Hmm...
Radio and Records now has the adds date as April 14th.
All Access and FMQB still as March 17th.

The later adds date would be stupid, IMO. 'Light On' will be long since dead in mid-April. March 17th is the wiser adds date. I hope that's the right one.

Postponing this until mid-April would be stupid. I don't understand why RCA would delay it.
I'm pretty sure Home was released quickly after INO so I don't get this at all (if it's true).

This song is good but not great. I always thought that "Lie" was an obvious choice for next single. But this is good.

It's been what, almost six months since LO came out? It feels like ages, that's for sure. I hope they aren't postponing the add date and I don't see any sense in doing so. The only reason I can think of is if they want to have the video ready, or if his performance on Idol was pushed back, but even if that's the case, it would be smarter to let the song grow on radio in the meantime. If the add date is now indeed in mid April, that's a very questionable decision.

I'm sure they're pushing it back for a good reason, or at least what seems like a good reason right now.
Honestly, what's coming up on CHR right now is pretty much exactly opposite of what this song is. A lot of hip hop and rhythmic stuff are getting spun more now than even 2 months ago, and heavier hip hop stuff than what was getting played before. It's getting tough for even straight pop to get played unless it has some element of hip hop in it. The success of "Gives You Hell" has ushered in more acceptance for some alt-pop, so FOB and We The Kings are doing ok, but CBTM isn't like those, either.
I think this song is more along the lines of what Gavin Rossdale is putting out, and Gavin's latest single isn't doing anything on CHR, but is climbing Hot AC. Maybe RCA is trying to find an opening for the song so it's not as difficult for it to climb.
It seems that the "latest" version of CHR is a combination of rhythmic/alt-pop/hip hop. Songs up at the top don't reflect that as much as songs down at the bottom, but I hope it's not a trend that lasts. I want my pop radio back. I want to listen to real pop again, but straight pop may be relegated to Hot AC for the time being, which seems very odd. And songs like CBTM, which is softer pop-rock and which has been traditional Hot AC for awhile, don't really have an opening right now on CHR without extraordinary means by the label (ala, Miley Cyrus's "The Climb").

Well, whatever the add date may end up being, it has now been confirmed that David will appear on Idol on Wednesday the 18th (next week's results show). While we don't know for certain what he'll be singing, I think odds are pretty high that it will be CBTM. :)
ETA: David vlogs about the upcoming release and the CBTM video.

I'm not buying the delay (especially to as far out as 4/14) until allaccess reflects it. But if there is a delay, my guess is that RCA is thinking that the song needs to build more momentum before it goes for adds.
BTW, his publicist confirmed last night that he's performing on Idol on 3/18.

Maybe they're having doubts about it and thinking of changing it (just wishful thinking here).

I think the AI appearance is necessary to get a fire going. I'm sure they're hoping for a big iTunes boost. Radio will play a monster well in advance of an adds date so this is probably getting a slow start. I don't see this doing any better than LO on CHR.

Heh, atunes. I tend to think that this would do better on CHR than LO, which just seemed less CHR-friendly to me. I don't see it as a smash, but I think that it will do better than LO.

I like the song but it sounds very AC to me. Like something Celine Dion would sing. :)

Wow the first day CBTM is released to radio and it gets performed on AI, the biggest show ever. This is perfect timing for Cook and I'm sure CBTM will go to itunes top 10 after the performance. Even Brooke White's song got to #7 after she performed on AI. I'm not a big fan of the song but 25 mil audience impressions on the first day of release will do wonders for it :)

Since the producer of AI is Cook's manager, did you expect anything less than perfect timing? :)

CBTM is already owned by a Million people who bought the album, including David's AI fans. I'm not saying it won't go Top 10 on iTunes, but I'm not taking anything for granted. Also, I'm not expecting this to blow up on radio as a result of being performed on AI. PDs don't care about what is and isn't performed on the show. It could help with requests, I guess, but there may not be any immediate impact on radio play.

The AI performance will prob do more for him than for Brooke. Since the producer of AI is Cook's manager, did you expect anything less than perfect timing? :) Wow I didn't know that. No wonder Cook's music is always being played on AI this season.

The point is that it was her first release post-Idol, so all the Idol fans who liked the song bought it since none of them owned it already. On the other hand, CBTM has been out for months and many of Cook's fans who watch Idol and are inclined to buy former Idols' music have already purchased the album, which includes CBTM. Therefore, they won't be buying it again after he performs it this week. But it will obviously get an itunes boost - everything performed on AI does.

In other news. Permanent is truly special. I get it. It's really a great piece of work, and he delivers fantasticly. Like I'm surpised he's able to sing it without getting overly emotional, because I always wanna tear up when I see him perform it. Oh, yeah, and CBTM... I think he's better at ejecting emotion live. I'm warming up to the choice. Can't wait to see him perform it on idol. BUT he needs to ease up on the cheeseburgers.

Idols managed by Simon Fuller are featured on the show. For example, Carrie Underwood is getting the S8 boot song. Anybody surprised? Wait, maybe David Cook should be jellus of Carrie, if that's what you mean?

Seriously- I get pissed when my faves don't get the promo they deserve, and people who've already gotten boatloads get even more. It's a natural reaction. Just ask the Kelly Rowland fans. ;) But I guess we're above all that, right? :)

I'd love to see Permanent live---it was great as a studio version, but live, it is absolutely ridiculous. I'm liking Come Back to Me better now that I've heard it live. I think that they're still working out the background vocals, but even from one concert to another those got better. By the 18th, the live CBTM performance should be fantastic.

wrong format and it's too early. Um, how? LO was release like 6 months ago. That's a long time ago. And as for the format, if LO got top 20, I'm pretty sure this will as well. And he always has HAC to fall back on, so he's not really all that dependent on CHR anyway.
