go for. If Virgin Records can get some album sales for her, she's my frontrunner.

In the rock categories, expect Audioslave to come back bigger this year after they release their next album. Hoobastank could have a Best Rock Song candidate with If I Were You. Also, expect Evanescence to come back into the Best Rock Album category.
In alternative, I wouldn't be surprised to see People In Planes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and in metal, expect another System song to make it as well as Lacuna Coil's Our Truth. I think that's up for either hard rock or best metal performance.

^I can't see her winning anything since Mary is pretty much going to dominate the R&B categories next year unless Monica releases something absouletly amazing.

The Grammy's seem to have a select group of younger artists that they like, and all of them are scheduled to have albums out this year and they are Pink, Beyonce, Christina, and Justin. The other two are Alicia and Usher, but I doubt they will have anything out in time for the Grammy's.
So I think Pink, Beyonce, Christina, and Justin will represent the younger group, and Mary J., and Janet will duke it out in some of the R&B sections.

Theres no way im gonna predict the major category, but James Blunt and Ne-Yo are for sure be nominated for Best Artist.
On Pop i can see a big battle between: Pink, X-Tina, Justin and Nelly Furtado
Rock: Red Hot Chili Peppers are gonna rules
R&B: Mary J Blidge, Ne-Yo and maybe Janet Jackson

I think that COADF by Madonna can get a pop album nomination, esp. if the upcoming singles explode somewhat.

^I think it'd be WAY safer for them to just send it to Dance. It would totally win.

^I think it'd be WAY safer for them to just send it to Dance. It would totally win. Good point. I wonder which songs will Warner submit to which categories. "Hung Up" to Best Dance Recording and "Sorry" to Female Pop Vocal Performance? I won't be surprised to see the album being strong enough to grab some of the major categories, considering that we are already into February.

Mary and Ne-Yo have kind of fallen under the radar lately though so I dont think they will be nominated in the major categories.
Record of The Year *You're Beautiful *Bad Day *Hips Don't Lie *Dani California *? (maybe Crazy depending on how well it does on the charts and with critics)
Song of The Year *You're Beautiful *Bad Day *What Hurts The Most *? *?
New Artist *James Blunt *The Fray *Daniel Powter *Chris Brown (since there always seem to be a few "hip" young ones *nominated) *??? (It will be one of those random artists no one has heard of before)???
Pop Male *You're Beautiful *Bad Day * * *
Pop Female *Unwritten *(New Christina Aguilera song) *? *? *?
R&B Male *Run It *So Sick *? *? *?
R&B Female *Be Without You *(New Beyonce song) *? *? *?

Album of the year most likely will be from a veteran artist and a traditional Grammy favorite. Top selling pop albums usually don't win album of the year. An early favorite so far in that category would be "We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions" by Bruce Springsteen. It is from a Grammy favorite, it was well received critically, and it is off the beaten path in a mainstream sense, thus giving it bonus points in the eyes of the Grammy committee.
Album of the year typically will have two mainstream pop artists, one alternative rock artist, and one wildcard (a slot for wildcard genres, such as country or adult contemporary or for a traditional Grammy favorite).
If I were to give nomination based on what has been released so far I would say:
(1) Mainstream pop slot #1 - James Blunt (2) Mainstream pop slot #2 - Madonna (3) R&B/Hip Hop/Rap Slot - TI (4) Alternative Rock Slot - Pearl Jam (5) Wildcard Slot - Bruce Springsteen
Of course, there are still a few months to go before the Grammy cut off date, so there is plenty of time for other artists to emerge, such as Christina Aguilera.

I'll just put out some country predictions.
Rascal Flatts - Country Album for Me And My Gang (Hopefully), Country Song for What Hurts The Most (Definitely), Song Of The Year again for WHTM (Should be nominated) Carrie Underwood - Country Album for Some Hearts (Should be nominated), Country Song for Jesus Take The Wheel (Guarentee), New Artist (Should be nominated)

I know this might sound a little crazy......
but does anyone else get the feeling that Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix might get some love in the country catagories, and maybe even a general catagory (like ROTY).......
I mean, Ray Charles got alot of attention after "Ray" was released and stuff......but "Walk The Line" has a more successful soundtrack, and did better Box-Office....
I dunno why, but I have an incling that we might see Reese and Joaquin nominated in some catagories...for instance:
Best Male Country Vocal- Joaquin Phoenix "Cocaine Blues" or "Ring of Fire" or anything else he sings.
Best Female Country Vocal- Reese Witherspoon "Wildwood Flower"
Best Country Collaboration with vocals- Reese and Joaquin "Jackson" or "It Ain't Me Babe"
and in if it were really streeeeeetching......
Record of The Year- Reese and Joaquin- "Jackson" ......I doubt anything else would have a chance in this catagory.
what do you think?

Dont see Walk The Line getting noms. Besides when Ray got nominated, his passing away was still fresh and he got nominated anyway, not Jamie Foxx.
Dont see Pink getting anything.
Carrie will probably get Country Female and Country album.
