Rih should take #1 in airplay in about a week I think, maybe less. She'll be #3 tomorrow though.

When I said BTW is a classic, I meant it more as a classic GaGa song.

Rihanna ** collects a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "We Found Love" (featuring Calvin Harris), while Taylor Swift ** bookends the top 10 with a record-extending debut.
"Found," the lead single from Rihanna's sixth studio album, "Talk That Talk," due Monday (Nov. 21), spends a third week at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart with 227,000 downloads sold, down 4%, according to Nielsen SoundScan. On Radio Songs, the dance track lifts 4-3 with 115 million all-format audience impressions, up 12%, according to Nielsen BDS.
Further helping set up the album's launch, second single "You Da One" debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 73 and Radio Songs at No. 28 with 38 million in first-week audience after the song was serviced to radio Friday (11). The bow on the latter list is the highest since Lady Gaga **'s "Born This Way" roared in at No. 6 the week of Feb. 26, 2011.
At the opposite end of the Hot 100's top tier, Taylor Swift debuts with "If This Was a Movie" (No. 10). On Digital Songs, the song starts at No. 3 with 162,000 downloads sold. Swift also arrives at Nos. 13 and 26 on the Hot 100 with "Ours" (148,000; her next country radio single) and "Superman" (91,000), respectively.
The tracks made their digital retail debuts Nov. 8, after previously being available only on the deluxe CD version of Swift's "Speak Now" album at Target stores. Six bonus "Speak" tracks made their arrivals digitally last week, with the Hot 100-debuting trio of tracks joined by alternate versions of "Speak" songs "Mine," "Back to December" and "Haunted," the latter of which re-enters the Hot 100 at No. 98 (24,000).
"Movie" marks Swift's Hot 100-record-extending eighth title to debut in the top 10. Lil Wayne ** ranks second with six top 10 launches. "Movie" is Swift's 10th top 10 overall and her first since "December" (No. 6) last year.
With her Hot 100 entrances, Swift continues her run of accumulating accolades. Last Wednesday (9), she was named the CMA's Entertainer of the Year, while Monday (14), Billboard reported that "Speak" single "Sparks Fly" became her fifth No. 1 on the Country Songs chart. And, she's not done yet: the 21-year-old will receive Billboard's Woman of the Year award at the 2011 Billboard Women in Music event Dec. 2.
Below Rihanna's reigning Hot 100 leader, LMFAO **'s "Sexy and I Know It" logs a second week at No. 2. The cut remains at No. 2 on Digital Songs (195,000, down 4%), while slipping 5-6 on Radio Songs, although with a 6% audience gain to 98 million.
Adele **'s former five-week No. 1 "Someone Like You" slips 2-3 on the Hot 100. The song descends 1-2 on Radio Songs (128 million all-format audience impressions, down 11%) and 3-6 on Digital Songs (143,000, down 1%).
"Someone" has received two high-profile TV tributes since last week: NBC's "Saturday Night Live" good-naturedly ribbed the song's dramatic lyrics (with even Coldplay ** unable to hold back the tears upon hearing it), while Fox's "Glee" last night blended the ballad with fellow Adele song "Rumour Has It"; the mash-up is currently the top-selling title in the iTunes Store, likely setting up the "Glee" cast's best debut and rank for any of its releases this season on next week's Hot 100.
David Guetta **'s "Without You," featuring Usher **, climbs 6-4 with the Hot 100's Digital Gainer tag (162,000, up 32%). With the boost, Guetta achieves his highest career Hot 100 placement; he had previously risen as high as No. 5 with "Sexy Chick," featuring Akon **, last year.
Rounding out the Hot 100's top five, former four-week No. 1 "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5 ** featuring Christina Aguilera ** drops 4-5. Gym Class Heroes **' "Stereo Hearts," featuring Maroon 5's Adam Levine, dips 5-6 on the Hot 100 and Foster the People **'s "Pumped Up Kicks" holds at No. 7.
Flo Rida **'s "Good Feeling" maintains its No. 8 Hot 100 ranking and Bruno Mars ** enters the top 10 with "It Will Rain" (12-9). The track from the "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" soundtrack climbs 10-8 on Digital Songs (130,000, up 34%) and 22-19 on Radio Songs (50 million, up 12%) to become Mars' eighth Hot 100 top 10 dating to his arrival less than two years ago as a guest on B.o.B's two-week No. 1 "Nothin' On You."

