POST-HOLIDAY ONE DAYS: Sony Music's domination of the Top 5 comes to an end next week as holiday titles and new releases drop from the chart like a fat man sliding down a chimney. From very, very early and limited numbers, it appears that Taylor Swift and Eminem, as a result of sale pricing and circular placement, will battle it out for the #1 spot on next week's chart, according to one-day sales reports from those retailers who've shoveled out from all the snow. No estimates of actual totals yet, but we'll get those to you as soon as the Eastern seaboard begins to thaw. From early indications. though, it appears that UMGD may have the entire Top 5 with Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West rounding out slots #3-5. Spoilers, however, in the form of Bruno Mars and Katy Perry, are lurking just below. Stay tuned as more intelligence, and we use that term loosely, is gathered by our crack staff. Someone's gonna be active this week. Haha. :) If this or a variation of the top 10 (or 7 I guess), that would be really cool. I hope either Eminem or Taylor Swift can sell over 100,000.

Stop that crappy talk and focus on the topic! No wonder slicknickshady comes here and defends his favorite artist. I mean at first i was ignoring it, but now, people are starting to piss me off. I'm happy as long as they sell over 100k, don't care who gets number one because they both are doing good. P.S I told you all that after the holidays we're gonna see if Taylor is THAT consistent or now...Just Sayin...

Really smart of Em's label to sale price the album right after Christmas. They'll reap the benefits for sure.
Hope Taylor can get it though.

Wow, another big rebound for Em.
Last time he topped the BB200 was September, no?

Why is Rihanna, Kayne top 5? Did they also lower prices?

Plus, holiday titles this week really fall, allowing other titles with lesser drops to advance up the chart.

2 of my favs "fighting" it out for nr1! :)
I really wish Taylors label would drop the price a bit for "Speak Now". It is highest priced album fcking everywhere (digitally, not sure about Target and etc). Being past holidays now it would make no sense to keep it that high. Hardcore fans obviously did not care and 95% of them already have the album. Ordinary Jack/Mary looking for some new music will be scared away with that price imo. Or greed of retailers? Not sure how it works...
i have a feeling whoever gets nr1 will be under 100k this year.

Why is Rihanna, Kayne top 5? Did they also lower prices? FYI...When Em's album came out, it was for about 15 bucks. But when Kanye's came out it was for 4 bucks at Amazon. And its for 12 dollars at the moment and Em's album is for 10 dollars, that's not a big difference! Kanye's album was sort of cheap for the most time.

Taylor and Eminem just do not know how to stop selling albums... This will seriously slow down Taylor's quest to surpass "Recovery's" sales.
Also, Recovery could eventually pass "I Dreamed a Dream" to become the biggest-selling album released since "Fearless."

Add BEP, Pink, and Keri/Keyshia and then it would be a perfect top 10. Glad that Kanye actually rebounded as he needed it the most.

It only makes his opening week sales even more impressive if it was expensive. I guess the label thinks they can put a high price for it and the public will still buy it. impressive.

Would be great to see Rihanna reach a new peak of #2 sometime next month, but it looks like Eminem will have it occupied until major releases come.

Eminem! C'mon...3.3 million and 6 months in and he is fighting for #1? That's freaking impressive.
SO happy to see Kanye selling well, I hope he can stabilize w/ AOTL. 1.5m would be great.

This happens every year -- after Christmas, the albums younger people want to buy that their parents didn't buy for them do better, which is usually hip-hop/rap/pop stuff.
Still, very impressive if Eminem reclaims #1.

Go Taylor!
Nice to see Bruno and Katy back in the top 10 as well. I think they will continue to do so in January when there aren't any major releases.

*waits for slicknickshady* is slicknickshady the only fan of a male artist who treats his idol like a diva? This thread will be epic.
