If other artists were played on Country along with other formats, they'd sell the same. Most artists stay in one genre, and their sales reflect that. Taylor stretches into multiple formats and that's also reflected in her sales. I would say her label takes full advantage of her popularity and diversity. It's not as much of an embarrassment to other artists when it's put like that. Other artists are specific to one genre which obviously generates lower sales.

well according to HDD, next week, both Kanye and Nikki Minaj could both debut over 400K.

That's low for Kanye. High for Nicki.

400k isn't really low for anyone, even Kanye regardless of how much he has sold in the past.

If other artists were played on Country along with other formats, they'd sell the same. Yeah, I don't imagine it would be that simple actually. Taylor's level of success can be attributed to much more than multi-format support (though, clearly, that's a factor). Any artist experiencing success on country radio and other formats will sell the exact amount Taylor is selling is a bit of a naive statement.

400k is still amazing for Kanye. He has no hit single.
I don't expect Nicki to debut that high although I wouldn't be too surprised.

So far critics are worshipping Kanye's new album. MC has so far 7 A+'s & 10 A-'s. Out of 17 reviews.
I may not like him, but I smell a fourth Album of the Year nom.

Really great projected sales for Kanye West and Nicki Minaj, I'm looking forward to see two album sell 400k on a single week. Maybe Susan Boyle will hold that 300K number as well. I just want to see healthier sales :)

No hit single though will make it a short run at the top part of the chart though Well he's bound to get a hit with AOTL and he has other selections on there so he'll be fine. It's just no solid hit preceding the album release.

Still don't think a rap artist outside of Outkast will win that. Recovery will be nominated this year, MBDTF next year. As much as i would like either to win i don't think either will. Too much politics. Anyway i will be curious what Boyle does next week along with those two.

I haven't heard Kanye's album, but I don't think he has too much to worry about. His last album I really liked, but it seemed like it alienated some fans? Or so it seemed on the internet at least. Then Power didn't seem to be too well received either, even though I loved that as well. haha My guess is his "disappointing" numbers is because his last album didn't catch on like his others did, and his main lead single didn't either. I guess it doesn't really matter though. He's established himself enough. If he has hits, his numbers will obviously be better. However, he obviously doesn't seem to need a massive smash to even move 400k. So, I say, well done.

Any artist experiencing success on country radio and other formats will sell the exact amount Taylor is selling is a bit of a naive statement. Of course not, but Taylor wouldn't be the only one doing it. Had Lady A continued it's crossover success after "Need You Now" the single, I think they'd be closer to 4, or even 5 million. They just didn't have the material for the crossover to continue. Throughout history, artists that crossed over from Country to Pop saw much bigger sales than any uni-genre artist. Examples of this include; Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, and Taylor Swift. Basically, I'm saying the more exposure, the higher sales. They go hand in hand. Taylor reaches out to a wide audience generating her immense popularity and success, but it all started when she had Country radio stations playing her music simultaneously with Pop and A/C stations. The more formats, the more popular, the higher sales. Of course this isn't the only reason why these artists sell albums, particularly Taylor, but I think it's definitely the biggest reason.

Her cross-format success is a big reason for her success, but not the only one. I also think she is filling a hole in the industry right now, as well as having the right image/personality, as well as the music, and also just clicking. Sometimes artists just don't sell THAT well even with multi-format success, promotion, carefully plotted images and personalities, etc. There is always this little bit of wiggle room for who becomes a star that cannot be boiled down to some sort of concrete black and white formula.
400K plus would be completely amazing for Nicki and, honestly, blow most females out of the water with debuts this year (except for ones named Taylor). All the more impressive because she hasn't entirely carved out her own solo powers yet with radio success. I won't be too optimistic though since this is just an early preview. I think even if you half the prediction it would still be an impressive total for her though.