My theory as to why Rihanna's team used payola with "You Da One": she is currently on tour overseas and only has ONE DAY in the states to promote the release of the album (her work ethic is absolutely crazy). In other words, Island Def Jam has to get creative.

My theory as to why Rihanna's team used payola with "You Da One": she is currently on tour overseas and only has ONE DAY in the states to promote the release of the album (her work ethic is absolutely crazy). In other words, Island Def Jam has to get creative. That makes sense, they wanted her to have the maximum amount of A.I. from multiple songs to maximize album sales. On a different note, I've always wanted to ask something about A.I.: what is the highest A.I. ever for a song? And how much A.I. usually comes from Pop radio?

Mariah Carey's We Belong Together has the highest AI ever with 228 million I believe. The total AI for Pop is always changing though since stations are always getting added/taken off of the panel. I think for a large #1 CHR hit, the maximum airplay is around 90 million.

Thanks so much for the Digital Tracks Chart, Mike! It would be incredible to get Digital Songs one of these weeks, but I'm still really grateful for this one.
Things that stick out to me on this chart: Selena Gomez' "Love You Like a Love Song" is platinum! :O Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" has sold over 700,000 copies Florence and the Machine's "Dog Days are Over" has gotta be double-platinum by now with all versions combined Taylor Swift's "Sparks Fly" is finally gold! Bruno Mars' "Marry You" has sold almost 800,000. Could this be the record for a song that was never promoted as a single?

