Hate to say it, but I have a sinking feeling that this is going to do even worse than 'Come On Over'. At first I thought it would do well, but the curiosity surrounding Jessica's jump to country has pretty much disappeared already and that's just about all she had going for her. I really hope I'm wrong, though. I'd like to see her be successful.

right now it appears to have about half of the airplay neccessary to chart, so I would say it's still probably 2 weeks away from charting. If this song is going to be successful, it's going to be on the merit of the song alone, because I agree with those that have said that the buzz surrounding Jess is gone. That being said, this is definetly her best shot at a successful single.

^ In her defense, she usually is a good live artist. She just can't seem to pull off a decent performance on TV. I don't know if it's nerves or what, but for the last 3 or 4 years, her televised performances have been awful (with the exception of 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing' at the '07 Walt Disney World Christmas parade). The last time I remember her putting on a truly great performance was 'What Child Is This' on Christmas In Rockefeller Center in 2004. Her voice was chill-inducing - in a positive way - there. She really knocked it out of the park. I just wish she would take some lessons and learn how to sing properly, because she's been straining the hell out of her voice lately. 'You're My Sunday' on Do You Know is a prime example. Listening to that song, you can tell she was pushing her voice too far, especially during the chorus. That "...flying off the rails like a fast TRAAAAAAAIN!" line makes me cringe every time.

She will get a lot of practice with the live touring/singing thing come January. She is opening for Rascal Flatts on at least the first leg of their 2009 tour.

Still, it should be a great show! well, in the country musc wrld, rf is the bigger star and one of the highest tour earnrs, and while they havnt been critcally acclaimd all the time, their star power cant be denied, so i wudnt consider rf as just "someone else." i mean, evn jewel is opening for brad, and jewel has undeniably a more sgnificant body of work in music than jess. plus country musc is one of those genres who emphasze and enforce "paying dues" a lot of times, sometimes even unreasonably. so tht doesnt surprise me. jess has to start from the bottom. and ths is prob one of the thngs she cn do to sustain her albm sales, bec so far, her singles are nt doing it for her. i nver really considerd jess a "big star." mayb popular star, yeah, but nver really as a musician. more as a reality tv shw celeb and bec of her personal life. i knw she has some pop hits, but i cnt remembr any at the top of my head, bt i can always easily associate her as the star of newlyweds even thouhg i didnt watch tht show. evn as a pop star and in their heydays, both britney and crhistina a. were way bigger music and touring stars than jessica ever was.

^ I'm not saying it's wrong that she's opening for Rascal Flatts (I actually think it's a great idea); it's just weird to think of such a big star opening for another act.

Jessica is a big celebrity, but I don't consider her a star at all (certainly not in the country genre anyway). She may have had a somewhat successful pop career, but she's made it clear that that isn't her anymore. If she going to establish herself as a country artist then she's going to have to do what everyone else has to do to establish a country fan base, open for a bigger act and work from there. Curiosity and name recognition doesn't sell concert tickets like it does records.

She's very much in the public eye, but not for her music unfortunately.

She's very much in the public eye, but not for her music unfortunately. Yeah...she's never really been in the public eye for her music. When she first came out, it was all about Britney, Christina, 'NSYNC and so on. Nobody paid attention to her until "Newlyweds," and that show pretty much ruined any chance she once had at a respectable career. Critics used to compare her to Celine Dion and early Mariah Carey; now there are people who actually think artists like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna have more singing talent. It's sad.

Though I'm a big fan, I don't mind her starting from below again like a brand new artist, and opening acts for bigger country stars like Rascal Flatts. I'm actually pretty excited. This is like a new journey for her and she will gain new fans along the way!

Ouch for her performances on Dancing with the Stars. The last one seemed to get better near the end, but man is she pitchy. I want to like her, but her facial expressions are so hard to watch.

I thought she sounded good on Dancing With The Stars. The only part I don't like is the screaming near the ending of Angels. Reminds me of a rocker chick. But the rest of it is great and she did a good job of Come On Over too! :)

I kinda feel like what you are saying is biased or you don't have any clue how to hear pitch. I am not a big fan, but I thought she was flawless on DWTS. Both songs sounded great! Kim, maybe you need to hit youtube and watch again.

Jessica was on 'DWTS'? How did I not know about it? *hunts down on YouTube*
EDIT: She performed 'Angels'? Weird. Why wouldn't she do one of the slower tracks from DYK instead?

Has anyone noticed the awful, forced "twang" she seems to have acquired over the past two months? It makes her "singing" all the more unlistenable!

Her performance on DWTS was better than what I heard on Good Morning America. She was really pitchy on the chorus there. "Angels" was actually pretty good except for the high screaming-like extended note. But, overall, not bad.

I have a feeling that DWTS is similar to most national shows, they tell you what to sing. I know that when you play Leno or Letterman, the talent producer picks the song. Most of the time it is the current single, but sometimes not. Especially with DWTS, since the dancers dance during the performance, they probably had Angels picked out weeks ago.

I hope this song does well, but, IMO, it's not looking promising right now. That's a shame - it really IS a great song, with a great message.
Any word on a video for it?
