It was WHTS, according to Mediabase. The songs is probably not registered on yes.com yet, so it doesn't appear on their log.

^^ WHTS is always good about adding songs early. I suspect my station, KQMQ will add it pretty early too.

^Top 10 or 5 finisher in AC and HAC - thats for sure. But unlikely in CHR - its just too mellow - though it has a nice tune to it. A year ago, I would have agreed that this song is 'too mellow' for CHR. Then 'I'm Yours' hit #1 this winter. I love this song. I hope it goes Top 10.

David told fans at the show last night that the video is shooting today and tomorrow, in LA, with the whole band flying out to film it. Can't wait to hear more from the set.
ETA: Since there seems to be many Heroes fans in this thread... Appearantly it's being used in the ACC Tournament. Here's the promo... Love that they're including videos of the band and promoting his album (which, BTW, sold Platinum this week).

I am loving that promo! I've never been crazy about the idea of Heroes as a single, but I think it's slowly starting to win me over... Get that 1 spin smash! i keed, i keed. :) LMAO! I heard it got another spin. 2 spin phenomenon! I think this song will do well. I have a good feeling about this one.

No way would the ACC do an ad for the album if they weren't getting paid.
I'm sure they did the same for Daughtry but maybe I wasn't paying as much attention back then. (Anybody have any idea how much this basketball promo costs?) I think it's smart for RCA but wonder how much it's costing.

I don't think they pay for this stuff, I don't believe that's how these things work. Plus, that's not exactly an ad for the album. At the very best there's some kind of deal, maybe related to the song royalties. I think they had something like this for Daughtry too.
Not sure this song can get to top 10, but it can do better than LO. Maybe peak around 15 if radio is willing to give it a chance. The AI performance should help.

Not everything Cook gets is bought, ok?

They're not just using the song. They're actively promoting the song (special video and all) and the album. And if you think they're doing that for free :) And if they're doing it for royalties or something else, then that's not for free is it? The song needs the promo more than they need the song since it's not a hit single (yet).

Eh, this is already the 3rd time Heroes has been used for a sports related event, and this is just the promo, we have yet to see in what capacity the song will be used. Appearantly it's been done quite a few times before too (one of them, indeed, by Daughtry). I'm not quick to say if it's paid for or not one way or the other at this point, because there isn't anything to go by except gut feeling. In any case it's great promo, which is what I care about since I'm not the accountant for 19M or RCA.
There's an unverified rumor that CBTM will get a radio edit, but I have no idea what's the original source, so grain of salt and all.

Hey guys, I heard 'A Daily Anthem' again on AI tonight..it was used for the idol contestant journey montage. This is like the 3rd time already this season so I think it's gonna be used as the elimination song. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

^^ I don't know if they're using that as the elimination song (I don't even think it fits the montages they're using it for). They stopped the practice of using the same elimination song for every contestant last season and IMO it was far better.

No, they used that Ruben Studdard song, Celebrate Me Home last year for the singout song.
I thought that ADAM worked fine for the montage, but I don't see it as the singout song. The lyrics don't seem to me to fit. I have trouble seeing any of the songs from the CD as the singout song, but you know, I've been wrong before....

I remember they were using something different for the semis for each contestant. TBH, I rarely paid attention to those montages anyway. Maybe it's because that song kinda sucked I don't remember them using for all contestants during the finals. The final three got montages with a different song each, though.

Yep. I'm pretty sure it's the elimination song this season. But I knew that like 3 months ago. The only question was which song. :)

They start the elimination song with the finals, and then they do different montage songs for top 3, because that's when they do "Idol journey" montages for three people---not just the person eliminated at Top 3.

Yeah, I loved it for the montage tonight, but I don't think that means it's the elimination song. Musically it's great, but the lyrics don't really fit and it's not going to be a single. Weren't all elimination songs singles up to now?

Actually, last year was the first year they gave the final 3 all a journey montage. Usually the runner-up and winner don't get any montage at all. Anyway, it's been handled differently each year it seems, so there really isn't one way Idol has done the elimination song. I still don't think a Cook song will be the boot song because none fit. Daughtry's "Home" made sense--it totally fit and it was basically about being eliminated from Idol. The only new song from a former Idol contestant that has been written about Idol is David A.'s "Works for Me" and I don't think Idol is too anxious to use any of his stuff. But wait... we're straying off topic. lol. I guess CBTM has to start doing something so this thread doesn't stall.

If the qualification was "as song about Idol by a former contestant", DC has Life on the Moon which is all about how being on Idol has changed his life, but I don't think it fits as a boot song at all. Boot songs aren't usually "about Idol", they're about going home, picking yourself up, moving on... Yadda yadda yadda. Of course, I don't think they'll use a Cook song either. People have been thinking about CBTM (TOPIC!) but I don't see how it fits.

LOTM is very ambiguous. If "Works for Me" wasn't so upbeat, I think it actually would work lyrically as a boot song. But it's too happy-sounding. Maybe they'll have Cook record something like they did with Ruben last year. They keep playing his stuff, so might as well.

Maybe the boot song will be Bar Ba Sol. Puts a whole new spin on "I feel sick... I feel nervous... I know just what I did to deserve this."
Just kidding. Although that would be kind of funny. Sold and spun again. Oh, and sent home.

Funny, to me it was the other way around. No idea Works For Me was about idol, I thought it was about a girl, but Life On The Moon always sounded to be about idol for me.
I don't think they'll use a song by David, though.

I don't think they'll use a song by David, though. Yeah I agree. I didn't know Work for Me had anything to do with Idol. Life On The Moon seemed pretty obviously about Idol the first time I heard it. Oh well. I don't think anything from DC's album fits as the boot song either.

Can't comment about Works For Me since I haven't heard the song, but yeah, Life on the Moon is quite clearly about Idol, "The life that I knew is through" etc. However - it's about the dark side of the instant fame Idol provides, so not very appropriate to use on the show itself. Like I said - I don't think any boot song has been obviously about Idol, I don't think that's what they're going for. Bad Day had nothing to do with Idol, Celebrate Me Home is a cover of an old song, and there's some debate whether Daughtry's Home was written about the show or before the show. Seems even Daughtry fans aren't in agreement about that one.
I guess we'll know one way or the other next week when the first top 12'er goes home, but again, I think we would've already heard something if AI was using a Cook song. I am curious to see what they'll use regardless.

Gained 2 spins today, for a total of 5 spins on POP. :) I think we'll see similar small gains until the adds date then it should begin to take off. I don't see it exploding but it should have a decent rise.

This already looks much more interesting than the LO video. I hope there aren't any random teens in this one.

IMHO - I am going to rate CBTM as a tuneful lullaby for a good night sleep. It does have this atmospheric rythm (through its guiter work and back-up sound) to create an lazy sunday afternoon feel -which is so conducive for a ZZZZZZZ time.
I think it does have this capability of being a slow-burn grower for some minor success at CHR- but definitely not in the leauge of 'I'm Yours' which is faster, catchier & more unique sounding - which are the all the right ingredients for great CHR success. Have got to admit that the vocal chop from Jason Mraz in "I'm Yours' is simply outstanding - while David Cook's in 'CBTM' is just average.

.. And so David just need to emote and feel for the song when singing - for his technical skills are almost flawless - then every single of his would be able to enjoy success and longetivity. CBTM is just an example of a half-hearted effort.....
Chris Daughtry -is a great example of one who really sings from the heart - which is why his current single (What about now) is still popular even after being released way back in July 08. And that it is still climbing up the AC Chart as of now.