Week Ending Nov. 13, 2011. Songs: Taylor & KennyBy Paul Grein music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/week-ending-nov-13-2011-songs-taylor-kenny-020531158.html;_ylt=As3kS6hcpqnMVQ73T7072A8PwiUv;_ylu=X3oDMTFkYTZnZmZkBG1pdANNdXNpYyBCbG9nIEluZGV4BHBvcwMxBHNlYwNNZWRpYUJsb2dJbmRleA--;_ylg=X3oDMTFpMm9iMzh1BGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdANibG9nBHB0A3NlY3Rpb25z;_ylv=3By Paul Grein | Chart Watch – 1 hour 7 minutes ago Taylor Swift has the three highest debuting songs on this week's Hot 100. Does she have a new album coming soon? No. These are songs that were previously available only on a deluxe CD edition of her 2010 album Speak Now, available only through Target. Now the songs are available digitally. The songs are "If This Was A Movie," which debuts at #10; "Ours," which bows at #13; and "Superman," which opens at #26. "If This Was A Movie" is Swift's 10th top 10 hit. This puts her just behind Kenny Rogers as the "core country artist" with the most top 10 hits. Rogers had 11 top 10 hits, counting two 1960s hits with the First Edition. Rogers hit his peak in the late 1970s and early 1980s with such hits as "She Believes In Me" and "Lady." Swift wasn't even born until 1989. Several other artists who were embraced by country radio, but were most at home in other formats, have had 10 or more top 10 hits on the Hot 100. These artists include Elvis Presley (38), Patti Page (24), the Everly Brothers (15), Olivia Newton-John (15), Brenda Lee (12), Ray Charles (11), Eagles (10) and Linda Ronstadt (10). "If This Was A Movie" is Swift's eighth song to enter the Hot 100 inside the top 10. That's more than any other artist in history. I'm not going to make too much of this, because until 1995, it was very rare for a single to debut in the top 10. "If This Was A Movie" and "Ours" both debut in the top five on Hot Digital Songs. "If This Was A Movie" opens at #3 (162K). "Ours" opens at #5 (148K). "We Found Love" by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris holds at #1 for the third straight week. The song also returns to #1 in the U.K. This is its fourth week on top there. Only one of Rihanna's previous singles was a bigger transatlantic #1 hit. Her 2007 smash "Umbrella" (featuring Jay-Z) topped the Hot 100 for seven weeks and headed the U.K. chart for 10 weeks. "Take A Bow," "Only Girl (In The World) and "What's My Name? (featuring Drake) also hit #1 in both countries, but they didn't settle in for long stays at #1, like these other two. Rihanna's follow-up single, "You Da One," enters this week's Hot 100 at #73. Adele's "Someone Like You" holds at #3. The song spent five weeks at #1 in both the U.S. and the U.K. It was the first song to spend that many weeks at #1 in both countries since Katy Perry's 2008 smash "I Kissed A Girl" spent seven weeks at #1 in the U.S. and five weeks on top in the U.K. "Someone Like You" has sold 2,825,000 copies, which puts it at #14 for the year-to-date. Adele is #1 for the year-to-date with "Rolling In The Deep." She's the only strictly solo artist (no collabos) with two songs in the top 15. "Without You" by David Guetta featuring Usher jumps from #6 to #4. This is Guetta's highest-charting hit to date, topping "Sexy Chick" (featuring Akon), which peaked at #5 in February 2010. How versatile is Usher? The R&B/pop superstar is featured on current Hot 100 hits by Guetta, one of the hottest dance music stars of recent years, and Romeo Santos, the former lead singer of the Latin music group Aventura. Usher joined Santos to perform "Promise" on last week's Latin Grammy Awards. The song jumps from #91 to #83 in its fourth week. Bruno Mars lands his seventh top 10 hit as "It Will Rain" jumps from #12 to #9. It's been less than two years since Mars made his first appearance on the Hot 100 (on Feb. 3, 2010, as the featured vocalist on B.o.B's "Nothin' On You"). He has since brought a much-needed dose of sweetness and warmth to a turbo-charged pop radio environment. "Nothin' On You" and Mars' solo hits "Just The Way You Are" and "Grenade" have logged a combined total of 10 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100. His debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans has sold a healthy 1,321,000 copies. And the album has done it the hard way: little by little, week by week. The album has never sold more than 84,000 copies in any one week. In fact, there have been only four weeks when it sold even 50K copies. "It Will Rain" is from the soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1, which enters The Billboard 200 at #4 this week. The movie is due Nov. 18. This is, by far, the biggest hit to emerge from a Twilight movie. It surpasses Paramore's "Decode" from the first movie, which hit #33 in 2008. "Stereo Hearts" by Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine, which dips from #5 to #7, tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. It's the group's best-seller to date. "Cupid's Chokehold," featuring Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, has sold 1,953,000 copies since its release in 2007. (The billing on that record showed Fall Out Boy in parentheses after Stump's name, to help people who couldn't quite place his name. Such a move apparently wasn't deemed necessary with Levine, whose star power has increased greatly this year thanks to his judge's role on The Voice and to his simultaneous top 10 hits. Here's the low-down on this week's top 10 songs. 1. Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris, "We Found Love." The song holds at #1 for the third week in its eighth week on the chart. This is its seventh week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #1 (227K). 2. LMFAO, "Sexy And I Know It." The song holds at #2 for the second week in its 11th week on the chart. This is its eighth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #2 (195K). 3. Adele, "Someone Like You." The former #1 song holds at #3 for the second week in its 19th week on the chart. This is its 11th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #6 (143K). 