“Don’t Let Me Stop You” made cut! One of my favorites and rarely performed live. She probably feels those lyrics a lot more these days, unfortunately.

Listening now and the chorus is a total earworm, but the production with the driving drums is a little too chipper for the lyrics IMO, definitely sounds like SITW to me as well. Song feels like the successor to "You Won't Find This," which is one of my favorites off CR.

Waltz tempo ballad! I love them and feel like CU doesn't do many of those.

I will never understand Carrie's affection for FOTF. It's not a single, she didn't write it, and I doubt it would be in the top 20 of most fans' favorites. Did "The Champion" really not make the list? Looks like a fantastic show though. Congrats to Typo on the meet and greet and thanks for the report!

MF’s birthday present to Carrie, the “I don’t need Google, my husband knows everything” shirt, and Carrie’s face while wearing it probably says it all tbh. I also found Carrie’s anecdote about how her husband always tells her when she gains weight and tells her to hit the gym kinda strange, I’m glad she takes it as positive motivation, but it definitely could be a problematic thing to say to many people. As a sports fan, I’ve seen a fair number of retired pro athletes become social media trolls and worse to seek attention, since they no longer have that one thing that was their raison d’être for 30 years even though they are still in the prime of life otherwise but missing the adrenaline and adulation that came with their jobs while still suffering from the chronic injuries and after effects of concussions. Many are poorly educated due to being advanced in school just to play sports and surrounded only by colleagues just like them their whole adult lives and have a very narrow world view. There’s a host of physical and psychological issues there that Carrie couldn’t “fix” even if she wanted to. In conclusion, Mike's posts are very problematic. I hope Carrie doesn't share the same ideas surrounding COVID-19 because I need her to get that shot to keep her ass safe (and her kids) and so we can get her back out on tour ASAP. I wish nothing but happiness for her and Mike and the kiddos, but I am liking Mike less and less every time he gets on social media. HOWEVER my opinion has no value in their marriage. THIS.

A live double album of MG/MS recorded from the soundboards of the two specials would be perfect for the holiday season. No screaming audience like for normal live albums so the audio quality would be first rate. Just watched again while casting to my TV and she was perfection. My only complaint is where was this arrangement of “Amazing Grace” on the studio album? The album version is a little low key and too harmonica driven for my tastes. So yeah, gimme those live recordings.

Given Carrie changed her Twitter profile pic to her fitness stuff, I’m sure she’s promoting fit52/Find Your Path for New Year, New You diet exercise regimen.
I thought it was a little weird she didn’t chat with Seacrest on radio or TV for MG promo though. Maybe for the next album she’ll hit up Idol in April.

Billboard charts updated with new peaks: Hot 100: Hallelujah #54, FToY #62, SN #94 Hot Country Songs: Hallelujah #3, FToY #5, SN #8, LDB #44 Global 200: FToY#114, Hallelujah #126 Digital Songs: Hallelujah #11 Holiday 100: Hallelujah #39 Silly question, maybe answered elsewhere, but: why isn’t FToY on the Holiday 100? FToY is #49 on Holiday 100, previous peak #46 SN is #83, peak #69

Much worse I imagine without the power of Amazon behind it. It wouldn’t lose the power of Amazon, though; it’d just gain the powers of Spotify, Apple Music, etc. Hell, it isn’t even available on iTunes right now. Presumably jamatthews83 means that FToY won’t receive the prime positions on the Amazon holiday playlists once it is no longer an exclusive, like Katy’s “Cozy Little Christmas,” they will still list it as an Amazon original, but it won’t be in one of the first positions and that is a major factor in how many streams songs get. Also Team Carrie needs to sort things out with Spotify and have her sing some exclusive tracks or something, they only put her on the Country Holiday list and not any of the others—MG tracks were especially glaringly absent from the new holiday hits playlist that included every Tom, Dick, or Harry who released a new Christmas track this year who isn’t Carrie. Lack of Spotify support may well have cost “Hallelujah” potentially top 40 on the Hot 100 seeing how many subscribers their top holiday playlists get. If “Hallelujah” got comparable playlisting to Dan/Shay, Kelly/Brett, or Dolly/Michael who are all on the main Christmas Hits list, Carrie/John could have had another 10 million streams easily, which is a major reason I believe the song hasn’t reached its max potential. Carrie’s songs were was placed on the Apple Music Holiday hits playlist, which is probably due to her doing podcasts with them. The whole playlisting situation is so political and corrupt, just like the Grammys since they moved to using the secret committee nominations instead counting everyone’s votes—I honestly can’t recall if Carrie has even been nominated since they changed the process, certainly she’s garnered way less Grammy attention since then. So yeah, not holding my breath for nominations off MG or MS, no matter how phenomenal her vocals are. Re: the new album, I gather gospel means all English language songs? I actually would love for her to do the traditional Latin hymns, many have beautiful melodies, and I reckon Carrie can handle the Latin if she’s running around singing Spanish, plus school choirs sing them—I myself have sung quite a few since elementary school and I’m around Carrie’s age—so I am sure she is familiar with them. But guessing that I’m going to have to keep waiting for CU’s take on “Ave Maria” since it doesn’t really fit the title of this particular album.

