If = F You = U Seek = C Amy = K Me. Now say "if you seek Amy" really fast. Hmmmm.... I still don't hear the f word. ??? Like, Phonography, I can see why they would censor it, but this song, maybe its not a big deal. Were you guys able to catch the "hidden" message right away? Yes. On first listen.

On first listen. before the first listen... just lookin @ the title when the tracklist leaked now it's funny to watch those britney fans act dumb on her forum.. as if she didn't mean fuck me.. they're so stupid.. they say rappers sing things like 'lick me like a lollipop'... how many times has britney sung those naughty things and no one censored her? now the f word has to be censored.. as it's censored on other songs, whosoever it is

I agree with the school of thought that this shouldn't be censored if tracks like "Lollipop" are only minimally censored. The debate will arise because Spears neither explicitly says fuck nor does she explicitly spell out F.U.C.K. It is implied much like the lyrics of "Lollipop" and a myriad of other highly suggestive songs.

While I hate censorship as a whole, if this absolutely has to be censored, I think this would work:
-Rather than just leave "if you" as dead air, stutter the "s" a bit. So that it's "All the girls and all the guys are beggin' to s-s-seek Amy."
-Near the end, where there are a lot of "Oh baby baby if you seek Amy tonight" lines, change "if" to "do" and make it a question. "Oh baby baby do you seek Amy tonight?"
My $.02. CENSORSHIP IS WRONG. 100% of the time.

I don't care if it gets censored or not, as long as radio will play it. This is one of her best songs and I hope radio won't toss it aside. This desreves to be #1.

But, if they must, I like your suggestion with the oh baby baby DO u seek amy tonight. However for the chorus I would just cut the dead time where IF U is supposted to be. All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to seek amy. No pause. Its sweet this is already getting some test spins. Woulnd't it be crazy if this started to take off? She could have 3 songs in the top 40 at the same time. I am so glad radio loves Britney again. Actually, more than they ever have.

Okay, well, that's not as suggestive as past songs by many rappers.

I seriosuly did not get it until I saw that its F.U.C.K. spelled out, not the actual word. It wasn't obvious to me, I think alot of people won't get it either until there is a big media drama about it.

Some of you guys didn't read the article apparently. It's not a matter of if the radio stations have the "balls" to play it, they have to answer to the FCC, which can cause huge problems for the station if they don't abide by their rules. Obviously a station isn't going to risk being pulled off the air just to play Britney's new single. Like the article said, stations will need to run this by the FCC to see what they have to do with it. And I can tell you it's 95% likely the FCC will want stations censoring some part of it. Like I said before, I think they should take out the a in amy. It would make the silence a lot shorter and less obvious than taking out 'if you', and it would eliminate the k sound in 'fuck'.

I would be shocked if the FCC doesn't require stations to censor it (if they want to keep their licenses and/or not get fined). The FCC has it out for the F-word in particular. They've said that it has an inherently sexual connotation no matter what the context and that the use of the F-word in any context can therefore trigger enforcement. So as stupid as it is, I'm sure this song will end up being censored on top 40 radio.

They better scramble to come up with a clever censorship idea or scrap this release because it's not a good sign when the two biggest CHR/Pop stations in the country are already expressing hesitance.

This song is lame. It's like they came up with this "cool" idea of hiding a curse word in a song and then awkwardly made a song around it. People actually think this song is clever in any way?

I really don't see the big deal with the censorship really... if they make a clever censorship, it wouldn't hurt the song's performance on radio, and if people like the song, well... go ahead and download the album version! what's the big problem? They should really make a radio edit asap, radio success has been huge for britney in this era, and it would be stupid to lose the support because of not having a good radio edit.

To be honest I agree with you on the lyrics. There's really nothing clever about them. If u seek amy doesn't make a lick of sense in the song context, and Spears singing about everyone wanting to f u c k her comes off more childish and immature than anything else, especially since she's spelling it out. It's the production that 100% makes this song. I think Max did a helluva job with it, and it really is pop production at it's best.

That's both patronizing and insulting to think an entire fan base is stupid because they have an alternative opinion on censoring this song then you do. ??? prior to this Britney has been very tame by comparison to most. No where near as provocative as songs like "Summer Love", "Lollipop" or "Smack That". Yet those got away with not being edited. She doesn't say the F word. As it has been said some people don't even get it on initial listen. It's more subliminal then anything. It's like editing a song because they found out that when played backwards it says something naughty. The lyrics are taken completly out of context here. Overall the lyrics are rubbish, and nonsensical and that's exactly what people will get at face value. No one will get F-U-C-K ME from this unless they are looking for it.

If they put "Are begging to seek amy", that's two notes missing and the notes are essential, musically, to the rest of the song, or else it's going to sound horrific.

Well I wouldn't want my little kid to hear this, no. I don't think it's ridiculous for them to want to censor it... Censoring 'gun' in Unfaithful is one thing, but I think this song warrants a radio edit. If your kid is perceptive enough to pick up on the subliminal words being spelled out in this song, then he/she is A) likely old enough to hear it, or B) should be in a gifted program and not listening to pop trash on the radio I don't have a 'kid' ahahah, I was being hypothetical. But if you don't actually see the title before hearing the song, it's hard to guess it's If You Seek Amy.