4. David Guetta featuring Usher, "Without You." The song jumps from #6 to #4 in its 11th week on the chart. This is Guetta's highest-charting hit to date, topping "Sexy Chick" (featuring Akon), which peaked at #5 in February 2010. This is its seventh week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #4 (162K). 5. Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera, "Moves Like Jagger." The former #1 song dips from #4 to #5 in its 21st week on the chart. This is its 16th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #9 (120K). The song has sold 3,264,000 copies, which puts it at #7 for the year-to-date. 6. Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine, "Stereo Hearts." The song dips from #5 to #6 in its 22nd week on the chart. This is its 11th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #12 (93K). 7. Foster The People, "Pumped Up Kicks." The song holds at #7 in its 29th week on the chart. This is its 14th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #10 (117K). The song has sold 3,226,000 copies, which puts it at #8 for the year-to-date. 8. Flo Rida, "Good Feeling." The song holds at #8 for the second week in its seventh week on the chart. This is its second week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #7 (139K). 9. Bruno Mars, "It Will Rain." The song jumps from #21 to #9 in its sixth week. Its' Mars' seventh top 10 hit. Digital sales rank: #8 (130K). 10. Taylor Swift, "If This Was A Movie." This new entry is Swift's 10th top 10 hit. Digital sales rank: #3 (162K). Two songs drop out of the top 10 this week. "You Make Me Feel…." by Cobra Starship featuring Sabi drops from #9 to #11. "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock drops from #10 to #14. Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" jumps from #18 to #15 in its fifth week, continuing its steady march to the top 10…J. Cole's "Work Out" jumps from #25 to #22 in its 11th week. The Band Perry's "If I Die Young," which won as Best Single and Best Song at last week's Country Music Awards, rebounds from #40 to #30 in its 51st week on the chart. The song has climbed as high as #14. It has sold 3,386,000 digital copies, which is the fourth highest total for a country song in digital history. It trails only Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" (5,440,000) and a pair of hits by Taylor Swift, "Love Story" (5,134,000) and "You Belong With Me" (3,859,000). The family trio's current "All Your Life" jumps from #63 to #37 in its 10th week. The Band Perry won as Best New Artist at the CMAs and is likely to be in the running for that same award when the Grammy nominations are announced on Nov. 30. "Run" by Sugarland featuring Matt Nathanson debuts at #53. The two acts performed the smoldering ballad on the CMAs. It will appear on Sugarland's next album. Sugarland has three of the five best-selling songs by ongoing country duos (as opposed to one-off collabos). The tandem of Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush is represented in the top five with "Stuck Like Glue" (2,243,000), "Stay (1,719,000) and "All I Want To Do" (1,266,000). The top five is rounded out by Big & Rich's "Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy), which is #2 with sales of 2,243,000, and Thompson Square's "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not," which is #4 with sales of 1,523,000. Several other songs move up as a result of CMA exposure. Lady Antebellum's "We Owned The Night" jumps from #46 to #32 in its 13th week. Eric Church's "Drink In My Hand" jumps from #61 to #40 in its eighth week. "Easy" by Rascal Flatts featuring Natasha Bedingfield jumps from #51 to #43 in its 16th week. Martina McBride's "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" jumps from #83 to #61 in its sixth week. Mac Miller's "Smile Back" bows at #55. This is the third song from Miller's debut album, Blue Slide Park, to crack the Hot 100. It follows "Frick Park Market," which reached #60, and "Party On Fifth Ave.," which hit #64 last week and this week drops to #79. Miller's earlier "Donald Trump" reached #79, but it isn't included on the album. Blue Slide Park enters The Billboard 200 at #1 this week. You already know that if you read Chart Watch: Albums. If you missed it, here's a link…Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years" jumps from #59 to #46 in its fourth week. Blake Shelton's remake of Kenny Loggins' "Footloose" bows at #63. The two stars teamed to open the CMAs with the song. Shelton's version sold 43K copies last week. Loggins' sold 14K. Loggins' version topped the Hot 100 for three weeks in the spring of 1984…The Glee version of Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" bows at #68. Joel's original, which was an homage to the sound of the Four Seasons, logged five weeks at #3 in the fall of 1983…Dierks Bentley's "Home" bows at #70. This is the title song from Bentley's seventh studio album, which is due in February. Bentley's highest-charting hit to date on the Hot 100 is 2003's "What Was I Thinkin'," which reached #22. Faith Hill's "Come Home" bows at #82. It's from an upcoming Hill album. Hill has amassed five top 10 hits, including a 1997 debut with her husband Tim McGraw. Hill is the only artist in Hot 100 history to remain on the Hot 100 for a full year with back-to-back singles. She stayed on for 53 weeks with 1999's "Breathe" and for 56 weeks with its follow-up, 2000's "The Way You Love Me." (One other act stayed on the chart for a full year with two different singles, but they weren't back-to-back hits. Lifehouse charted for 54 weeks with 2001's "Hanging By A Moment" and for 62 weeks with 2005's "You And Me.") Fan Tribute: Heavy D & the Boyz' 1991 hit "Now That We Found Love" sold 18K digital copies last week, in the wake of Heavy D's death. The song has sold 395K digital copies to date. Aaron Hall, who sang a backing vocal on this hit, went on to land a few hits of his own, notably 1994's "I Miss You."