Fingers crossed for a proper ballad version of “Amazing Grace.” Not really a fan of the short snip she does in SITW, which is too rocked out and doesn’t have the buildup and dynamics of the ballad arrangement. I wonder if these side projects count towards fulfilling her record deal, and how many albums she has left with Capitol Nashville.
“Hallelujah” looks like it should be Top 10 on Hot Country Songs, maybe even top 5, in the next Billboard chart given the surge in downloads and streams since last Friday and regular country airplay falling. Carrie hasn’t had a top 10 there since CP and it would be John’s first (his song with Kane Brown peaked at #18 HCS). Hopefully they will keep promoting it next year and we get some actual live performances at Rock Center and CMA Country Christmas, and she could do FToY too if it is released from the Amazon exclusive. Getting those songs features on some Christmas movie soundtracks would be great too. Considering “Hallelujah” has held steady top 25 on iTunes since the music video release despite an onslaught of new, discounted, or heavily promoted songs, I think it really has so much more potential going forward with continued exposure.

Guessing she’s doing the TV edit of at least a few of the songs where one verse/chorus gets cut. I read they are showing behind the scenes on recording with Isaiah on LDB so I don’t know if she will sing that one. Love all the outfits! Fashionista Carrie is always a treat. I enjoy specials with silly skits like Carrie’s for Fox and Kelly’s for NBC, but a classic special definitely suits this album more.

“Hallelujah” up to 19 on iTunes! Music video did its job. Hopefully radio will pick up the pace as well.
I wonder if Carrie approved the My Gift playlist on Spotify? The song choices on there besides her own songs are so interesting to me, some very old school songs by legends (including Ave Maria, which I’ve always wanted her to sing) and a few rock covers. I know she picked the fit52 tracks for sure since those are listed in her book.

Soooo does HBO Max have a free trial period? Asking for a friend... I think it’s one week normally, but if you are a current AT&T customer you may have a free month or even a free subscription depending on your plan: www.att.com/hbo-max/Yay a real music video! Excited to see the promo start rolling out.

Get that Amazon jingle Christmas coin, Carrie. She’s adorable in the commercial.
Agree with those who say FToY wouldn’t have fit on the album since all the songs are so serious, but glad to have a chance to listen to fun new music.

Back to #1 on iTunes albums! A lot of new Christmas albums out there that are cheaper with more songs per album, but our girl’s quality vocals and high production values with full orchestra being recognized by the people.

FYI John made a scheduled appearance at a conference I attended virtually only a few days after the sad news, and before he was on the Billboard awards so he is still working. Seems like HBO Max special is already taped, found this link on CF: My Gift is at #6 on iTunes, pretty impressive for a no promo Christmas album before Halloween that was released a month ago. Word of mouth for this album must be good.

I listened on Spotify and her vocals are arresting, and I love that they are front and center and minus the wall of sound much of her studio work has. I would have preferred OHN and HYSAMLC to have slightly faster tempo, though maybe I’m just used to the versions she has sung before. Anyone known when the iTunes preorders download? They say purchased for me but no option to play or download. Just have to stream more , but I definitely want to hear everything in HQ.

Video is #28 on YouTube trending despite the much delayed posting. TBH I forgot the ACMs were even on so a great surprise to hear Carrie won a big award and delivered an epic performance. Between this and the Opry show with Brad, her voice has never sounded stronger, and I am so excited that we’re getting new music with her vocals in this incredible shape in just a few days!

Any new Carrie music sounds good to me right now. Although I hope the Christmas album isn’t all “countried up” and has traditional arrangements.
PS if anyone saved a copy of Carrie singing “You Won’t Find This” from the FC party please drop me a link in PM. I don’t recall her ever singing that song live before and would love to hear it.

Uh, I didn’t realize “Heartbeat”’s streams were so high. I wonder if some Sam Hunt fans put it on their playlists for his BGV, he’s huge on Spotify (for a country artist). For a song with no airplay, “The Champion” has pretty amazing streams. If only the CP singles could do so well. Still waiting for “Drinking Alone” to be released ...

