SuBo should've released on thanksgiving week like last time. She knows better than that.

For months and months I'm reading that Boyle's gonna have an explosive debut and these are the numbers she brings?! for now, Taylor won by a knock out! The talks of pre orders and everything... such a letdown... great for Cudi though. THANK YOU!

I hope SuGod snatches Taytan's wig... and with those numbers, none will be competition for Rihsus next week. What else has potential to block her from the top spot? Kid Rock Norah Jones Bruce Sprinsteen And a couple of country artist are supposed to release right. It would be nice for Riri to take it...finally. Bruce and Kid (oh, that is why he made those comments about Steven Tyler) are the biggest threats. Norah hasn't really been pushing numbers of late.

I think Rihanna has a good chance if she goes over 220k. Taylor will not drop much-stays around 200k i would think. SuBo is a dark horse. Lets see how she does first week. Kid Rock,Norah Jones, Bruce B- i can`t see them taking the top spot.

I never understood hating artists or wanting certain artists to disappear that aren't really present. I don't think it's 'hating', so much as simply acknowledging that the material on her albums is god-awful and Susan Boyle, in particular, is a perfect representation of everything currently wrong with the music industry. There's no need for an 'artist' like her now. She's pointless.

Impressed with Kid Cudi's numbers. I didn't see that coming as he has no hit or song on the radio and has had a rash of bad press with his antics. Sort of underwhelmed with Taylor's 2nd week and Subo's first week. I e xpected over 300k for both. Regarding Rihanna, she has to contend with Rascal Flatts. I don't thin Groban or Urban will be contenders although they should sell well. Subo won't be a contender for next week. Taylor's boost from the CMA will affect this week's numbers and not sure about her promo for next week. Next week will be interesting and should shed light on whether Rihanna truly is a singles artist. taylors 2nd week was over 300k. and that clay aiken/susan comparison was perfect, i never thought of it like that before

Susan only sold 30k on the first of the midweeks in the UK, so that should at most be just slightly over 100k for the week.

Rihanna 220k? Seriously? The biggest sales week of her career? No chance.

She is way too different from ANYTHING else that is popular or that sells to represent the industry, in my opinion. And I agree, wishing Boyle would go away is rediculous. It's not like she's all over the radio or tv. If she bothers you that much, it sounds like it's a personal problem. I'm not even a Suan fan, nor have I bought either of her CDs.

It's still too close to call for #1 next week as the impact of last night's CMA Awards has yet to be seen in the physical numbers. Look for an update tomorrow as a clearer picture begins to develop. Here's how next week's HITS Top 50 Album Sales chart looks based on midweek sales reports: *Susan Boyle (Columbia) 250-275k Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 225-250k *Kid Cudi (Universal Motown) 180-200k *Now 36 (Capitol/EMI) 80-85k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 75-80k *Bon Jovi (Island/IDJ) 70-75k *Reba McEntire (Valory) 60-65k Sugarland (Mercury Nashville) 45-50k Mariah Carey (Island/IDJ) 35-40k Lil Wayne (Cash Money/Universal Motown) 35-40k *Cee Lo Green (New Elektra) 30-35k Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 30-35k Kings of Leon (RCA/RMG) 30-35k Rod Stewart (J/RMG) 24-27k Brad Paisley (Arista Nashville) 24-27k *Alter Bridge (ABR/EMI) 24-27k *Underoath (Solid State) 24-27k Kenny Chesney (BNA) 24-27k *Debuts (11/11p) www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi

About a 33% drop for Mariah, not bad!
This could be the first time in 20 weeks that Eminem falls off the top 10.

>> Island/IDJ’s Bon Jovi will score 70-75lk with their Greatest Hits—The Ultimate Collection package.
On par with what Madonna's "Celebration" collection did a year ago (a fellow 80s artist with a huge touring business).

I fail to see how anyone could be disappointed with those Boyle numbers. That's the biggest opening for a Holiday album of the Soundscan era and she should certainly pass the 2 million mark before New Years.
Andrea Bocelli opened with 149k last November and ended the year with 2.1 million.

Not that anyone expects Mimi's album to perform like Bocelli's did, but as an FYI and a comparison (since Bocelli's album also had been released in the first week of November): Bocelli's album dropped 8% in its second week, to 136,125.
Hopefully SuBo ends up on the high end of the projection (better for the industry). of course, the album more than likely will have no trouble clearing 1 million+ through year's end, anyhow.

Yep, Glad for Cudi. That will have a big time 2nd week drop i fear though. It probably won't sell more total then his debut has. Great numbers though. Hope i'm wrong on this. He is just as talented as Drake and B.o.B imo.

Will be interesting to see how SuBo's album holds up in week 2. Here are the second-week showings of of the top-selling holiday albums from the past few years. Groban's album again was the top seller of 2008- not sure what the best-selling new holiday title from that year was, off-hand.
Andrea Bocelli, My Christmas (released Nov. 2, 2009): 136,125 (-8%) Josh Groban, Noel (released Oct. 9, 2007): 63,976 (increased sales by 25 units) Sarah McLachlan, Wintersong (released Oct. 17, 2006): 17,026 (-4%)

Tsk Tsk.J/K. ;) I am hoping for a gold certified album...it only needs to sell close to 500k and eventually platinum over the years.