bruce, "We Belong Together" did not hit No. 1 at AC or Adult Top 40. After that track's couple of weeks of highs, "Irreplaceable" is the track with the next-highest weekly audience. Of course, both of these tracks peaked post-December 1998, when the Hot 100 Airplay panel expanded to include all formats (and the number of stations is larger than it was even at that time). since). So, it's kinda tough to compare to hits peaking before that, as not all formats counted for Hot 100 Airplay, and even individual formats have seen its station pool grow (i.e. in the 90s, Mainstream Top 40 was 70-80 stations; now it's 130 or more).

you would think it would've been #1 on HOT AC for 10 weeks. Quite interesting...

R&B songs were rarely making the Top 10 at Hot AC at the time, even the ones that were huge.

you would think it would've been #1 on HOT AC for 10 weeks. Quite interesting... This was during the time when #1 on Rhythmic, Pop, and Urban would have guaranteed you #1 on Hot 100 Airplay. Now pop and rhythmic singles are getting supported by Rhythmic and Hot AC more than ever, which wasn't happening in the early to mid 2000's (i.e. a song like Matchbox 20's "Unwell" could spend like 20 something weeks at #1 on Hot AC but never get much farther than top 10 on airplay because of no rhythmic support).

I'm really surprised Gaga's not even in the top 200 of digital sales with "Marry the Night" yet.
BTW, can't believe Adele's SFTTR has spent 11 weeks on the Hot 100 before it's even promoted as a single.

br, "Marry the Night" currently is at No. 291 on iTunes. It surely will see big movement once the video hits.

bruce, "We Belong Together" did not hit No. I'd say 14 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 is way more than a couple of weeks of high. Mariah shattered the radio airplay record many times over during that period and her weekly airplay totals will probably NEVER be rivaled again.

does this mean Moves Like Jagger is back at #1 on overall airplay? Yup. Funny how they didnt mention anything about it.

"9. Bruno Mars, "It Will Rain." The song jumps from #21 to #9 in its sixth week. Its' Mars' seventh top 10 hit. Digital sales rank: #8 (130K)."
He probably meant #12

Ask Billboard posted the top 10 audience tracks (with their highest weeks) in June of last year; it listed WBT as 212.1 million, and then "Irreplaceable" with 196.3m. Naturally, all 10 were 2002-2006 tracks.
EDIT: I just checked it, too- WBT reached 212m in its 7th week at No. 1 on Hot 100 Airplay (the week prior, it hit 202m); then, the following week, it lost its airplay bullet. So, she probably had at least three weeks of 200m+.

Even though I think Adele is overrated at this point(even though I bought 21 back in August), I'm glad she's having this success.
It's amazing to me how she's racking up those track sales without being singles.

^Once all formats became part of Hot 100 Airplay in December 1998, the total number of stations continued to increase for several years (from less than 800 when the expanded panel started, to more than 1,200 now). Also, it's possible that stations' Arbitron ratings have decreased since that era, but I'm not sure.
Look at "Rolling in the Deep" and all of the formats it charted on- more than "We Belong Together," but it topped out at around 160 million in BDS numbers. RITDdidn't perform as well at urban and rhythmic as that track did (airplay was minimal at urban- that alone could have been the major difference), but it did better at AC and Hot AC. From 2007-present, there just hasn't been a track that has reached around 170m in BDS audience, and, like said, that could be in part because of Arbitron ratings.

Could it be that the reason the audience is not big as it use to be is that people don't listen to the radio as much anymore? I hardly ever listen to the radio. I just use my iPod.
