Hey Matt, what's the verdict on "Moments". Is it elegible or not? (It peaked mid-June '07, but remained on the chart until late July)

Is Reba Duets eligible for Album? Now there's a great album that should definately be a strong contender, unfortunately, probably will not happen.

Hey Matt, what's the verdict on "Moments". Is it elegible or not? (It peaked mid-June '07, but remained on the chart until late July) It hit #1 on June 16, 2007. The cutoff date for the CMAs was June 30, 2007. Hence, I would think that the song is not eligible if the rule has to do with song peaks. If, however, the rule has to do with the song being on the chart during the eligibility period, then the song is eligible. For now I would say the song is not eligible, but I will also ask around and get back to you!

I dont know if you guys will want to change your predictions for Album of the Year, but "Crazy Ex Girlfriend" isn't eligible :) Actually, if an album has a better commercially successful year than the year previous, even if it wasn't released in the eligibility period, it is eligible for nomination. So I would say it probably is.

So I would say it probably is. Isn't that just an ACM rule? I was under the impression that the CMA doesn't nominate albums released outside of the eligibility period regardless of the year in which the album made the most commercial impact.

I think Lady Antebellum might pull an upset on horizon since Rodney Atkins has lost some momentum lately. Last year it was all about rodney--- but he hasn't been doing much lately-- he must be in between albums.... and he is losing buzz. He might still win though, based on last year's accomplishments.

I think Kellie Pickler will pull the upset if its not Rodney. I know the industry is buzzing about Lady A, but they like Kellie pretty well too.

why would Rodney be nominated and Taylor Swift not be? i don't think either should be nominated because they have already established themselves with a few #1's in the last 2 years. give it to a new up-and-coming or a newer artist that hasn't made it big yet like Kellie Pickler, Lady Antebellum, Ashton Shepherd, Chuck Wicks, Julianne Hough, Luke Bryan, Jake Owen. but i would like it to be only one of the first 2 i mentioned

Judging by an ad I saw today, looks like BMR is pushing "Our Song" for Taylor for Single/Song/Video of the Year.

well someone can win the Horizon Award more than once (unfortunately), just ask Dierks Bentley (who i am pretty sure he has 2 Horizon Awards).

Actually he doesn't. He won the Horizon from the CMA's and New Male from ACM's. It isn't possible to win the Horizon award twice.

oh really? hmm... maybe thats what i was thinking of. but still, Rodney should not be nominated because he has had his chance to win/be nominated and now that time is up. He had 4 #1's, he should have been nominated 2 years ago. but this year its true newcomers who should be nominated for the award

I'm pretty certain Rodney won't win just because he is more established. You can only win the Horizon (well, New Artist) Award once because you're not really the 'new' artist if you have already won that award previously. That's why I say Kellie and Lady A have the best chances of winning.

thats what i think too. it should go to a new artist. So I agree, Kellie or Lady A will most likely win. but we don't even have the official nominees yet, so we really don't know much yet. but i doubt Rodney will be nominated. was he nominated last year or the year before that? it just wouldn't seem right if he was nominated this year.

It's not the "new artist" award. It's like the New Artist award at the Grammy's. That's why Shelby Lynne won it after her stellar album I Am Shelby Lynn. Look at how long she had been in the business before she won that award. It is for the "newer" artist that has had the most success, hence why some artists are up for it more than once.

Carrie has Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year in the bag!
Don't know if "Last Name" is going to win her Single of the Year and Song of the Year...

^Not so sure on that one. She may win FV, but don't know about album and definately not Single or Song..."Stay" should be a shoe-in in probably both categories, most likely.
