This song sure is taking a long time to have an official adds date. why don't they just release it. I'm dying to hear a new Carrie song on the radio! I hope the video is released along with the adds date so JAD can have a big start! :)

Probably so the song can peak in the fall. They want Last Name to go recurrent first -> my guess

I think they are trying to slow things down a bit so they don't have to release half the songs as singles...so the album won't ware out.

I don't see why they'd have to release half of the songs as singles just because things were going quickly.

I thought most people wanted 6-7 singles released from this album and that would be half of the songs from it. If they release that many songs then they should come out pretty fast. At least it is not like Jason Michael Carroll. His album has been out for like five years now and he is just on song #3.

his album has been out for a year and a half, almost. but you i think they might just be trying to slow things down. but i still think 6 singles will be released. this is the 4th single and they havent even started making the new album yet (at least we dont know anything yet). so it should take about 5 months to record the album? (i dont really know how long it takes) but Carrie can release 2 more singles within 5 months. so i am thinking it might go like this... Just A Dream: released early July, peaked late October Flat On The Floor: released early November, peaked early February Get Out Of This Town: released late February, peaked late June new single: released early August new album: released about September 21, 2009 now thats just a guess but it should end up being something like that. i dont think they will go 7 singles, but 6 is probable. but i also wouldnt be surprised if they stopped after 5.

I will not be convinced that this will be the next single until I see the video on CMT or hear it on Sirius. I just don't believe in all this record company crap. Anyway, I'd like to have as many singles released from this album as possible so that we can hear as many of Carrie's songs on the radio as possible. Have a nice day.

On 18 June 2008, Carrie had a concert at the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA. In this clip from that concert, Carrie confirms that she filmed a video for her next single on 16 June and teases the audience by saying that she can't say what that next single is. The relevant comments come at about the 1:02 mark in the clip. www.youtube.com/watch?v=faPJadfSAkQIn the absence of a credible source like the Columbia Daily Herald article posted upthread (plus Carrie's confirmation of the event it references, although not the name of the single), I would have moved this thread to the Non-Singles/Album Tracks forum. And I'm certain that sbp17 wouldn't have started this thread in the first place if he didn't think the news of this single came from a credible source that everyone could verify by reading on his/her own. The article posted upthread cited an Arista Nashville publicist in naming the single for which the video was filmed. If that turns out to have been in error, I'll obviously move this thread to the appropriate forum. But for now, I think it's fine that the thread is here. That said, there isn't much cause for discussion in this thread. This thread isn't here to field a debate about whether this song is actually going to be the single -- if the thread is in this forum, it's because there is a credible indication that it will be. Since the single doesn't appear to be particularly active at the moment, there's not much chart progress to discuss. I imagine more posters will contribute their thoughts on the single once it is officially announced in the trades and/or on industry sites. I did consider locking this thread until the single is officially announced, but the reality is that someone other than me is going to have first word of its official announcement, and I would rather leave this thread open for that person to post the news. By the way, I'm considering the issue of whether daily Mediabase updates will be allowed in individual single threads (I'm leaning strongly against it). Check out this thread if you would like to weigh in with your thoughts.

Wonder why such a huge secret on this one? Maybe they're going to try to release the single announcement, single, and video all on the same day and watch 'em fly? Hey, much stranger things have happened!

It was CMT's Idea or something. Carrie was just like "Why play the video 64 times in a row?"

I know that the consensus has established that Just A Dream is the next single, but just in case anyone is looking for more ammo...Blair Garner also said that Just A Dream is the next single, too, on After MidNite this week. He actually said the new single is "Just Like A Dream," but we know that's an error in the title :).

If they were going to kill "LN," they could at least get the next single out there so Carrie isn't completely absent.

Why some people keep on thinking that only because a Carrie's single peaked, it was "killed"? It's not like it would get to number one and stay there forever! I am a Carriefan and sometimes I get mad when other people say we're spoiled, but now I'm starting to see they might be right.

jenglisbe, you've argued the "'Last Name' was killed" point to death in the LN thread, and it's unconstructive to treat that point of yours as a factual premise now. Moreover, I don't see the argument about LN's fate getting any less circular in this thread. Just move on. Thanks.

Does anyone else think the timeline in this song is implausible?

Does anyone else think the timeline in this song is implausible? No, but I have always wondered why she's wearing a white dress to a funeral... I have some predictions to make here: 1) This song will move quicker to #1 than any other this year (so > 11 weeks). 2) This song will stay at #1 for 4+ weeks, but won't stay there as long as "Our Song."

She's not going to a funeral--it's her wedding ("all dressed in white", "something borrowed, something blue").

"Trumpets from the military band," "pulled her veil down to hide the tears," "guard rang one last shot," "he's not coming home now.." She was dating a soldier who went to war and died. And the song is about the funeral. So why is she wearing white?!?! lol
