If the Grammys give KT an award, my faith will be restored in their horrible committee. LOL. You actually had faith in the committee? I don't think I have ever had any faith in their committee that can be restored.

I want Pink. I don't care that she wont get one. I want her to win one. Ditto. She won't though. I'm thinking that Song of the year will go to an Xtina-Perry collaboration, while record of the year will go to a song from Beyonce. Best new artist will probably be James Blunt, while Carrie can win one or two Country categories.

I think the USA has already had its share of foreign artists invading the charts. Compared to the likes of Natasha, James, Daniel, and KT, Corrine will probably be lost in the shuffle. And her song is extremely weak and cheesy too

I'd put "Ain't No Other Man" in as a lock for Female Pop Vocal Performance. I would wait to hear Christina's album before we go predicting that she will be in the Album of the Year category. I think I would die if I saw her in that category, lol.
I do think Dixie Chicks will make a big splash at the Grammys this year.
Also, "Jesus, Take the Wheel" will definitely be nominated for Song of the Year-- it just has to be!

Not really predictions, but I'd like to see the following:
I want Mariah's "Fly Like A Bird" to be nominated for something if possible. I want Jewel's "Again and Again" and Pink's "Who Knew" to be nominated for female pop vocal. I want Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous" or "Maneater" to be nominated for Song of The Year. I want Nelly Furtado's Loose to be nominated for album of the year.

I think Fly Like a Bird or anything else off the Mimi album is ineligible for being nominated this year (outside of the biggie main categories, which I doubt it'll get) b/c the album won an award last year (best r&b album). Same with Kelly Clarkson...since Breakaway won best pop album, "Because of you" or anything else from it can't be nominated this year.

That sucks.
Well damn't, I want "Fly Like A Bird" for record or song of the year then, lol.
Well would DFAU be eligable for anything since it was on a rerelease? I could see it possibly being nominated in an rnb or pop vocal category.

Also, "Jesus, Take the Wheel" will definitely be nominated for Song of the Year-- it just has to be! that would be crazy since "Since u been gone" wasn't even nominated for song of the year...it would just show that carrie is extrememly well liked by the committee if it is true.

I don't think Carrie will be nominated for Record of the Year, not at all. "Jesus, Take the Wheel," I feel, is extremely well written. Thus, I think the songwriters will get a nomination for it, but Carrie won't get Record of the Year or anything for it. As much as I love "Since U Been Gone," I couldn't see it being nominated for Song of the Year. Record of the Year-- yeah, it deserved that, I think, but Song of the Year, no. Rascal Flatts was nominated for "God Bless the Broken Road" last year for SOTY, and I could just as easily see JTTW in that category.

I don't know. There's always that country song in there, but I tend to think that slot will go to "What Hurts the Most" this year, since NARAS has proven friendly to Rascal Flatts and Carrie is an unknown entity in their regards. I expect her to be nominated in the country categories, definitely. But I think while she has the backing of the country music industry (or most of Nashville anyway), I'm not sure if the other voters would bite enough to put a song she sang in a mainstream categore.

"Promiscuous" has to be a front-runner right now for Record of the Year and I would be happy if it got in. Nelly Furtado's album should fit-in to Best Pop Vocal Album and I assume she'll submit "Promiscous" to Best Pop Vocal Collaboration (and hopefully take the win) and stick "Maneater" and maybe another single to pop/R&B/hip-hop to broaden her chances for nominations. Madonna needs to go dance for the album and "Hung Up" and for shits and giggles send a song to Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. People need to get off Christina Aguilera. As of right now I don't see any big four nominations; especially with "Ain't No Other Man." Maybe her second single will do something, and we'll have have to wait to see how the album is received. She won't have any problems with Best Female Pop Vocal Performance or even Best Pop Album. I'd like to see "Not Ready to Make Nice" and the Dixie Chicks's album in Song of the Year and Album of the Year... and my guess is that they'll go pop because it's a rather broad genre and they're not embraced by country radio like they were. James Blunt has lost a LOT of momentum, so hopefully he can keep it up for Best New Artist, Best Pop Album and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance because he definitely has shots at those. Although I despise "Jesus, Take the Wheel" I can see it getting a Song of the Year nomination and I wouldn't be shocked to see Carrie pop-up in Best New Artist. I imagine she has a lock on the country categories. Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson won't pop-up in Record of the Year or the Best Short-Form Music Video categories. I bet "Hips Don't Lie" wil be a Best Pop Vocal Collaboration nominee.
Thanks, Ben

Does anyone know if Kanye is actually releasing his third album this year? If he does, and it's decent, he will win Album Of The Year. No contest there.

