It's pretty impressive that the same Bruno Mars album will likely get a Grammy boost into the Top 10 for a second year in a row (considering that it didn't even come out one of those two years).

Well, most albums that recieve Grammy boosts are from the previous year anyway, but the second year is impressive.

Is HITS in the office or did it take off for the holiday?

Why does it matter on a Monday anyway? The chart to look at isn't ready for another day

Yah- some just like to get a preview of how things will shape up, even though they know the final chart usually looks quite different in terms of rankings.

It's a "preview" because it shows what albums are selling with a portion of sales in- I didn't say a preview of how the final chart exactly will look.

At the very least it tells you the minimum sales albums will be getting.
I think it's also interesting because you can sometimes tell what segments have reported and when -- e.g., if country titles have high sales on Monday it's likely that most of their sales have already been reported.

Of course, the reporting order needs to stay the same for that to work and one can never be sure that it is. But the partial chart has proven a useful predictor at times.

In any other non-holiday week, I would've thought these numbers were the final ones.

I think Adele could possibly do 700k. But soundscan numbers tend to be lower than HITS. Will be interesting to see the final numbers. Really great numbers so far!

ADELEMANIA: Never mind Linsanity, the record biz is basking in its own superstar in XL/ Columbia’s Adele, whose 21 album will spend its 21st week at #1 today with more than 700k in post-Grammy sales, sending it over 7 million, while our retail seers have already dubbed it the best-selling album of 2012. In addition, her first album, 19, is now #4, with another 85-90k in sales. Meanwhile, Whitney Houston’s Greatest Hits lands at #2 with 150-175k after last weekend’s funeral in Newark (see Clive Davis’ eulogy here), giving Sony three of the Top 4. (2/21a)

So assuming Adele outsells SuBo's debut week (701k), does this mean she will have the highest one week sales for a British artist? (or at least British female artist?)

I'm really happy that the Maroon 5 album eventually sold well, it's a good album. When it was released it looked like another Bionic.

RIAA is calling the factory that makes the framed album certification awards to take the "diamond-certified" engraver out of storage and dust it off... They'll be needing it for 21.

HITS REALLY underestimated sales for The Greatest Hits. So, that's a three-spot gain on its initial peak (No. 5 vs. No. 2).
Craaazzzyyy sales for Ms. Adkins- but not surprising.
