She can come back but she can't afford to release albums every 4 years anymore.
However, if the Burlesque soundtrack flops, then she is going to have a much harder time making a come back.

I think the Bionic era is basically done, but if she gets another album out within the next year that's radio-friendly and full of solid hit songs, she could easily see more success. However if she waits years to release another album it will do nothing. She needs to act fast.

She'll never have great success again, but I think she can still be a successful artist with decent sales.

I think she's sure to recover. Who's managing her at the moment?

But your comment and this thread were about maintaining a commercially successful career. Nobody has checked for Patti in decades. Patti has been in the business fifty f***ing years. She was AT LEAST as successful, if not moreso, in her third and fourth decades in the business than she was in her first two decades. The point is -- if you have talent, you can have longevity. Patti's last flirtation with success was in 1985. Let's not act like there are 40-year-olds smashing on the regular like it was 25 years ago.

I think no. I think the propelling reason for her so far flopped era is because of her attitude mostly, at least for me. General public doesnt have any interest listening to Bionic after the disappointing first single. Unless she releases something good like Beautiful or Fighter, she would never recover, imo.

Of course she will ... Everyone does. But if burlesque flops, she's got a long road ahead of her.

I hope she can come back but I'm starting to have my doubts after so many terrible career choices and awful management

She's not done. I think she has peaked commercially, but may still have a hit here and there. The girl definitely has major connections now and a ton of media elite fans. I personally do not care for her as a person and very rarely enjoy her as a live performer. If people are not wanting to hear her sing (which is her only talent, really), I'm not sure why she's setting herself up to be an actress (where she appears very amateurish and limited in talent). If she continues to deliver mediocre quality at both, she's definitely not going much farther.

I think the problem with many of these older divas is that they are still trying to do music that belongs to the 20 year olds. They should really develop their sound into a more mature style. Mariah did that with TEOM.

Mariah did that with TEOM. Butterfly sounded more mature overall than TEOM Christina is still young, but her music has always been mature after Stripped, but every now and then, a "fun" song is thrown in the mix to grab attention e.g Dirrty and Not Myself Tonight. I agree with the poster who said she can't afford to release albums 4 years apart. If Burlesque does flop and her acting's a critical flop, then I say she better look for a coffin now

If she goes to Dr. Luke and Max Martin then her career would recover.

She is too far up her own ass to work with anyone who will give her a legitimate hit.
So, no.

Patti's last flirtation with success was in 1985. Let's not act like there are 40-year-olds smashing on the regular like it was 25 years ago. Her mainstream success has been very limited since then, but she has had some format-specific success after that. Christina's old? ??? She isn't even 30 yet. If 30 is considered old, what does that mean for people who are in their 40's? Senior citizens? Fossils? I think no. I think the propelling reason for her so far flopped era is because of her attitude mostly, at least for me. General public doesnt have any interest listening to Bionic after the disappointing first single. Unless she releases something good like Beautiful or Fighter, she would never recover, imo. That may have played a part in it, but attitude alone didn't do that. Releasing material similar or identical to some of her other hits could really go either way. Some will say she is just doing the same thing again, or that she's desperate to push forth that same era's aesthetic in an attempt to be successful and relevant again. Her new single Express has flop written all over it. Just what she needed. Another flop project the label's not even promoting it/sending it to radio, right? And the movie isn't looking good either. #Floptina4LyfeThe buzz so far has been mixed. If it does even moderately well, it could help. Some of the songs on the soundtrack could work as singles, but whether they actually promote any of them in that fashion remains to be seen. I think the problem with many of these older divas is that they are still trying to do music that belongs to the 20 year olds. They should really develop their sound into a more mature style. Mariah did that with TEOM. Excellent point. I felt she was progressing in that manner as her first album was young and fun, then her second album (I'm not counting the Spanish album) was much more serious and mature. It did have some fun, carefree moments, but as a whole it was much more artistic. Then her third album was a concept album with a mixture of both fun, young songs and some serious, artistic stuff. Then her last one seemed to be packaged like a fun album, with some serious, proper songs thrown in. It was a bit of a contradiction. I feel like this is her MOAIA album and that maybe her next one could help her make a return. She is too far up her own ass to work with anyone who will give her a legitimate hit. So, no. That did complicate things, but there are some new people who possibly could make their careers if they were to produce something for her that works. And there are some she did work with where she didn't do anything to piss them off yet. But given her track record, it could happen very soon.

well, imo her career is really riding on whatever her next record is. I don't see Burlesque doing anything, but then I don't consider that her next record. If it flops, she's more than likely not going to do very well. If it's successful, Pulse gets to keep those little cretins we call Xtina stans.

Tricky Stewart on how Christina Aguilera can get her career back on track & other stuff.
Christina Aguilera's Bionic met with disappointing sales this summer, but producer-songwriter Christopher “Tricky” Stewart is convinced she’ll be back on top soon enough. “It just seemed like the timing was a little bit off and things got a little bit out of sync for her on that project,” says Stewart, who worked on several Bionic tracks and went on to serve as executive music consultant for Aguilera’s upcoming movie Burlesque (out Nov. 24). “This film is going to bring her right back where she needs to be. When she starts to focus on a new project, I think it’s going to be amazing.”
Stewart doesn’t think Aguilera needs to switch things up when the time comes to record her next album, either. “I think what Christina does musically is always fine,” he adds. “It’s a matter of if it can be marketed properly. When I listen to [Bionic], I definitely am a fan. More than anything, it was promoted poorly.”
In addition to producing five songs for Burlesque, Stewart also recently produced two songs from Michael Jackson‘s posthumous album Michael (due Dec. 14). He shrugs off online gossip about whether Jackson really sang on Michael: “I don’t really know where all that’s coming from. The tracks that I did were 100 percent Michael Jackson.”
Rounding out his busy fall season, Stewart also produced the entirety of Jessica Simpson‘s Happy Christmas album (due Nov. 22). “To me it’s one of the best albums I’ve ever been a part of,” he says. “I’m really, really proud of that album…When I went back and listened to her country album, I was really impressed with her as a singer. I definitely think she’s underrated.”

Now that Burlesque hasnt been a complete failure like many people expected I definitely think she can come back if they pull a Kelly Clarkson with her