But I think while she has the backing of the country music industry (or most of Nashville anyway), I'm not sure if the other voters would bite enough to put a song she sang in a mainstream categore. "What Hurts the Most" is by far one of Rascal Flatts' weakest singles. I will be very upset if that is the country song that shows up in Song of the Year. Then again, Grammys are very hit and miss with me. Many times I am in total agreement and other times, I think someone has a few screws loose. Ultimately, in recent years, Alan Jackson's "Monday Morning Church," "Remember When," and "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning" were the best written songs in the country genre, but I don't remember any of them getting nominated. "Where Were You..." may have, but I don't remember. I feel that lots of the great country songs are lost in the shuffle, but they truly are the greatest songs in my opinion. Alan Jackson has proven that he is among the cream of the crop in country music. I feel like "Jesus, Take the Wheel" is just one of those songs that should be nominated for one of the top awards. But like Alan Jackson, it's highly likely that it, too, will not get the nominations it deserves. "God Bless the Broken Road" over "Monday Morning Church"-- are they insane? Ok, I'm done rambling.

corrinne bailey rae would sweep this years Grammy.... I think that's quite possibly a likelihood. She is receiving so much cult buzz at the moment, including being considered the next Norah Jones among many, who we are well aware has already been showered with Grammy success. K.T Tunstall will prove to be a formidable challenger, however. Her lead single has become a much bigger hit than I thought it would, and now I'm beginning to believe she has what it takes to actually win the Best New Artist Grammy, where I think the academy will easily favor her over Natasha Bedingfield, Gnarls Barkley and The Fray. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Corrine Bailey Rae has gone to America too soon. She never really got established in the UK market - yeah, she had her big song and album - but where is she now? No one cares anymore here and she'll have nowhere to go back to if it all goes tits up in America.

Dixie Chicks are the Grammy's big winners, sweeping "Album of the Year" and all eligible country catagories. Carrie Underwood wins "Best New Artist" and "Best New Country Artist". She'll lose "Country Song/Record" to the DXC.

I tend to think the Dixie Chicks have alienated quite a bit of the country industry. I wouldn't be surprised if their label submits Taking the Long Way to pop.

Hits' midyear grammy predictions: Midyear Grammy Predictions: At the midway point, it’s basically a crap game, but it sure looks like the Dixie Chicks’ Taking the Long Way and single, “Not Ready to Make Nice,” are the front-runners for Album and Song/Record of the Year. Johnny Cash’s posthumous American V has to be considered the other odds-on candidate for Album, along with New Artist candidate James Blunt (whose “You’re Beautiful” is a definite in the Song and Record of the Year categories), rapper T.I., rookie diva Corinne Bailey Rae (perhaps the frontrunner for Best New Artist), hardy perennials Neil Young and Paul Simon as well as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bruce Springsteen (locks in the Rock and Best Contemporary Folk Album categories, respectively). Other New Artist candidates include Gnarls Barkley (look for “Crazy” to be up there for Song/Record), KT Tunstall, Rihanna, The Fray, Panic! at the Disco, Daniel Powter and Arctic Monkeys. Rick Rubin, with the Dixie Chicks, Chili Peppers and Cash under his belt, has to be an early choice for Producer of the Year. —RT www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news06269m01

Gnarls Barkley is a lock for ROTY, y'all. It fills the Gorillaz/Black Eyed Peas/etc. space of this year.
If Panic! can ride their momentum 'til the end of the year, they might be able to do some big things.
I wonder what's gonna take the Coldplay spot this year.
And Faster Kill Pussycat better be up for Best Dance recording.

Cascada might be up for something in the dance category since EWT became a huge hit and if Miracle becomes a hit then they will most likely score 1 nod or so.
Christina has received rave reviews for ANOM from everywhere so that song will score a record of the year nod and I wouldnt be suprised if her album get AOTY nod.

I don't think ANOM will be nominated for Record of the Year.
I think it may go a little something like the following...
Record of the Year:
James Blunt- "Beautiful" KT Tunstall- "Black Horse & The Cherry Tree" OR RHCP- "Dani California" Gnarls Barkley- "Crazy" Dixie Chicks- "Not Ready to Make Nice" Random Old Person that Probably Died During the Eligibility Period
I foresee 2 nominations for Christina-- Female Pop Vocal and Pop Album, both of which she will lose.
Female Pop Vocal she may lose to KT Tunstall, and Pop Album will probably once again go to Timberlake.
I dunno, just what I'm thinking as of now. Granted, I haven't heard Christina's album, I'm merely grasping at straws right now. But I don't think ANOM will get a Record nod. I'd love to see that happen, but it's highly unlikely.
