There is no radio edit. That is the countdown show editing the song so that they can fit their program into the allotted time.

All she needs to do is gain a couple hundred spins and she'll be close top 10 by the end of the week!

I don't know which countdown show you're referring to, but the full-length version debuted on Bob Kingsley's show this past weekend.
There's really no reason for any countdown show to edit this song under any circumstances, altough some Bible-Belt area PDs may not be too thrilled about the song's subject matter, and might modify it one way or another.
Top 40 & Hot AC countdown shows are anorther matter entirely.

Top 40 & Hot AC countdown shows are anorther matter entirely. The song got a verse snipped out on yesterday's CT40; it jumped suddenly from "his last name" to "my last name". (I've only heard the song twice so I don't know exactly what got cut -- but something did.) I think a couple other songs got hacked up too, it seemed like he was going through the first hour at warp speed. Bob sometimes snips up the songs -- I know for the longest time he was only playing the first verse of "Takin' Off This Pain" and skipping the bridge to "What Kinda Gone". He did this a lot in the ACC day stoo. ==== As for "Last Name", I like this song. Her vocals aren't quite as gritty as they were on "Before He Cheats", but she pulls it off very well. I also like the clever twist in lyrics at the end -- where she ends up not knowing her own last name.

The twist is one of the best things in that song, IMO... I love it!!

I have been listening to this and trying to get into it but it's not happening. I would have liked to see something else released instead.

i love this song! it is sooo much better than All-American Girl i mean, the song is alright by itself, but the video?! omg was that ridiculous!! there are a lot better singles on that cd than that one.... my personal favorites for the next-to-be released are: 1.get out of this town (PERFECT summer song) 2. Just a dream (great for fall, a more serious topic can be brought up) 3. I told you so- BEAUTIFUL cover...amazing... the most wonderfrul song on the album 4.and either Flat on the floor/the more boys i meet (idk i like both about the same( i HATE wheel of the world, you won't find this, and i know you won't...but mostly the last two...ughhh....

I've never heard an edited verson of 'Takin' Off This Pain' on CT40.
Until the CD came out, I'd make it a point to listen to that part of the show where 'TOTP' was a couple of times because I really like the song, and none of the stations that I listen to which carry 'CT40' have ever edited the song, as it's barely over 3:00, which is undoubtedly a godsend for lots of PDs out there.
I'll check out his airing of 'Last Name' on Saturday evening.

They haven't done it since February (which, incidentally, is when I e-mailed them asking why they were always playing a condensed version of the song).

I've given up on hoping someone other Roman White would direct her videos. As much as I love Reba, I didn't even vote for him with Because Of You in the CMT awards because I don't want his reign as the go-to director in country music to last any longer than it has to. i didnt vote for him either. Carrie's videos have done well so far, IN SPITE of him, rather than because of him. Amen! Couldn't agree more!

i wonder how high Carrie will go on the charts next week? she has already passed Dierks and Jake and is very close to passing Jewel. Alan will go recurrent. she will pass herself (AAG) and maybe Bucky if he is gonna fall like that all week. so maybe #11??? i say 12, i dont think Bucky is going down yet

For Alan to go recurrent, someone outside of the top 10 has to pass him in audience or spins. He can probably lose over 5 million in audience and still end up at #10. On the other hand, Bucky has lost 900k on Mediabase over the last two days. I'd say there's a 95% chance he goes recurrent next week.

I really agree! Get Out Of This Town sounds like a great summer record. It's summer already here and I keep this song on full blast, and it's just awesome. Love it!!!

I'm still inclined to believe that two of the next three singles from this CD will be ballads.

And I'm inclined to believe that there will only be 5 single which means only 2 more songs will be singles.

^i bet that will be right. but i wouldnt count out 6 singles. it will most likely how well this is selling. if there are only 2 more singles they will undoubtedly be "Just A Dream" and "Flat On The Floor" in that order. if there is a 6th single there will be room for "Get Out Of This Town", "Crazy Dreams" or "You Won't Find This" as the 6th single. i don't think any of the others have any chance maybe "I Know You Won't" but i highly doubt it.
i predict only 5 singles, (unless this album has through the roof sales)

yeah i think the record label will try and release as many as possible, because with carrie, almost anything is possible...they will stretch her as far as they can and do their best to keep records selling...i think 6 too...

The song got a verse snipped out on yesterday's CT40; it jumped suddenly from "his last name" to "my last name". For the record, the full version got played on today's CT40 (the verse about the ring got snipped out last week for some odd reason).

for all of you that think there will be a 6th single, what do you think it will be? the 6th single would probably come out around January/February of next year if things go like AAG and LN have been. i would pick them like this
#4 "Just A Dream", released in the beginning to middle of July, peak in the end of September #5 "Flat On The Floor", released early to middle of November, peak in the beginning of March #6 "You Won't Find This", released end of March or early April, peak in the end of June
next album #1 "...", released in August, new album out in November
that seems reasonable to me. i would really like those 3 to be the next 3 singles if there are 6. but i am not so sure that "You Won't Find This" will be a single. "Get Out Of This Town", "Crazy Dreams", "Twisted" would also be decent choices for singles. i dont think "I Told You So", "Wheel Of The World", or "The More Boys I Meet" have any chance of being a single. but "I Know You Won't" does even if it isn't my favorite, although it has grown on me the most out of any song on this album.
sorry for rambling on about the next 2 years and what i think will happen. i will probably be so very far off on predicting when the new singles will be released. but i hope i am right about the selection of singles

i dont think "I Told You So", "Wheel Of The World", or "The More Boys I Meet" have any chance of being a single. Since "I Told You So" and "The More Boys I Meet" were included in the survey I talked about a few pages ago, I think they're definite possibilities for singles.

I WANT THE VIDEO NOW!!! it is gonna be #1 before they even shoot it!!! it should be #12 this week, jumping 5 spots. it will pass Lady A next week along with Alan going recurrent. Chris and Jason should be falling soon too. so she could be #8 in two weeks. we need a video now so she can get some extra boosts. she really needs to get a video out before kenny chesney does because he has been slowly getting closer to her each week. an awesome video for this could prevent him from getting in front of her
