That's an odd statement to make before you've heard the song. Again... two completely different genres, and likely different tone, feel, vocalization, etc. It's not odd. Let's be done of the comparison already and Cook is the winner. Then some people are free to be happy and some are free to, you know, be bitter. I don't get what you're saying. You said Cook's will be better, yet you also say that people shouldn't be bitter and compare? I agree-people shouldn't compare.

Listening now...it's nothing great, but it's not terrible either. Could grow on me...I'm pretty "eh" on it right now.

Well I can't listen to it yet. What does it sound like? A ballad, midtempo or fast?

Oh come on, it's not that strange of a comparison. You know practically everybody is going to be comparing this to Crush the second it comes out, not just idol fans but critics, the media, etc. I agree-everybody will be comparing it. But just because everybody will be doing it doesn't mean it's not a silly comparison that will have no real musical validity. If they weren't on American Idol together there would be no reason why anybody would think of comparing Crush and Light On. I agree with that.

Well I can't listen to it yet. What does it sound like? A ballad, midtempo or fast? Definitely power ballad. It's very pop but it's rougher than I expected. It kind of sounds like a winner's single (ie This is My Now/etc.)...

Well I can't listen to it yet. What does it sound like? A ballad, midtempo or fast? It's a rock power ballad...kind of reminds me of a less catchy version of "Home". Definitely pretty Daughtry-esque, though. It's sort of an odd choice for a first single...sounds more like a 3rd or 4th single to me.

I mean, it's a decent song. It'll do well on the radio, but it's not the real rock that I think some people expected. It's much more along the lines of Daughtry--more Howes than Cornell. But that also means it's mainstream. It can go to AC, HAC and CHR/Pop. And I suppose rock stations will play it as well, about as much as they play Daughtry. I think this single is meant to bridge the gap between the rock power ballads Cook was doing on American Idol, and the "real rock" that Cook says he wants to do.

Ok, thanks for the description. Pretty interesting, I thought he's gonna go all out with a harder rock song.
So, is it softer than It's Not Over?

AC and HAC will eat this up. I think CHR will be torn on it...I'm sure it'll do at least decently, but I don't think it's the next "Home" there or anything. Doesn't have a strong enough hook. So, is it softer than It's Not Over? I would say so, yeah.

I really like it. I like it better than "Time of My Life" and David Archuleta's "Crush".

Wow. I am a massive David Cook fan and I thought "Crush" was good but it would be the lesser of the two. This song isn't that great though. I want to say it's better than "Crush," but I don't know. The concept is weird. "Even in the daylight shine on" isn't the greatest lyric. I don't think it'll do that well on radio. Maybe #9 highest. Even that I doubt though. His voice sounds decent though. Oh well, I wish it the best. Hopefully his album uses all of his potential.

I don't like it, sounds dated and not in a good way. Prefer Crush by Archie.
