Still Don't Stop Me is easily the best song on the album.

I read Victoria and Rachel's myspaces stories last night and oh my gosh, what powerful stuff! Very brave of them to reveal such detailed accounts of their abuse. I am really sad that this wonderful song never got to see the light of day, especially now knowing the full stories behind the song. I wish Rachel could have released it :(

This falls off the chart this week, peaking at #42. I doubt if they'll even bother with another single (especially if she really is leaving the label).

BUT, I can't escape the fact that she still seems to appear on magazines and TV. I wish she would GO AWAY. There is NO USE FOR HER in Country or pop. Oh and about that movie "career..."

No one's holding a gun to your head and forcing you to pay attention to her. There is NO USE FOR HER in Country or pop. In YOUR opinion. Myself and many others disagree. Like I said, if she bothers you so much, just ignore her. There are several popular artists on this board that I can't stand, but you don't see me going into their threads to complain about them.

You are correct and I do not listen to her. BUT, I can't escape the fact that she still seems to appear on magazines and TV. I wish she would GO AWAY. There is NO USE FOR HER in Country or pop. Oh and about that movie "career..." I'm certainly not going to tell you that you have to like Jessica Simpson. But realize that by posting twice in this thread, you bumped up the thread of a single that was, until last week, treading water and that now appears to be done. And this is a thread for an artist you indicated that you're tired of hearing about. I understand wanting to vent, but all you are doing now is contributing to a pointless back-&-forth between a non-fan and a super-fan. It's not a substantive discussion and doesn't belong here. Britney = life, I understand that it's frustrating to be a fan and read dismissals of one of your favorite artists, but it's not your place to tell other posters what they should or shouldn't do. To both of you: knock it off and don't post in this thread unless you have something substantive -and- new to say about Jessica Simpson and/or this single. [/end moderator comments] someguy, this is probably a dumb question...but do we know if "Remember That" really dropped out of the top-60 from #42 or if it went recurrent? Under the Radar's Mediabase update for the week does suggest it's the former (and what you originally said), as the song suddenly lost over 40% of its spins on the All Stations panel in one week and probably a higher percentage of its audience impressions. Plus, recurrency rules require three consecutive weeks of AI losses...unless Billboard/ R&R made some AI calculation adjustments based on panel changes, this song had a small gain (~100K) on last week's chart after two consecutive weeks of losses. Anyway, I was just wondering as a matter of chart curiosity. ETA: OK, maybe not such a dumb question if Ten Pound Hammer is asking it, too.I'm beginning to wonder if the blogs from Victoria Banks and Rachel Proctor were valedictories...maybe they got word that their song was done on the charts and decided to close the chapter by telling their stories. Thanks, by the way, to avalyn for having posted the links to their stories...I felt kicked in the gut reading the ugliness and despair they experienced. I had always wondered what had happened with Rachel and her career...it's really eye-opening to see how quickly it can all go, and why. Good on both of them for having survived. And looking on the bright side, maybe if Rachel gets another record deal, she'll be able to release her version of this song.

It's not a dumb question at all, but I'm 99.9% sure that she actually dropped out of the top 60 from #42, because she had a bullet last week (gaining over 100K in AI too, if I remember rightly). I had to do a double take and look for her twice, because I was very surprised to see a song move from #47 to #42 with a bullet, and then be off of the charts the next week. I'm fairly certain that is what happened, though I can't say so with absolute certainty.

I finally read Rachel and Victoria's stories behind 'Remember That', and wow. What they went through is extremely depressing, but I'm glad they managed to move past it and become better, stronger women because of it. Major kudos to both of them.
Also, it's cool to see that Rachel is enjoying Britney's Circus. It's always nice to come across another country fan who likes her.

If her country career is in fact over after such a short time, I wonder how she'll proceed with her music career. She'll never hear the end of it if she returns to pop after saying that she's staying in country because that's where she belongs. I actually feel bad for her. I love her music and hate to see this happen. Let this be a lesson to all the pop singers that country music is not an easy place to crossover. Even the extremely talented country artists can't make it on country radio. Thank God there's always room for gross songs about ticks in private areas and complete drunkenness and immature teenage breakups though!

Well, until Columbia officially drops her, I'm choosing to believe that it's all just a nasty rumor. Perez Hilton does seem to have a personal vendetta against Jess, so he could be spreading lies in an attempt to harm her image. It wouldn't be the first time that he's made up stories about her.

I'm curious to see what she will be doing musically in a year or two. She's said she'll keep doing country even if she has to pay for it herself. Going indy is becoming more popular so she could keep singing country music if that's what she really wants to do.
Jessica might have been more successful in country if she had toned down the Hollywood lifestyle and devoted more time to the music and less to selling perfume and whatnot. Its like she just phoned it in IMO.

