Yes, and the trailer looks great. Love how it begins with Katy alone singing soulfully Firework. Probabably her most beloved and signature song.

Did she sample the "TD" song from them? Interesting...

Katy at the movie premiere:
Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Carly Rae Jepson make an appearance in support of the film. :)

At first, I was confused as to why "Firework" was back in the iTunes top 100, then I realized that Wednesday is the 4th of July.

Her movie has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes at the moment. Granted only 7 reviews, but still, wow!

I thought that said "100% rotten" 12 reviews now - down to 83%, but that's still very high

The album is #1 on Amazon!!! I'm expecting a huge increase in sales next week. Could it possibly jump back into the Top 5 with all the movie promotion as well??

29 24 KATY PERRY CAPITOL/EMI 13,893 +5% TEENAGE DREAM
This week's HITS numbers. Add in Wide Awake's increasing airplay, increasing promo for the movie, and the Amazon discount so far (I'm surprised iTunes isn't doing discounts to $7.99 for OOTB and TD, and $9.99 or so for TD:TCC) and it should see a decent increase. Enough for top 10? Meh, that's debatable. Definitely see a nice increase, though.

Soo... does this make her as "evil" as Gaga now? Nope. It's not the debut week. Down to 71% on RT, but that's amazingly high. Completely blowing away my expectations on critic reviews. For reference: Jo Bros' got a 25% Justin's got a 64% Hannah/Miley's got a 71% Michael's got an 81%

^^^ Exactly, it's not her debut week!!!!! I think the Gaga/Katy comparisons can stop now. Given 2 years of non-stop hits, it's clear who the new #1 pop female is. She has really connected with the main stream music listeners so much. Considering a she was expected to be a one-hit-wonder right as soon as her debut single was released, she's come such a long way! (I still like Gaga too though)

I was joking. But still, it's the same concept. Selling an album for dirt cheap. Not that the artists or labels have anything to do with it, but still. Obviously Gaga's is still a bigger deal due to the timing and such. And yes, Katy is definitely the #1 pop female right now. Teenage Dream was much more successful than Born This Way. However, pop is a very fickle beast. Next thing you know, they could have moved on from Katy to the next big female. You never really know what will happen, though. A new artist could break out and be the next big thing (Carly Rae?), an old star could return brighter than ever (Ke$ha, Gaga, Britney), or things could stay the same for a while and allow Katy to be on top. You just can't really tell anything with pop radio... But I can tell you one thing. The Katy/Gaga comparisons will never stop.

I think Katy is bigger in the US, but on a worldwide level GaGa is bigger.

Katy is definitely the #1 female pop artist right now. I'd say Adele is #2, but that will fade if she doesn't release new material soon. So because of that i'd say Rihanna is #2. I'd go as far to say Carly might be zooming in on the #3 position, and Gaga has to compete with all 3 of those ladies by the end of the year when she releases new material. And P!nk is probably #4 waiting in the wings. I'm not a fan of her new song, but i love her, and she brings new hype to the scene. In this day and age taking long breaks is dangerous for a career. There is so much competition. Gaga has a hard road ahead of her. She won't have Katy to compete with, but she'll have Carly and P!nk, and probably new Ke$ha by that time. All those new songs will be competing. Plus No Doubt. Katy is the clear winner right now, but once Wide Awake peaks, it's anyone's game really. Gaga will have to step it up bigtime if she wants the #1 spot again. And she will have to do that without selling out in terms of CHR-sound, and yet not being polorizing once again. It's a fine line, but i'm sure she'll handle it. It just needs to be the stomper of the winter season, that's all. But then Carly's 3rd single might be greater than the first two, you never know. Plus Ke$ha's lead single. It's all up in the air.... lol but it's exciting!!

^ Not to mention Xtina and possibly Britney coming up with a single in the fall. Katy is the reigning queen of pop radio that's for sure. If her album sales were a bit higher she'd be the Queen of pop overall but as of now she only owns pop radio.

But Britney most likely will not release anything until 2013. I'm not sure Gaga has to compete with Christina and Carly might or might not be a one-hit wonder. Pink will bring it I'm sure.

I have no clue what the other tour movies were like. Were the purely tour videos? Not half tour, half biography like this one? Feel free to ask me questions about the movie.

Katy bigger than Gaga in the US? Nah...
Gaga may be facing a hits drought, but Gaga is still the bigger star. Katy just has really popular songs, but you dont have to be "popular" to be the bigger star.
Gaga is probably the most well known female Pop artist since Britney.

So there were more people than I expected at the movie last night. Hard to judge, but somewhere between 25 and 50 people. Nowhere close to being full, though.
Trying to compile a list of songs played: I Kissed a Girl (concert) Thinking of You (I think concert) Hot N Cold (concert) Teenage Dream (pretty sure they did this. They showed her going on stage to start the concert and that came on, but I don't remember if they did most/all of the song or just the beginning) Last Friday Night (not positive on this, but they did at least part of it for the concert. Showed her sister dressing up as Kathy Beth Terry; also made a big deal about the 5 #1s) California Gurls (concert. I think this was the last song before the credits) Firework (concert. Right before California Gurls) Peacock (concert) The One That Got Away (concert) E.T. (pretty sure is was there from the concert. I remember lots of laser lights and I'm pretty sure it was this playing to them) Who Am I Living For? ( concert. Pretty sure it's this one. The one where she's wearing all black and is kinda chained to four dancers pulling on her) Hummingbird Heartbeat (I believe this was just in the background) Not Like the Movies (pretty sure this was there, from the concert) Part of Me (during the opening credits, I'm pretty sure) Wide Awake (closing credits)
She also sang Hey Jude at a charity concert, which they played.
Also some random old songs of hers, and footage from old studios.
I think those are all the songs played... I thought there were more not concert footage lol
