"Change" was a huge Top 5 for them. "Minerva" made the Top 10, at least. While "Hole in the Earth" only made the Top 20, I just feel like this may very well be the right song at the right time for them to return to the Top 5 at least. And considering how little it seems to take to make the Top 5 these days...

I formulated a reply to this last night, but it looks like I went on my merry way after previewing it and didn't manage to actually post the reply. Boo. :( I don't know about that. Does "Something In Your Mouth" or "Animals" get nominees? Both are better than "This Afternoon." Hell, I even prefer the loathsome "Figured You Out" over this. ^"Rockstar" surely has to get a mention. "Rockstar" just might be my favorite Nickelback song. It's not them and it just doesn't seem right. This. It sounds like a very calculated, Mutt Lange-produced country song. And that's not Nickelback, plain and simple. Even if they personally live the lyrics, it doesn't come across as sincere at all. It just sounds like it was written with the sole intention of becoming a bar sing-along anthem. They even put in the bar background ambience for you.

I'm pretty sure Iyaz's debut album is coming out that day. Not sure yet if "Solo" will keep the fire burning as hot as "Replay" by that point, but if so, then he might be competition. Iyaz comes out on March 30 It must've recently gotten bumped up, then. Because when Ryan Seacrest interviewed him on last weekend's AT40 (read: re-aired an abbreviated version of a recent "On-Air with Ryan Seacrest" interview), Iyaz said it was coming out April 27. Perhaps the label has already seen or forecasted that "Solo" isn't (and won't be) burning up the charts in similar fashion to "Replay," and since the album's already in the can, they just want to push it out the door as soon as possible now, before "Replay" dies off anymore and the public grasps that "Solo" will underperform. That's my outsider's take on it, anyway. Hole's new album will be out that day, wonder how much competition that'll be. I'd say 2010 Bullet for My Valentine sales easily mop the floor with 2010 Hole (read: Courtney Love) sales. You (and she!) know damn well that if she put "Skinny Little B!tch" out under her own name, like America's Sweetheart, it would be struggling right now, if even charting in the first place.

My station just premiered this 2 minutes ago, actually. I'd be surprised if it didn't chart by the end of the week. And with an instantly more memorable chorus than "Rocket Skates" (plus being the first official single and all), I'd be surprised if this didn't ultimately find its way to #1 on either chart, with such a dearth of good songs by established bands that stations can really rally around right now.

Did Resistance ever get released to CHR/Pop? Not yet, it hasn't. It's still fairly new to Alternative radio...

It's a leak, so the sound quality is sub-par, but still this is very cool. Based on 1 listen and 5-10 listens to "Rocket Skates," I still prefer RS, though.

I would love to see Fever debut at #1, but I wonder what else is coming out that day. I'm pretty sure Iyaz's debut album is coming out that day. Not sure yet if "Solo" will keep the fire burning as hot as "Replay" by that point, but if so, then he might be competition.

I'm not one to rag on them, as I usually give the band a free pass, but this is pretty much the worst Nickelback song ever made.

Bought Plastic Beach today, only so I could get the first week sale, as I won't have ample time to play it until the middle of next week, probably. One thing I will say is that it pisses me off that after 2 jewel-case albums, the new one comes in gatefold cardboard, only the spine is as thick as a fucking digipak, so the package is basically a thin triangle with nothing to fill up the space they allotted for, thereby causing adjacent CDs on the shelf to slant.
Also, while I'm ranting about packaging, I want to know the bastard responsible for putting the sixth and last Johnny Cash American Recordings album in a goddamn digipak when the first 5 were all jewel cases. Thanks for throwing off the uniform packaging, jerk.

Love these guys. Guy's voice is kinda interesting though, can only take it in small doses. Love these guys. I might check this out. So many mixed messages that I have no idea how you actually feel. Wow.

Wow, this songs sounds like it's going to be awesome. Chorus in 5/8 time. How rock & roll is that for ya! I heard 6/8 when it faded in and then 11/8 in the chorus. (Or 6/8 + 5/8.) I thought I also heard a bit of 3/8 toward the end of the clip...could be wrong about that, though.

I can't imagine this having even a thread of the integrity that Garbage's song has, though I'll wait with my insult(s) until I hear the song.

I can't listen to the song from here, and in the long run, I'd probably prefer for the song to be great, but I tell ya, I laughed so hard watching this Krusty Klip today. :). I can't believe the clip I was thinking of was actually available on YouTube. I only wish it had been sandwiched between Krusty's setup and his reaction, but thank god his reaction was available as an isolated sound file. You don't see the cigarette he was smoking when the camera cuts back to him, but you at least hear his voice instead of me typing it out.

If you wanna get some sleep, or go for a walk, or call that really hot girl from work but you've never had the guts to ask out, then by all means...do that instead and just hook us up when you get the chance. I love this.

Goddammit, that was fantastic. It helped the song grow on me a lot, too. Such a good band! I can't wait 'til they tour again.

Although rock music is still my genre of preference, it's getting extremely difficult for a "new" band to consistently impress me with the standard guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Especially after being into rock music for the past 20 years, unless you're substantially incorporating a keyboard and electronics into your sound, or impress me with an amazing melody or arrangement, it's almost like I've heard it all at this point. If you're just gonna use the basic instrumentation, unless you rely heavily on effects pedals, you'd better be stepping your game up this late in "rock & roll" history.

Eh. It was a joke saying you're probably still screwing her. xD Oh! No, not at all. That's the last thing on my mind regarding my relationship with her as it stands. That is so not what either of us need from each other right now.

Had to go to page 9 to find this.
Despite the fact that it now pisses me off each week this song doesn't fall recurrent, I'm happy to announce "Panic Switch" has now spent a full calendar year on the Alternative Top 50. Here's to a song good enough to actually deserve this feat.

I was going to call you out on this last weekend, but I'll do it this weekend instead, since it's only +11 now and still stuck at #26, where it was last week, with a mere +19 bullet. Wake me up when it's in the Top 20. Well, when I made that comment, It had a 50+ bullet. Looking on a more positive side... It's up to #23 on Billboard. Looks like you jinxed it, then. ;) Even though I don't follow Billboard, that's great that there's a positive 3-spot difference between the charts. Anyone still believe this can make Top 20? At this point, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

They had one album which I thought was ok, Dark Light. Other than that, I don't think they're my coup of tea, too commercial. :) Which is interesting, because Dark Light is their most commercial album. Though, I guess the release of Screamworks now makes that arguable.

So it does reach the Top 30. Interesting. Yeah, but it's only a +3 bullet.

The exclamation point on the single cover is almost as unintentionally funny as their t-shirt from the '90s that said "Whatever!" on the back of it.
