It'll be funny if Boyle has many consecutive weeks over 300k, just like she had them over 500k last year. haha

Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 150-160k Sugarland (Mercury Nashville) 55-60k
Probably the largest gap ever outside Top 5..

I'm kinda afraid for Taylor. Her numbers are good, but isn't her week to week drop is a bit high? I'm afraid that at this rate she'd sell less than she should... Aside from the fact that she's currently in a transitional period ("Mine" is no longer in heavy rotation on either of her core formats and "Back To December" has yet to reach any level that would reflect in album sales), her first single didn't really connect with audiences as well as some of her releases from previous efforts (if downloads are any indication). All things considered, I was stunned she opened as big as she did. Now, it's no surprise to see the album declining as the hype has worn off and there is nothing to stabilize sales. However, with Black Friday fast approaching and a Thanksgiving Day special in the works, she should start seeing increases again soon enough. Regardless, I wouldn't be "afraid" for an album that's very likely to sell more than 90% of all albums released this year (and 90% more than those released next year as well). Hell, three million is a foregone conclusion at this point.

Or else the second single would be out already. She is doing still quite good considering she has not even released to pop yet. "Mine" was weak to begin with, and it does not help at all at this point. I think Eminem had "Not Afraid" "Love The way You Lie" smashing 3-4 weeks after the release of the album. This is what helped him to stabilize that well. Correct me if i am wrong.

A sign that Idol is on its way out Yeah.. it needs to end before it drops massively in ratings. End on a good note. Its still getting great ratings, but the show as a whole has lost its relevancy. Its only hope is getting someone on the show who can be the next Kelly Clarkson/Carrie Underwood.

The show lost its relevancy when they decided to pass on people with actual singing talent and focus on people with "stories". It was always a joke to me when you could totally tell from the first four or five audition episodes who would make it to the final 12. As soon as they started showing "background stories" and filming shorts at their house, you knew they were already building a following for them. The rest of the few who actually made it through on votes for singing talent and not producer help had an unfair disadvantage of not having a built-in following already, which is usually why they never made it to the final 6.

"f**k is Cudi? Not even 50k?"
Hey for someone without a hit, that's good esp considering there are artists with MAJOR hits who can't hit 50k their first week.
I just hope that the album released this year that has the most US sales ultimately is Speak Now.

@ Norah Jones. Didn't this girl sell 10 million once? This isn't a proper album. It's a collection of previously available collaborations.

^All of the material was previously commercially released? Then those numbers are not surprising at all.

Taylor will be okay in the long run althrough. She has a load of promotional appearances Thanksgiving Week including Leno and Her Thanksgiving Special. BTD is just getting started on Radio.I see the album selling soild through the end of the year.It will end up with decent sales.

It's all so calculated now. That dreaded guy didn't have a short story and he made it to final 5, but he never did anything beyond the show. It's almost like you have to be attractive and have a sob story to make it. And you have to be attractive now, you can't be a Clay or Kimberly Locke anymore, unfortunately. :(

Are people really worried about Taylor Swift's album sales? The girl is pushing 150k in her 4th week, how is that not amazing? Just because she might not be the top year end seller? Get it together g0rls.

Rihanna's sales and album releases are just fine. She is a hit maker and her label loves her for it.

It'll be interesting seeing who gets #1 on country this week. Keith and the Flatts seem to be pretty close.

^I'd love to see Urban take it. Flatts drives me nuts. Well yes, I agree. Keith's albums have all been consistantly strong throughout his career. I haven't really enjoyed a Rascal Flatts album from top to bottom since Melt.

How so? Her last album was the biggest-selling albums in the last few years- and her new album just came out, and it's the holiday season, so her holiday title is going to sell, too. That's not "embarrassing" others; the girl's just at her commercial zenith, so no surprise.

That's not "embarrassing" others; the girl's just at her commercial zenith, so no surprise. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Speak Now keeps selling well (which is very likely, could probably get to 4-5 million), Taylor will have 3 of the 5 best-selling albums released in 5 years, no? I'd say that's embarassing everyone else. Who else has been able to pull a feat like that? Add in the fact that her debut album released 4 years ago is still going strong on the charts and Fearless is going even stronger. Almost none of her contemporaries come close to that kind of longevity.
