A lot of surprising artists are lending their music to the new Twilight soundtrack:
Vampire Weekend, Beck (with Bat for Lashes), the Bravery, the Dead Weather, Metric, Florence + the Machine, the Black Keys, Fanfarlo, UNKLE, Band of Horses, Cee-Lo, et al., in addition to Muse.
It's hard to fathom that such a mainstream, Hot Topic-catering, dubiously written and acted vampire series has attracted a soundtrack full of credible, indie-leaning bands.

It's surprising that Hayley's name alone is enough to muster up any significant attention on Alternative radio for a mainstream pop-rap song she sings the hook on.

Not one of my favorites from the album, but the album is really solid, so that doesn't mean much.

Bad Company needs to write a song called "Five Finger Death Punch." Actually, they shouldn't, because that would just be stupid.

I remember this song from their show a couple months ago, upon hearing it.
No sir, I don't like it.

This is such a Muse song title it's practically self-parody.

I don't get it. There's no full-length out or even mentioned, the band seemingly sprang up overnight, the song is extremely mediocre, and it's in the Top 30 in two weeks. Bull. Sh**.

This album cover makes their debut cover look like gold, which was basically a picture of someone's ass. I still think this album will do similiar to Hinder's sophomore effort. Lead single hits the top 5, followed by a few sappy ballads and cock rock flops. This album cover is at least a little more classy. I agree with your prediction of the album's performance, though.

^Is it number one on your personal chart yet? You can't chart a song that you haven't even heard yet. Silly PHOBIA. Nor if you've only heard a mere 30 seconds of it. ;) Though with a title and 30 seconds of it out there, it's only a matter of time before the full song leaks.

Duff Beer Chairman: Our customers enjoy Duff for its robust taste, not its alcoholic content. I predict our new alcohol-free beer, Duff Zero, will sell even better than our previous products.
[2 hours later, unveiling of Duff Zero:] Duff Beer Chairman: Ohh yeah! That's good Duff Zero!
[8 minutes later, hanging an out-of-business sign on the Duff brewery's gate:] Duff Beer Chairman: Well, that's the end of me.

I can't think of a recent song that's been more impossible to remember as soon as it's over. Just saw these guys two nights ago and even remembered the chorus while they were on the first verse. I thought this might be the time that finally implanted the song in my brain for good.
Nope.

^ Thanks.
I'm curious to hear what Ed has to say for himself. That's pretty awful that he'd screw over his best friends since middle school like that after all those years.

Haha, I bought B.o.B.'s album that first week! And I'm sure I'm happier with it than I would be with a new Bullet for My Valentine album. AltPress pretty much nailed why I can't fully get into them in their 3-star review of the new record: "Three albums deep, it's become pretty clear what to expect from Bullet for My Valentine...clichéd lyrics, that creepy, dead-girlfriend aesthetic that pervades so much of latter-day emo, and stadium-sized power ballads." "Nothing from Fever drastically deviates from the blueprint." I left out all the good things said that actually made it a decent review, but I'm just saying that a new BFMV album (especially since I only burned off Scream Aim Fire) is not something worth my money. Worth checking out? I'll absolutely stream it at some point, yes.

In before hot Outkast remake It's amusing that by beating somebody to the punch, you effectively pulled the trigger, yourself. Nice.

I wonder how well "I Cut Like a Buffalo" could have done if it was released earlier, if not first. For my money, that's easily their best song.

This has been my favorite song for the past few weeks. I love "Panic Switch," and the album, which I bought a year ago the week it came out, was always great, but especially after "Substitution" only got so far (nationally, and for me as well), it's a neat thrill to enjoy another song off this album so much, once they made it a single. It's always odd how much songs can grow on you when you don't have to put it in all the work to hear them.

Finally, a request for Nick, can you update your program to predict the number of weeks on the chart for all those recent hits that were on the chart > 40 weeks? Thanks! I guess I don't understand the question here. What I did earlier was I looked at my manually typed up versions of the charts over the years, looking for any song that had accumulated over 40 weeks that was still in the Top 20 and followed it to its recurrent conclusion. Since the new 20/15 rule a few weeks back, so far I have been keeping track of the newly recurrent songs that would still be charting under the old 20/20 rule and inserting where they "should" be in a gray text. What info would you like?

See You On The Other Side is the best album Korn has ever made. I dare anyone to prove me wrong. Korn, Life Is Peachy, Follow the Leader, Issues, Untouchables and arguably Take a Look in the Mirror. All better. With obvious filler like "10 or a 2-Way," "Getting Off," and "For No One," plus an odd, subpar lead single like "Twisted Transistor" (with an unnecessary minute-long intro), I find that opinion to be extremely bizarre. "Tearjerker" is fantastic and all the other songs are varying shades of good, but I don't feel it's anywhere close to their best. Especially with Head's absence painfully noticeable. Regarding "Oildale," it's their best lead single since "Here to Stay." I just wish Jonathan would mature and stop cursing out of laziness. For too long it's just been detrimental to his songwriting.

This album never did seem to get the appropriate push, in my humble opinion. Its release just seemed like a very low-key affair.
Then again, their biggest commercial hit, "Falling Down," wasn't a typical song for them (and always left an odd taste in my mouth), so considering they went back to a heavier sound (and Alternative radio has consciously moved away from "active rock" fare), perhaps their time in the spotlight was the right sound at the right time to begin with.
This doesn't explain their struggle on Active Rock radio, though, so in that regard, I'm back to my dropped promotion ball stance.

It kind of sounds like [Ed] was a bit of a prick at the end his dealing with his former band "Live." Kind of a shame he's a douche who tried to screw his former band members financially. Live plus singer from Candlebox's album (whatever they're called again). The other Live members have said they're never going to work with [Ed] again. I personally think that Ed is getting a raw deal with the break-up. The other three band members took their complaints to the net in a very immature move. They basically told one side of a story, with Ed not wanting to stoop to their level and start an internet war. I'm completely in the dark about everything relating to this situation. Could someone enlighten me, please?
