The Gift is in Target's circular this week for $7.99, so the album could be in contention to hold the top spot.

If these numbers hold, the gap between Taylor and Eminem drops to 1.3 million.

So, Susan scores the biggest first week sales for a Holiday album. The first female artist to hit #1 with a Holiday album and the second-biggest sales week for a female artist this year. what did tayor sell 2nd week? wasnt around that range. with the other numbers susan might get the 3rd highest this year

SuBo's first-week sales in the USA held up better than in the UK, percentage wise, compared to the debut album. Using 321K as a guide, the percentage drop is around 54.5%. In the UK, the percentage drop was 75%. remember what people have been saying. xmas albums do much better in the US than the UK

I'm so happy for Susan. A lot of people here hate on her for no damn reason. I'm waiting until Amazon lowers the digital album to $3.99 or at LEAST $7.99. I may take advantage of the Target promotion though. :)

How do Loretta's number's compare to the opening week of Van Lear Rose?
I know it's an apples to oranges comparison, but Loretta is rarely on the charts anymore...

If these numbers hold, the gap between Taylor and Eminem drops to 1.3 million. Eminem has it locked. if the difference really is of 1.3 million, then he doesn't. I mean, Taylor has what, six weeks? she really has a chance of beating him, which I didn't think was likely, until now.

Just because you think it will happen does not mean it's locked. There are 7 weeks left in 2010. Exactly, Big Machine will likely push for a price drop of 'Speak Now' during the Black Friday sales to 6.99-7.99 at the majour music outlets like Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc. If so, expect 300k+ weeks then and also during the last few weeks before Christmas as this album is a good, cheap parents' stocking stuffer for their kiddies. I can see this record surpassing Eminem's if these scenarios play out...

There has been a lot of predictions for next week but not many (if anyone) mentioned that Susan Boyle might keep the top. Holiday albums closer to Thanksgiving don't decrease much, if much at all, in immediate weeks. I'm calling that she says at the top next week as well.

Yah, pnob- I'm one of those who commented on holiday albums faring better in the USA compared to the UK. :)
musicrocks, I speculated that The Gift could be in contention for the top spot- wouldn't surprise me.

Wow if you think it will have multiple 300K weeks in these last 7.

Wow if you think it will have multiple 300K weeks in these last 7. It's not a given, but it's not impossible. Look at Fearless' chart run when it was first released: 592,304 copies 217,209 copies 267,371 copies (Black Friday weekend) 193,495 copies 248,841 copies 330,403 copies 262,399 copies In the 6 weeks leading up to the holidays, Fearless sold 1.52 million copies. Sales do increase during the holidays you know as you keep pointing out in reference to Eminem. However, more important in this argument is the fact that Eminem is re-releasing his album before Christmas (is that correct? was this confirmed?). If that's true, then it does look like it will be Eminem. If he doesn't re-release, it may be too early to call.

That's just a rumor. Nothing official about a re-release. I hope it's true for the simple fact i want more music. But i have seen nothing that makes me think there will be. A lot of Eminem leaks have happened recently though. So who knows.
