It seems like she is just messing around and having fun. She is in a lovely place in her career in my opinion. She probably made enough money not to have to worry and there are really no pressures/expectations. She can do what she wants.

Morissette, who inked a new deal with Maverick in 2001, says she's ready to start a new project. "I have four journals-full at this point and I usually start a new album after two journals-full," she says. "So I'm very pregnant with songs." She also just released a cover of the Black Eyed Peas "My Humps" to the Internet, in which it has received almost one million plays in just a matter of hours. She promises a new album out last this year, and no later than next summer.

I hope so. I wonder how much anticipation this cover could build for more Alanis stuff since it seems to be getting more attention than her own songs have.
I thought Alanis wasn't happy with her Maverick contract? I've been wondering for a while when it would end. I'd like to see her somewhere else. I'm not sure what she could do in a new album to make me love her again though. I love the old Alanis and I really liked her last CD but I can't see her doing anything to make me really love her like I used to. I'll be waiting though. I'm almost ready for a new album.

I just saw the my humps video. THANK YOU MISS MORISSETTE...she is the most important singer of our generation.....i hope this sends a message to fergie ferge....that song completely objectified women....not only does it show how ridiculous the original song was, its such a better version (almost beautiful), and reminds how beautiful alanis' voice is and how goddamn good looking she is!!! So take that Fergie....bitch slapped. By both Alanis and Nelly F (selling more world wide thank u very much!)

Alanis is dying for attention. She recently made a public statement about her engagement problems and requested "privacy' as if anyone cares. ON Best Week Ever they were mocking her for that, as if anyone is following her around and worrying about her life!
Funny thing is, the BEP and Fergie know it's a silly song, it's not meant to be serious.
And didn't Alanis try to turn into a sexpot and fail at it when she went from carrying bugs in her pocket at awards shows to wearing leather? LOL
Hardly the behavior of a legend. She is dying for any attention she can get.
Fergie has the attention she wants now, she is a has been.

^^ I don't know. Maybe she and her friends just did it for fun. I know me and my friends did a "Deja Vu" spoof video but hey, nobody will ever know cause we're nobodies. I don't think Alanis thought this would get so big. And hey, maybe it wasn't even meant to be released but someone got a copy of it and released it. Let's not judge, shall we?

Exactly! She is not like Wierd Al who actually pays for rights and does clever changes and doesn't mock the artists. Her last CD was a major flop. She told the press to back off of her personal life because of her break up and wantΓ«d "privacy" . on Best Week ever they were mocking her about even thinking anyone cares about her life. Not to mention Fergie and the BEP did the song as a joke and a fun statement on things. Like it or not men do that and so do women, and Will wrote the song for FUN. Alanis is trying to make a name for herself by mocking the industry because she will not make it as the industry is now. She tried her sexy makeover and failed. A real legend does not mock other artists who are selling huge amounts of CD's and also does not put videos online on youtube like a 16 year old in her daddy's basement. She is like a jealous ex-girfriend. And the industry is so much more looks oriented and into the sexy image that she failed at miserably. Real legends don't spend time mocking others, they are collaborating with Will I am of the Peas and Fergie, not mocking them.

Man, I sometimes forget how insane the world of the delusional really is.. then someone from there posts a rant like this and I remember why I'm happy to be (somewhat) sane. Yeah, Alanis' last CD was not a hit compared to her others and I think a lot of her fans agree that she is capable of better (as evident by her previous records). However, fans of Alanis also know that she has a really great sense of humor. She likes poking fun and making jokes, just like this. I really don't think she's trying to make some profound statement. She posted it on April Fools day.. as a joke. I would bet my entire CD collection that she did not anticipate the reaction this little video has gotten. Still, I'm glad for her. Even when people like yourself bash her, you're giving her negative publicity and we all know the saying about publicity. :)

That video is hilarious, and I almost like the song the way Alanis sings it. I've liked her more recent albums, and I look forward to her next one. She made a great move by releasing that video, whether intentional or not... I can't believe how fast it has spread and how she is back in the spotlight. Good on her.

She went out not being successful with her attempt at a sexy makeover. I would be sad for an artist I liked needing to do this to get attention after 10 years. Then again she seems pretty desperate lately, begging for privacy on her broken engagement when I am sure she is not on the list of celebrities paparazzi even remember or care about.

Sorry, I first of all found it boring and whiney, and then I found it stupid. You don't mock a song that was not meant to be serious anyway. It's actually embarrasing thinking a grammy winning artist has to do this to get attention. Real legends don't do this.

I don't see where anyone is dellusional. I honestly feel bad for an artist who has to do this to get attention, just like her plea for "privacy" when she was not even on a blip on the press radar screen with her personal life. She really looks foolish IMO. Sorry.

OK, you guys took My Humps as a joke and now Alanis is dellusional. Great. I still expect big things from her. I love Jagged Little Pill and Supposed Former. The other CDs suck. But, hey, this My Humps cover is so good she got me excited again!

Blah, blah, blah...Alanis sold more with one CD than most artists do their entire career! She has nothing left to prove and can basically do whatever she wants to at this point. She WAS the reason for the female singer/songwritter boom of the mid-late 90's. She doesn't have to do anything to get attention. Everytime she releases a new record there is a flury of attention...problem is Maverick's promotion machine always drops the ball. She's been looking for alternate ways to promote her music and has been trailblazer in that respect. Her 1999 tour with Tori Amos was sponsered by MP3.com long before most people even knew what an MP3 was! And her Starbcucks deal to release JLPA was way before it's time...just ask Paul McCartney!

I can't wait for Alanis' new album. I wish this video were released on the eve of a new Alanis record...!! Alanis is the biggest female artist of the 90's. She hardly needs to do this to get attention. She debuts in the Top 10 with every album regardless of how her first single does, she has nothing to prove to anyone, she doesnt need to pull a stunt to get attention. It is Alanis Morissette, people wake up, 16 million on one record, countless hits, she is bigger than Britney, Christina, all of them, her influence will never be forgotten. She IS a legend in music.

Fergie sent Alanis flowers to congratulate her and thank her. I am not denying Alanis's work in the 90s , but she did also try to transform in to sexy in her leather outfits and didn't make it. So if she indeed is trying to put down the women using sexy to sell, she did try it herself and it didn't work.
I also have to say that Alanis seems to want attention. She was the joke on Best Week Ever a few weeks ago, asking for "privacy' about her break up with Ryan. The joke is, no one was covering it, no one is following her, she is living in privacy already!
But anyway, hope her new CD is a good one.