Thought we’d never get SYA (left off the original BA tour list) or JAD (one of her most vocally and emotionally demanding singles) again, and they are two of my faves, so yay. Excited to hear the live version of the CP songs she hadn’t played live yet! I wasn’t too happy with her set lists for the last two tours since a lot of my preferred songs off those albums were left off, but the selections off the current album for this tour look good. A little surprised “Kingdom” isn’t on there though.

How many artists took the stage more than once last night? Seemed like an unusually large number. Yet no slots for Kelsea and Kacey is just weird.
I feel like Keith is winning these EOTYs a year or two late. Ripcord was a huge commercial success, and Graffiti U not so much.

I don't get why Carrie hardly ever sings non-singles from current album to promote it. Carrie tends to struggle for a little while with figuring out where to breathe when she has new music that she hasn’t practiced singing live much. Her songs are more demanding than most so it takes her some time to adjust. Usually after a few tour stops she’s got it, but TV debuts before she’s lived with the songs are a little sketchy sometimes, and she’s probably too much of a perfectionist to go out there and wing it with random rarely practiced song before on short notice. It was a nice surprise that she did LINYA on TV last era since she didn’t even have that in the tour set list, so baby steps. “Love Wins” seems similar to Luke Bryan’s “Most People Are Good” in sentiment so I think it will probably fit in fine on country radio. It would be great if she could do a different song at the AMAs, but not holding my breath on that one. Besides the above reasons, it might come across a little weird for a hugely pregnant Carrie to be singing about drinking alone or hooking up with an ex.

Honestly there’s hardly any CDs even in stores now, I went to Target for the special edition and there was one rack for all music, and I didn’t see CP at all, although there was an ad for it, went home and ordered it online to pick up later at another Target location, and they just emailed me said they’re out, even though they were allegedly in stock when I placed my order. Either it’s selling out or the stores never got the CDs, not sure what is happening.

I ... don’t know what I just listened to, but I was not expecting that, even though I listened to the clips. “Cry Pretty” is so non-representative of the album sonically that I really wish they named the album something else. Like who knew Carrie secretly loved 90s R&B pop? I guess nobody at Sony.

I’m a little hung up on the idea that Sony dictated what Carrie sang, but allowed other artists (cough, Miranda) free reign to release whatever she wanted. Was it because Carrie was the one making them money? There is already conjecture that Sony pushed Miranda for awards because “she needed it more.” And, Carrie also waited until the new regime was installed to cut lose. ( I don’t know what kind of restrictions male artists there have, maybe they’re told what to release too) Carrie signed a very restrictive contract out of Idol, and Miranda didn't have that problem (although it was renegotiated after the success of SH to be more favorable to Carrie). Also Miranda's original contract expired sooner, and she was given her own imprint and presumably the freedom to record outside the demands of commercialism as the terms for reupping. Plus the Idols have always been viewed primarily as singers and not as artists/songwriters. Notably, of Carrie's slew of Grammy awards and nominations, none have been for songwriting. Labels are notorious for sticking with what has worked in the past, and it certainly felt like they kept trying to recreate the success of JTTW and BHC, and Carrie wound up with a disproportionate number of those types of songs as singles. Carrie tends to frame things as difference of opinion re: single choices and whatnot rather than outright disagreement, so you kind of have to read between the lines. What she said about not wanting to make the same music in her mid thirties as in her early twenties or make same album over and over is telling IMO. When Storyteller was released she was a little :/ that people automatically expected a religious song to be included and said that just because she is Christian doesn't mean all her albums have to overtly address it. And the "jokes" about how she hates men because of all her singles that criticize or kill men are probably annoying to her as a person with positive relationships with the men in her life that she explicitly asked for no more of this type of songs for the upcoming album. As for CP being ballad heavy, so was Some Hearts, and that's probably the most relatable of Carrie's albums to date. She leaned away from the ballads in CR because it was difficult to keep concertgoers engaged with a bunch of ballads, but with her current discography that won't be a problem.

We know already that when Carrie was looking for songs that she didn’t want cheating/divorce songs.
Anyway I am so here for Relapse pt 2. Maybe Carrie does know that the original could have been a hit... I’ve always wanted her to dip more into the ‘Adele’ lane of universally relatable songs about the longing/regret/nostalgia of lost love. She’s had some great album cuts; SWG, YWFT, WCIS, WAW, etc but there’s always just been those one or two per album that never see the light of day as singles. With several options maybe we’ll finally get that big heart-wrenching, punch you in the gut power ballad that makes her a worldwide star.
After reading/listening to all these interviews, I am convinced the change in label was about artistic freedom. She seems very concerned about the problem of making the same album over and over (and this has been a criticism leveled at a number of her singles) and wants to be clear she has something to say as a person with serious material and isn’t just a storyteller.
