Well, it comes with the territory of having your awards show on a major network. I don't really take it against the CMA. The country "stars" perform, I don't mind. If the surprise performer was Jessica Simpson being added to the line-up, no thanks. I'd rather not have any surprises. I wonder if they're gonna put her in the "featured newbie" slot. I'd prefer Darius Rucker. Or Lady Antebellum.
Next few announcements will include: Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, maybe Kellie Pickler. Hmm, will Martina still have her slot?

Does anyone have a guess as to who will be the Host or Hosts?

There will probably be infinite many hosts again this year, which was not so great last year. You know how much ABC loves to hoard their people in there so expect that yet again.

^ The CMA Fest on ABC was a disaster of epic proportion. The ratings were horrible--- because it was basically 3 giggling blondes and it got real old, real fast. The whole show was a promote Taylor and Julianne Hough night (since ABC does dancing with the stars, they were likely trying to promote her for that reason). They virtually ignored many major stars and only gave big name artists one slot or none... yet gave Taylor 2 performances. Made no sense to me. Why would they not show Keith Urban twice? or other bigger names?
So I am kind of dreading what ABC will do to the CMAS. I really don't think Jessica will perform though as she is not a nominee, and you have to earn the performance slot with a nomination, except for special guests and major names like the eagles, etc.

Interesting. I think they should let Blake Shelton host. Now that would be funny!

I think Carrie and Brad will do a GREAT job as they are so funny and cute together. :)
I think Blake would do a good job too- so maybe he will host the CMT's, etc.
But Carrie and Brad together are adorable.

Awesome! I've always felt Brad and Carrie would make great hosts. Their deadpan and dry humor should work well. I will look forward to the awards if for no other reason than this.

Kenny will be doing a medley with the Wailers, according to USA Today. I believe the songs mentioned were "Everybody.. Heaven" and "Little Bird" (?)

Eagles, others added to CMA lineup
All roads lead to Nashville as additional artists join the celebration known as "The 42nd Annual CMA Awards." Trace Adkins, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, and The Wailers join the list of performers on "Country Music's Biggest Night."
"These artists and their songs had a huge impact on Country Music this year," said Tammy Genovese, CMA Chief Executive Officer. "We are excited to spotlight them on the CMA Awards."
Previously announced performers include co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, along with Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban.
Legendary group the Eagles will also perform.
"We were honored last year when the Eagles chose the CMA Awards to give their first televised Awards performance," said Genovese. "We are excited to welcome them back again this year as both performers and nominees."
The Eagles are nominated for CMA Vocal Group of the Year. This is their third nomination in that category, following nominations in 1976 and 1977.
"The 42nd Annual CMA Awards" airs live from the Sommet Center in Nashville, Wednesday, Nov. 12 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network

Man, this awards show sounds like it is going to be even more lame than normal. Horrible hosts, same ol' nominees, same ol' performers. I hope I can find something more interesting on TV that night. This is sad to me because I used to love and look forward to these things so much.

If Carrie performs Just A Dream at the CMAs, that would probably be the best performance of the night.

I sooo hope Kellie Pickler can win. She deserves it! This isn't a cheerleading thread. If you're going to post an opinion like this, either back it up with reasons and evidence, or don't post at all. If Carrie performs Just A Dream at the CMAs, that would probably be the best performance of the night. Pre-declaring something like this makes no sense, and is a quick way to demonstrate that yours is not an opinion to be taken seriously. It is one thing to look forward to one performance more than others, but another entirely to call something the best of the night before the night has happened. As I said above, this isn't a cheerleading thread, nor is Pulse a fan board where it's OK to make declarative statements about who deserves what or who is the best, especially without anything to back up the comment. It is a general music discussion board where people exchange views on music and the music charts. That means not posting unless you have something genuinely new to contribute to the discussion, and supporting your opinion with reasons and facts americanidolfan18, I see you are new here. Please check your PMs. Thanks.

I saw a CMA's Commercial on ABC yesterday. They showed the usual performers, but they had a nice promo with Carrie and Brad at the end.
They also said there will be a surprise guest that will get tongues wagging. lol I wonder if it is Shania or Garth? Maybe Dolly?

Ok, I soooo hope Kellie win's she deserves it! She has 4 top 20 country hits, 2 top 15! She has a gold selling album almost selling 800k! She also seems respected by her peers and recieved a huge standing ovation last year. Kellie is also a good vocalist, and is starting to write more and I hope she get;s rewarded for her hard work!

She's going up against an artist that had 4 straight #1's, another 2 that have 1 #1 song (one of which has an additional 4 T10's), and a 4th that took their debut song into the T5 on the heels of a critically acclaimed album. I personally feel she's the least deserving of the 5 (well, she may be above James Otto, but that's it). Her debut album was quite successful (and is what got her nominated), but I don't think that makes up for lack of success on the charts.

I wonder if it will be Kid Rock. Already announced, so it can't be him... maybe we'll get lucky and a future commercial will slip a gender. That would help.

Kellie Pickler should win, sure she hasn't hit the top ten, but I'll say it once again, it was her who got the standing ovasion at last year's show, remember???

I don't think a standing ovation is reason for winning an award.
