It's an alright song, but as usual for OK Go, it has a pretty tremendous music video :o I'd read about it for awhile, but this was the first time I actually watched it. Oh my God! :o Your move, The Bravery. (Though I do like "An Honest Mistake" a million times more than this song.) Unfortunately, per usual, their bitchin' music videos don't make me like their mediocre songs any more. And another thing: Why did they waste this video concept on "This Too Shall Pass" when the song already had a rad marching band video? ???

This song doesn't have the uniqueness of "Eyesore" and feels more like an old Evans Blue song or something. It's not bad, but I'm not impressed either. This.

I can't believe I like this. It's not that I'm shocked by how much I like this, because this may or may not actually hit my personal chart, but more that I was left with a clearly favorable first impression of an acoustic-driven, indie-leaning, pretentiously dressed band I'd never heard before.
Though I didn't think about it until after the song was over, I wonder if it's because the chorus melody (chord progression?) vaguely reminds me of the pre-chorus melody in Meat Loaf's "Rock & Roll Dreams Come Through," so it had a faint bit of familiarity to it built in to help me remember the song better.
P.S. Even if this makes the Top 10, my Alt station won't be touching this with a ten foot pole.

But I'm sure Between the Lines will keep this out of the top. I wouldn't be so sure. I wouldn't be surprised if it ultimately edges out "Between the Lines" and has more longevity up there.

On a side note, I posted here a few months ago that I never heard 1901 on my alt station even if it was among the top 5 songs and now I hear it quite often haha. I think I even heard Lisztomania once. Meanwhile, I have yet to hear "1901" or "Lisztomania" on my Alt station, outside of Out of Order. Yet, they added Neon Trees' "Animal" into overnight rotation last month. (Meanwhile, Temper Trap's "Sweet Disposition" remains untouched, as does Paramore's "Brick by Boring Brick.")

I bought the first album (used) and liked it fine. Are Mudvayne better? Of course. But I'm interested in hearing new Hellyeah.

I got cable TV right about the time "Plush" blew up. And of course it crossed over to Pop radio and was a Top 15 there. I was aware of "Sex Type Thing" before that, but I never actually heard it until after "Wicked Garden" and "Creep" had already come out.

Speaking of Crisco Twister, MTV News was on hand to capture a game consisting of members of Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins (pre-Siamese Dream!). Just saw this last month.
Krist was feeling no pain. :)

It's like the weird kid no one wanted to play with but they would chase the ball down the street for you when it got away, so eventually you just let them be your friend. You're so weird.

It's been what, 10 years since their last song? ??? Since that song you heard, maybe. They average a new studio album every frickin' year! That's preposterous that you have such a vivid memory of the first time you heard them, but have been completely ignorant of all the music they've been churning out ever since. They're capable of making the occasional decent tune, but those have been rare since "Dog's Life" and "Bump" in 1999. Surprised that Curtis took to this so easily, as I find it be dumb, calculated for radio play, and way too repetitive. At least the lyrics never get too trashy and vile. It might as well not even have any lyrics, though, because "I like them party girls" is pretty much all they're really saying the whole time.

For what it's worth, Coheed and Cambria just won MTV News' March Madness "Band Bracketology," which was rock and indie-based, and matches were determined by fan voting. Yet, Alternative radio (save for my station, thank goodness) is mostly ignoring their brand new single.

It's done by Storm Thorgerson, who - aside from doing the covers for Black Holes and Revelations and Absolution for Muse - has also done a couple Cranberries covers. Oh huh! Let me guess: Bury the Hatchet & Wake Up and Smell the Coffee.

Saw them tonight, actually. Not impressed. Their own songs had no hooks and all blurred together except "Bury Me Alive," which I've heard several times, and the title track to their upcoming album, which was last and more epic than the other songs. They had the nerve to cover Madonna's "Like a Prayer," and I wanted to projectile vomit on them, it was so awful and blasphemous. If I was an asshole I would've brought a sign that said "Where's Amy?" and flipped them off during "Like a Prayer." But I'm not.

1. Hit the Lights - "More than a Feeling" 2. VersaEmerge - "Paint It Black" 3. The Almost - "Free Fallin'" 4. Mayday Parade - "We Are the Champions" 5. The Summer Set - "Rock 'n Roll All Nite" 6. We the Kings - "Caught Up in You" 7. A Skylit Drive - "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" 8. I See Stars - "Your Love" 9. Pierce the Veil - "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" 10. Forever the Sickest Kids - "Crazy Train" 11. The Maine - "Pour Some Sugar on Me" 12. Envy on the Coast - "All Along the Watchtower" 13. Every Avenue - "Take Me Home Tonight" 14. Never Shout Never - "Bohemian Rhapsody" 15. Blessthefall - "Dream On" I mean for god's sake, the only reason I've even heard of Hit the Lights, VersaEmerge, The Summer Set, Envy on the Coast, Every Avenue & Never Shout Never is because I subscribe to Alternative Press. I vaguely know what Never Shout Never sounds like, but I haven't heard a full song of his. (Frankly it sounds like they'd all be awful.) I mean, these all might as well be the same band, they matter that little in the grand scheme of relevant music.

