What Hurts The Most (by the Rascal Flatts) is a cover? (Thought that was the original) The original version (or at the least the first one that was properly released) was by Jo from S Club 7. Mark Wills - 2003

4. Endless Love (Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey) The original was so smooth, sweet... Diana and Lionel let their voices flow without oversinging it. But in this cover, both Luther and Mariah could not sing a paragraph without oversinging it or breaking their voices and saying these.... I don't know hot to explain... but if you compare this phrase: "And I, I want to share all my love for you" Diana and Lionel almost said it clearly BUT Mariah and Luther said something like: ANd I-I-I-IaaaaIII I want toooUiUIu shaIieEiree all my love (lo-lo-lo-loooeoeoeeeve!) for youiuioouuuu (yu-yu-yu-yuuuuuuu). Of course, I'm jokingly exaggerating, but it was just an illustration of my point. They both had good voices to do a great cover, but why-oh-why did they have to do that?! I think you're referring to the melisma. Luther was fine, but Mariah oversang that song. She took the emotion and beauty out of the song and replaced it with noisy melisma. I'd also add most of Celine Dion's covers, she's not really good at interpreting someone else's song, she just takes the life out of the song and makes so blah. Also "Sweet Thing" by Mary J Blige was awful. She butchered it.

Oh! Another terrible cover was 'One' by Mary J. and U2. I cannot think of why this song was redone. It was terrible. Mary completely oversang it and whatever soul she tried to put into it came out the other side and died a terrible death.
While I'm at U2, I'll say that the Bono/Alicia Keys cover of 'Don't Give Up' wasn't that great either.

Other No-No's to me: - True Colors by Phil Collins (turned an emotional song into an insipid tune) - You're the One that I Want by Debbie Gibson and Craig Mclachlan (I was so excited when I heard the news of this remake back in 1993, because I always thought that Debbie could do an Olivia song quite well.... WRONG!! Even though she has a great voice, in this cover she refrained, seemed like she did not have the energy, the guts to make the song her own. At least Craig did a better job covering Travolta)

I think Beyonce's version of "Kissing You" really pales in comparison to Des'ree's original version. And the fact that she recorded it without Des'ree's permission just adds to the injury.

Another one: Cake's version of "War Pigs". Sure, the original is one of Black Sabbath's weaker songs, but there are some songs you simply don't touch. And butcher as much as this one.

John Stevens doing Maroon 5's "This Love." The Veronicas doing "We're Not Gonna Take It." They go together with rock music the same way Britney Spears goes with sanity. Also, anything Sanjaya did on American Idol could be considered the worst covers ever.

- Christina Aguilera's version of Besame Mucho. That was a destruction of one of the most romantic Latin ballads ever. She just screamed like an insane!! Agreed. Most of her Xmas album was a hot mess too

Oh and I recently downloaded Punk Goes Crunk and some of them are pretty bad, lol. The cover of "Still Fly" was horrendous, as was "Put Yo Hood Up" (I guess the original sucked too). Although I thought the covers of "I Wanna Love You" and "Got Your Money" were really good. I think the former is better than the original. You can listen to it on their Myspace: www.myspace.com/punkgoescrunk
