When was the last time a female was nominated for EOTY? And has a female ever won? The last time a (solo) female won was 1999 and it was, tada, Shania Twain. The last time a (solo) female was nominated was a year later, in 2000, and the nomination went to Faith Hill, who lost to a "flock" of ladies, the Dixie Chicks. Man, that is pretty awesome. Had no idea that Dixie Chicks and Faith were both nominated for EOTY at the same time. Times sure have changed. The males have almost totally taken over.

Both Toby and Alan were nominated for Entertainer in 2005, and that's the last time either received that nomination.

^ Is there a reason that toby Keith has been dissed at award shows lately? I am not a huge huge fan or anything- but I kind of like him-- and I don't get why he has been kind of shunned lately by the cMAS and ACMs. Did I miss something? lol
Gosh I am getting nervous. The noms will be announced Wednesday!!!

Toby hasn't been shy about how he doesn't like that he gets shut out when he is nominated and how he feels about the industry awards vs fan voted. He said something along the lines of prefering the fan voted awards to industry because he knows the fans get him and he'll more then likely win there.
I'm getting anxious about the nominations. It'll be interesting to see what comes of them.

Toby hasn't been nominated for much lately because he hasn't done much lately. all his songs have been either horrible or OK, for a few years now. hopefully with his new album things will turn around for him.

Judging by the first single I definately think this new album will do very well for him. Toby definately should be nominated next year for something. Unforunately, this year is out for him. Both in the male and especially the Entertainer category. It's a real shame too cause I love Toby's music (most of the time).

If some of the long-time regulars read this, I hope you participate. I think it will be interesting to read your predictions. I posted my initial prediction before the thread got derailed countless times or I probably would have not posted either. But try to think about how enjoyable this thread would have been back in the ole days without all the intrusions.

Wow, way to go Sugarland! I'm going to see them Saturday so that really gets me pumped for the show.
Big surprise to see Martina nominated for FVOTY. I would have thought Reba or even Trisha would have taken her place.

Nominees thus far, from the AP:
NEW YORK - Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney and Alan Jackson were each nominated for two or more Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday, including album of the year.
Underwood's "Carnival Ride," Chesney's "Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates," and Jackson's "Good Time" were nominated for album of the year along with George Strait's "Troubadour" and Brooks & Dunn's "Cowboy Town."
Other CMA nominees included Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts, who were on hand to reveal the some of nominees during a live announcement on Wednesday's ABC's "Good Morning America." The 18-year-old Swift, who last year won CMA's Horizon award for upcoming acts, giggled excitedly when her name was read as a nominee for female vocalist of the year, a category that included Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride and Underwood.
"I can't believe it!" Swift said. "I'm having a really good morning."
Nominees for male vocalist of the year included Chesney, Jackson, Strait, Keith Urban, and Brad Paisley.
Rascal Flatts was nominated for vocal group of the year. Other nominees in that category included the Eagles, Emerson Drive, Lady Antebellum, and Little Big Town.
Chesney was also nominated for entertainer for the year. The category also included Strait, Paisley, Sugarland and Keith Urban.

Congrats to Sugarland on all their well-deserved nominations. Entertainer is fantastic!! Thanks for posting the list! I can't believe Miranda got a nomination for single--that's awesome! I'm glad to see Another Try got a nomination too. I loved that song.

Here are the results for the CMA Predictions Game; however, due to the interest, these scores will be half of the final total. The last part of the game lies in predicting the winners themselves.
The scores I have tallied below are determined as follows: +1 for each nominee predicted correctly (each category has a possibility of 5 pts) +5 for each category that is completely correctly predicted (basically an extra +5 pts for that category)
So, here are the results after the first round!
1) Brandonmedlock - 50 pts 2) Zaclord - 49 pts 3) Msm444 - 47 pts 4) Sbp17 - 43 pts 5) TIE: Someguy, Ricky - 42 pts 6) Eskmann - Stephen - 41 pts 7) TIE: Phobia, cntryrules - 40 pts 8) TIE: Carriefan0209, Greger - 39 pts 9) Tsharky - 38 pts 10) 3 WAY TIE: Rockingcountry, Zach, avsfan - 37 pts 11) Wilddustin - 36 pts 12) Okramvd - 35 pts 13) Jptexas - 34 pts 14) Shaniagotchagood - 31 pts 15) Kw9461 - 28 pts