Most importantly, "Break" is now in recurrent position. One down, one to go (excluding "Savior"). "I'm Your Daddy" and/or "The Good Life" need to pick up spins to push two songs to recurrent. Frankly, I've never gotten sick of "Panic Switch," even after all this time. I guess it's left alone or I leave it alone just long enough so that I always enjoy whenever it comes on or whenever I choose to play it. And if it's up to "I'm Your Daddy" and/or "The Good Life" to knock it out of the Top 20, I'd just as soon "Panic Switch" stays in there and shuts both songs out for good.

"Beautiful Thieves"'s swift death and this song (pretty much the best C&C song I've ever heard) struggling are the two most recent underperforming songs that have me seeing red in regards to the Alternative chart. (Don't wanna overuse that Punknews line of frustration. ;))

Wow, based on that live clip...that's the best Korn song that I've heard in ten years. I'm very impressed. It sounds like a b-side from Take a Look in the Mirror, which was also "going back to their roots." Hopefully the studio version will punch it up some, but subpar songwriting can only be polished so much. Nevertheless, hopefully this new album will have more replay value than their last two. Curious to see how close they can get to their "old sound" with Head and David still gone from the fold. And OK, so Oildale is a suburb of Bakersfield. That doesn't excuse the fact that it's still a ponderous name for a song, let alone the lead single from the new Korn album. I'm trying not to be too hard on this song already, but I think I kinda blew it.

Man, I'm surprised Framing Hanley's getting a remake so soon. Saving Abel was interviewed on my local station this afternoon and interestingly, they said they ran into Framing Hanley a little bit ago on the road and learned that they had a song called "You Stupid Girl" coming out sooner than their own song with the very similar name. Due to this, they added the "(Only in Hollywood)" subtitle.

And Killswitch sorta opened the door for metalcore top 10s with their cover of "Holy Diver". If their latest album wasn't so damn mediocre, they would have opened the door for themselves. This. It would appear that the label should've used some of the money spent on the "Starting Over" video on promoting the song and the album instead. It's a shame that my Alt station only played it, like, once, when they still bust out "The End of Heartache," "My Curse," and "Holy Diver" from time to time. Even "My Last Serenade" once in a blue moon.

In other news, The Almost are set to feature on the new ''Pop Goes Classic Rock'' album, out later this month. They'll be covering Tom Petty's ''Free Fallin', sounds excellent from the clips I've heard. You mean Punk Goes Classic Rock. And since it might as well be titled Fly By Night Scene Bands Whose Average Listener Is 14 Years Old Go Classic Rock, all these cover versions will be unlistenable to anyone over 25 and may induce vomiting and bleeding from the ears.

Ironically, it looks like our original prank (the oldies board, which lasted for all of 2 hours) impacted this forum more than the hacking did. I know, right! I saw the oldies banner for a couple of hours, along with a few topic names changed to topics about classic oldies, which was annoying because it was a chore to figure out which song it really was. Then after a couple hours, all that stuff went away (except on the Pop forums, evidently) and everything looked back to normal. I thought, "Cool. The annoying oldies titles are over with. I guess we're gonna be rolling with more than one theme today. :) Who's Garyn Fett?" I still think it's hilarious that the irrelevant Smooth Jazz forum (sorry, but it pretty much is) was wiped clean of all its topics. :) Why did this hacker specifically pick us? I mean, from what I assumed, Pulse is a relatively quiet little forum. It was probably some disgruntled, obnoxious, drama queen former user who'd been banned and wanted to take his revenge. Or as Steve (crash46) put it to me when I scoffed at how someone could be so petty as to bother hacking a chart-obsessed music message board: "I know, but some of those kids, they get a one-week ban from Pulse and their whole world falls apart. One of 'em probably spent that week learning how to hack a board." I thought it was all a big joke at first. The ultimate April Fool's prank, pulled by some of the mods, just trying to get a doomsday, hysterical reaction from the drama queens for a good laugh, the prolonging of which beyond April 1st would only make it more believable. Now I know that's just not the case.

The pretty obvious reason is that this place is fucked. "My friend came from far away From New Orleans into the East Bay He said 'This is a mecca.' I said 'This ain't no mecca, man. This place is fucked.'" - Rancid (Journey to the End of the East Bay) Everything seems about normal to me, actually. I didn't even notice anything was wrong, I just assumed the random thread titles in the CHR board were a carryover from April fools. The CHR board may be in disarray, but that's not unusual. And like pen said, the majority of us here are respectful and don't need very much moderation. This... The only difference in here is that we'll have more time to snipe at all the stream teamers. This... Pop forum is all :o and Pulse Forum is all >:( and meanwhile we're all . ...And this.

I think radio listeners are mostly underwhelmed by TCV and the success of "New Fang" was mostly due to the curiosity factor of what a supergroup of Grohl, Jones, and Homme sounded like. They may very well be one-hit wonders.
Then again, maybe it's far too soon to determine such a thing.

Yeah, much as I objectively prefer "Savior" over "Mountain Man," I'm all for "Mountain Man" staying at #1 if it means keeping "Savior" from getting #1 after 3/4 of a fucking year.
And while it's mostly doing so well due to the brand name, I'd obviously take "Between the Lines" at #1 over both of them.
