But it's so much more interesting than "Bright Bulbs". Countdown to stabbing. 5. 4. 3... Bright Bulbs and Three Foolproof Ways... are the only songs I ever skip. Remember folks, the track order is created for a reason... tracks two through four are the most catchy on this album for a reason, you hit people up front with the most accessible stuff and then put the better album cuts in the back.

You're skipping a great song. I heard the demo a zillion times before the album came out, and the demo was better than the album version.

This one is done. It's probably a day or two away from being off the chart for good. :(
I hope they get a 2nd single though at this point I'm already passed any hope of them having a radio hit ever again.

They're too good for radio.

This is really depressing, since the song is so good but on the other hand, sounds like it could work on radio. :(
I'm getting the album on the 21st hopefully. Amazon is soooo fucking slow, I ordered the album like 2 and a half weeks ago. >:(

Word on the street has it that "Whiskey & Ritalin" will be #2. If active rock radio airplay is their goal, I don't see any other choice necessarily doing better, though it's not one of my absolute top favorites. Still, compared to what follow up singles Sevendust chose of CDM, this is a very FINE choice. :)

Lol 'word on the street.'
I don't mind what they release. I think "Musical Chairs" was their best shot at a hit, so I think their career on radio is dead, at least for this era.

Probably for this album, yeah. Sometimes bands have to go a few albums deep to really get a high charting debut single. I have a feeling with their case, it may come in the next album. I'd assume most Active listeners know who Fair To Midland are, and they're just on the verge of breaking out in the near future.

But this is about a 25 point drop-off in peak between "Dance Of The Manatee" and this. I'm worried that the four-year layaway and the label change may have done more damage than further time and promotion will end up making up for. But it is fully possible that they may be more popular than before, just with way worse radio promotion this time around.

Pen just wanted me to tell you all that his computer's hard drive crashed at some point last weekend and he's waiting for a new one to arrive. By the way, he saw Fair to Midland live the other night and will have a full review once he's able to get back online. Basically, he said it was nothing short of EPIC. He says that the show reminds you that life is awesome and YOU are living in it. That is all.

He says that the show reminds you that life is awesome and YOU are living in it. That is all. I have returned from the darkness. I won't go into much detail on the whole show unless someone wants to know, but I will say that it was a phenomenal performance. Even the sound check was invigorating, and Darroh is a dominating presence. Even though he didn't talk once due to time constraints, he was bouncing around like a lunatic and really getting the crowd fired up for each and every song. Setlist included: From intra.funda.stile Orphan Anthem From Fables Dance Of The Manatee Walls Of Jericho Say When A Seafarer's Knot Tall Tales Taste Like Sour Grapes From Arrows Whiskey And Ritalin (opener) Musical Chairs Uh-Oh Amarillo Sleeps On My Pillow Coppertank Island Rikki Tikki Tavi Golden Parachutes (encore) Can't remember the order so this will have to do. Anyway, nice to see all of you again.

That set was huge! Was that a headlining gig?
Also, I said that Cliff had said they were leaning towards "Whiskey & Ritalin" as the single, but KFMW just added "Golden Parachutes". "Whiskey & Ritalin" is definitely the heavier song that would ensure active rock fans think they're tough enough, but "Golden Parachutes" has the catchier chorus for sure.

Openers were this band Dream Delirium that sounded like Mars Volta except the vocalist sounded like a cat getting out of a tree; Empyrium who was a death metal group that tore my face off with their screaming and overall crushing riffery; and The Deepest Red which was a pretty nice straightforward hard rock band with strong choruses. Personally I wouldn't choose either of them for a single, because I would favor either Uh-Oh or Coppertank, but all songs are glorious and thus it is not a loss.

"Uh Oh" and "Whiskey & Ritalin" would have been much better choices. "Whiskey..." has become a favorite of mine from the album. :)

Well just cuz one station added "Parachutes" doesn't make it the single, but if we see a couple more stations add it then we'll know.