^ I don't blame her for continuing with the perfume, clothing line, etc. Aside from music and movie royalties, those things seem to be her chief source of income right now. I do think she should have stayed quiet in regards to her relationship with Tony, though. That really hurt her, especially since it ended up creating a "rivalry" between Jess and Carrie Underwood.

Yeah I feel like the "rivalry" is greatly exaggerated in the first place, but it didnt help her as she tried to start her country career. Carrie is extremely popular with Nashville so talking about the current queen didnt really help...

^ But I also think the comments that Jess made were blown entirely out of proportion. The only thing she really said was that Carrie still occasionally calls Tony, and she wasn't even rude about it (although, based on reactions from some of Carrie's fans, you'd think Jess threatened to murder Carrie in her sleep). Other than that, she was very complimentary and polite towards Carrie. Jess isn't the kind of person who insults her peers for publicity.

Carrie fans think she is God. That's the problem. Jessica was joking and everyone blew it out of proportion. Anyways...I hope Jessica does better with the tour and doesn't forget the lyrics.

Um Carrie is our goddess, not God ;)
Joking aside, Jessica should have just remained quiet about her relationship in the first place. Her outspokeness of it prompted the interviewer to ask Carrie how she felt about Tony, which prompted Jessica to talk about it on other radio interviews. Which made people view her as being defensive about it, even if she wasnt at all. It was just the circumstances surrounding it - people made a dispositional judgment when it should have been a situational one.

I just hate that people took Jessica's words and tried to twist them into a personal attack against Carrie. That obviously wasn't her intention at all.

Carrie fans think she is God. That's the problem. Ah, yes, the all-powerful Carrie Underwood fans. Now that we have single-handedly deep-sixed poor Jessica Simpson's country music aspirations, we will now be turning our attention to the pesky matter of capturing bin Laden. If you want to blame a fan group (any fan group) for your favorite artist's travails, you're probably a super-fan and you're asking for a warning for trolling (and I am more than happy to answer). The reality is that the country music world is comprised of much more than just Carrie Underwood fans, and Jessica Simpson doesn't appear to have made much of an impact across the board despite an inescapable full-court press. If you really want to have a discussion on the state of Jessica's country crossover attempt, I would find a wider lens. I understand that most of you seem to be discussing the impact of some tabloid story on Jessica's attempt to penetrate the country market. But several of you are showing a tenuous grasp of facts, and this isn't the place to be rehashing tabloid gossip. If you have exact quotes from artists, that's fair game, but I'm not seeing any of that here, and several of you are just reporting your impressions as fact. They are not and I'm unwilling to let this conversation go on if it's going to be slanted in that fashion. And frankly, most of the discussion in this thread has already been about why Jessica's attempt to cross over into country music hasn't gone that great. As has been pointed out, the conversation has gotten awfully circular, and now that "Remember That" appears to be done, I don't see the point of bumping up the thread for the umpteenth rehash of the subject. If there is a new development with the single on the charts in the new year, fine. If there is real news about the status of Jessica's record deal (since it would bear on whether there will be a third single from her current album), fine. But if not, there is a Jessica Simpson thread in the General Artist Discussion A-J forum, and you should take your thoughts on the state of her music career there. Thanks.

I just hate that people took Jessica's words and tried to twist them into a personal attack against Carrie. That obviously wasn't her intention at all. she called carrie classless. on a radio interview. thats a fact. i dunno how you could call anyone classless and not think of it as a personal attack. it was the other way around. carrie said in the allure interview that tony still calls her and she doesnt answer. that started it all. anyway, thanks to avalyn for the stories. the one for rachel is really gut-wrenching, since she was once a promising star with full of potential, and to just have it all gone like that, for someone who isnt even worthy of it. i guess the only thing i liked abt this song not really doing any good on the charts was that i didnt have to hear jessica milk the message of this song on her interviews.

Seriously, to the Carrie and Jessica super-fans who can't let go and just HAVE to have the last word: ENOUGH. I don't care if you just want to correct misinformation. The next person who posts anything that doesn't directly pertain to "Remember That's" current chart status gets warned (and don't even try being coy or cutesy about it -- the Pulse staff will not be impressed).

but "Remember That" doesn't have any current chart status but it is too bad this flopped. it was a million times better than "Come On Over". and this song was her only chance to have a hit off this album. i wouldn't be surprised if she didn't get any more singles off this album. not only because there are no more good songs, but because this one flopped so badly. poor Jess :(
