Gosh, such low sales. :/ Doesn't prevent me from liking the CD, though.

Not surprised (but disappointed) by his sales. He has zero radio presence. You can't build a fanbase without that. His only hit was his coronation song. And he's not getting great reviews either which means not much hype and words of mouth among the "cool" crowd who support rock bands and singer/songwriters.

Well, TLG is slowly creeping up on HAC and VH1. Hopefully the album sales won't be too dismal.

From what I can tell, the "cool" crowd and a lot of reviewers have never given him a chance. I mean, seriously: the EW review looked like it was written back in 2008---citing Raine Maida as a cowriter when no Maida-co-writes appear on this album---and stuck away to use for slamming album#2.

I'm pleasantly surprised at the sales for this. I think it's an EXCELLENT album, beginning to end.
I need to hear it through a few more times to form more of an opinion. But I've heard this through twice so far and can't find a bad track.

I love every single track on it. I hope they release Circadian or Time Marches On, because I can hear those both become big AC/HAC hits and pick up the sales for this album.

I don't know that I see Circadian as a radio song (although I love it, and think it's a great opener for the album). I'm hoping for Paper Heart next, or maybe Time Marches On. Both are strong songs, seem radio friendly, and play well live.

the way it's dropping on itunes, it would be lucky to reach 100k in the end.

Not to many people even notice that this album is out, it doesn't have a hit single either. His label is mainly to blame for this. The set up for the album was horrendous.

I disagree that the roll-out was horrendous. The promo was pretty good. I might be one of your average listeners; we're just not into this sound. I bought Permanent from his first album, but nothing on this one appeals to me.

I had NO IDEA. I was browsing itunes the other day and saw it. Even though his music doesn't do it for me, I'm usually pretty well informed about new releases from online sites and many music publications that I periodically read. Never heard or read anything about a new album from him. I guess marketing was pretty bad.

Yeah his promo was horrible, and The Last Goodbye is a terribly generic song. I think he might be better off going for a more AAA direction...

They're testing "Paper Heart" at HitPredictor. I like that song a lot. Maybe it can do something at HAC. Not sure if a HAC hit would be enough to save this album, but it's something.

Isn't Hit Predictor driven by public demand as much as the label? But it would be good if the label finally tried another song!!! David needs at least an HAC hit, even if it doesn't drive a huge amount of sales..otherwise I would be very pessimistic about his career.. Paper Heart could do it on HAC, imo.

The sound quality of the Paper Heart snippet on Hit Predictor is so bad. It just makes the song sound distorted and loud, and it ticked me off because that could negatively influence people who have never heard the song and won't know any better. I mentioned that in the comment box so hopefully they fix it. :-\ I would have much preferred it to be the lead single over TLG.

How is the album selling in Canada? Was it released in any other countries? If he is having some success outside the US, he may still be okay. If not, he really is going to have to do something to get some radio presense or his album his going to crash and burn.
Does he have a tour in the works? I didn't see anything on his website. Keeping a band paid while he is not touring will cut into any profits he might have at this time. I'm sure his management is assessing what they are looking at right now. What's planned in promo after the TV appearance (tonight)?

you know I love Paper Heart but honestly I was not enthused with the recorded version. It sounds so much better live.

Here are the numbers for week #4: 73 COOK*DAVID THIS LOUD MORNING 6276 -23 72339 Not a bad drop. I think I thought initially that without a radio hit that he would stay in the top 200 for two months. He may actually do better than that and if they could get some radio play for a second single....

According to DCO, seems like they aren't change to a new single anytime soon.
